Boston Beach

Winifred Beach is a locally popular public beach in Portland, Jamaica. A campaign is in progress to keep the beach public in the face of corporate efforts to privatize, develop, and enclose the surrounding area to all but paid access.

Frenchman's Cove Resort, previously known as Frenchman's Cove Hotel, is a hotel located on a 42-acre (170,000 m2) property near Port Antonio on Jamaica's northeastern shore. It is considered to be the world's first all-inclusive hotel with a history indicating its role in Jamaica's tourism industry.The hotel was popular with guests in the 1960s and considered to be one of the most expensive hotels at the time at $1000 per week. It is currently underused. Nevertheless, and although very small in size the Frenchman's Cove beach is one of the best in the island even when compared with the beautiful Seven Mile's beach in Negril. The small cliffs on both sides of the sea entrance along with the clear sands, the small blue lagoon and the dense vegetation that surrounds all the area makes of this beach a place with an atmosphere absolutely unique.

Built in 1888, Folly Lighthouse is a brick tower with lantern and gallery. It flashes a white light every 10 seconds that is visible for 13 miles (21 km). The light is solar powered. A garden surrounds the lighthouse.It is maintained by the Port Authority of Jamaica, an agency of the Ministry of Transport and Works.

Port Antonio is the capital of the parish of Portland on the northeastern coast of Jamaica, about 100 km (60 miles) from Kingston. It had a population of 12,285 in 1982 and 13,246 in 1991. It is the island's third largest port, famous as a shipping point for bananas and coconuts, as well as one of its most important tourist attractions, tourism being a major contributor to the town’s economy.

Titchfield High School is a secondary high school in Port Antonio, Jamaica, in the northern part of Portland Parish. The school was established in January 1786, and is the fifth-oldest high school in the country, after Wolmer's Boys', one of the Wolmer's Schools (1729), Manning's School (1738), St. Jago High School (1744), and Rusea's High School (1777). In the 18th century, these schools originated from their benefactors’ concerns for the education of the country’s poor, usually the children of poor whites, as there was no system in place for the education of the children of slaves.In 1883, the Jamaica School Commission took over the management of the school from the school's trust. According to the Alumni Association of Titchfield High, South Florida chapter, as of January 2008, there were 99 teachers for 1949 students in grades 7-13.Titchfield was the first school to win Inter-Secondary Schools Girls Championships back to back, in 1963 and 1964 (its only two titles). In both 2011 and 2012, the school placed second in Television Jamaica's School Challenge Quiz. In 2016, the team which included Demario Asquitt, Zedan Martin, Tajay Edwards and Rajae Chambers and coached by Mr C. Roberts and Mr A. Sparks won the competition, defeating Campion College in the final match. This was the first win by a rural school in almost two decades and also made them only the 13th school to ever win the competition.The school has six extra-curricular houses named after the school's past principals and/or outstanding benefactors. They are: Brown, Chin, Geddes, Grossett, Plant and Sherlock.

Navy Island is a small (64 acres) uninhabited island off the coast of Port Antonio in Portland Parish, Jamaica. Navy Island's most famous owner was the film actor Errol Flynn, who reportedly hosted many parties there. Until fairly recently, the Island has been maintained as a resort community. However, it is now a closed island owned by the Government of Jamaica.

Moore Town is a Maroon settlement located in the Blue Mountains and John Crow Mountains of Portland, Jamaica, accessible by road from Port Antonio. The easternmost Maroon town, Moore Town is located in the eastern end of the parish. Formerly known as New Nanny Town, Moore Town was founded in 1740 when the Peace Treaty was signed between the British colonial authorities and the Windward Maroons. This treaty allotted the Moore Town Maroons 1000 acres, but Moore Town only received 500. In 1781 the initial 500 acres was augmented with another 500 acres, taking their communal land up to 1,000 acres.While Maroons and the British initially referred to this settlement as New Nanny Town, from 1760 the colonial authorities called it Moore Town or Muretown, when it was reportedly named after acting governor Sir Henry Moore.As of 2009 Moore Town has a reported population of 1,106.

The Guava River rises just north of the Grand Ridge of the Blue Mountains on the border of Portland Parish in Jamaica. From here it runs east then north and then east again to its confluence with the Rio Grande.As of 2010 there are no roads or settlements visible anywhere along the river's length on satellite imagery or on the earlier maps.

Cattawood Springs is a place in Portland Parish, Jamaica located at latitude 18 04' 00", longitude 76 26' 00". Originally this was a Maroon settlement. Its name probably derives from the Twi word katá which means to cover conceal or protect.

Blue and John Crow Mountains National Park is a national park in Jamaica. The park covers 495.2 km2 and accounts for 4.5% of Jamaica's land surface. It gets its name from the Blue Mountains, the mountain range that runs through it, as well as a common bird found in the park, the "John crow" or turkey vulture (Cathartes aura). The park is globally known for its biodiversity. This park is the last of two known habitats of the giant swallowtail butterfly (Papilio homerus), the largest butterfly in the Western Hemisphere and also the habitat for the endangered Jamaican blackbird (Nesopsar nigerrimus), a refuge for the Jamaican boa (Chilabothrus subflavus) and the Jamaican hutia (Geocapromys brownii). The park was inscribed to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site for mixed criteria (cultural and natural) on 3 July 2015.

The Rio Grande is a river of Jamaica, found in the parish of Portland. One of the largest rivers in Jamaica, it was named "Big River" (Rio Grande) by the Spanish, who controlled Jamaica in the 15th and 16th centuries. It is one of the many tourist attractions in Portland and is used mainly for rafting.

Portland, with its capital town Port Antonio, is a parish located on Jamaica's northeast coast. It is situated to the north of St Thomas and to the east of St Mary in Surrey County. It is one of the rural areas of Jamaica, containing part of the Blue Mountains, where the Jamaican Maroon communities of Moore Town and Charles Town are located.
