The University and State Library Düsseldorf (German: Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek Düsseldorf, abbreviated ULB Düsseldorf) is a central service institution of Heinrich Heine University. Along with Bonn and Münster, it is also one of the three State Libraries of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU) (German: Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf) was founded in 1965 as the successor organisation to Düsseldorf's Medical Academy of 1907 and was named after German poet Heinrich Heine. Following several expansions throughout the decades, the university has comprised five faculties since 1993. At present, more than 36,000 full-time students are pursuing studies at HHU. There is a total staff of approximately 3,600 persons at HHU (academic and non-academic).

The Hochschule Düsseldorf is a Fachhochschule (University of Applied Sciences) with departments for social sciences and cultural studies, technical sciences, architecture, media, design and business education in Düsseldorf. Its foundation was in 1971. It is the second largest University of Applied Sciences in North Rhine-Westphalia, after the Technical University of Cologne. On 1 Mai 2015 the name was changed from Fachhochschule Düsseldorf to Hochschule Düsseldorf.

Wersten is a quarter (Stadtteil) of Düsseldorf located in Borough 9 of the city. It is south of Eller and Oberbilk, east of Bilk, and north of Holthausen. It has an area of 4.42 km2 (1.71 sq mi), and 27,151 inhabitants (2020). It has been a part of Düsseldorf since 1909.

Himmelgeist is an old part of Düsseldorf, which is dominated by agriculture until today. Himmelgeist lies by the river Rhine, neighbouring to Flehe and Itter. It is a small suburb of Düsseldorf. Himguis was mentioned first time in a document of 904. Himmelgeist had many problems with the neighboring river Rhine throughout its history.

The Universitäts-Augenklinik Düsseldorf is the department of Ophthalmology of the University Hospital of Düsseldorf in Germany. It is an internationally renown centre for corneal transplantation, ocular surface disease and management of associated disorders ranging from Glaucoma to oculoplastic surgery. Further subspecialist expertise is established for the diagnosis and surgical and medical treatment of vitreoretinal and macular disorders as well as strabismus.

The University Hospital of Düsseldorf (German: Universitätsklinikum Düsseldorf) is located in the south of Düsseldorf, the state capital of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia and center of the populous Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region. It treats approximately 45,000 inpatients and 300,000 outpatients every year in 32 clinics and 34 institutes. The hospital has more than 1,200 inpatient beds. It has roughly 5,500 employees, including 1,300 nurses and 800 physicians. Many facilities are self-operated (crafts, training centers). The board consists of the medical director, the commercial director, the director of nursing and the dean of the medical faculty.

The Mitsubishi Electric Halle (formerly Philips Halle) is an indoor arena located in Düsseldorf, Germany. It opened in 1971 and has a capacity of 7,500 people. It was originally named after Dutch electronics conglomerate Philips. It was renamed the Mitsubishi Electric Halle in April 2011.It was home of the RheinEnergie Köln, for Euroleague games, for the 2006/2007 season. On 7 May 2001, Irish vocal pop band Westlife held a concert for their Where Dreams Come True Tour supporting their album Coast to Coast. In their early days, U2 played there on the 10 October 1984 as part of The Unforgettable Fire Tour. On June 29 2007 french electronic duo Daft Punk performed their first time in Germany with the Alive 2006/2007 tour. On 15 June 2019, British pop band Take That played a date as part of their European Greatest Hits Live tour. The nearest Train Station to the arena is Düsseldorf-Oberbilk, which is served by S-Bahn lines S1, S6 and during peak hours S68, Stadtbahn lines U74, U77 and U79 as well as Tram line 705.

Mickeln House (German: Schloss Mickeln) is a manor house in Düsseldorf's Himmelgeist neighbourhood. It was erected in 1843 on the site of Haus Mickeln, which went back to 1210. As that building had been destroyed in a fire in 1836, Herzog Ludwig von Arenberg used an insurance payment to have renowned architect Josef Niehaus rebuild the manor as a summer residence. Niehaus used engravings of villas built in the 16th century by Galeazzo Alessi as a template. The manor has a square plan, each side measuring 19.55 metres. All perspectives are designed identically, apart from an outside staircase on the northern side. The entrance portal is surrounded by lime trees. That concept was already envisaged in 1843, when the surrounding gardens were designed by Maximilian Friedrich Weyhe. Some of the trees, e.g. plane trees, European Beech, and two Lebanon cedars, have survived; the last-named are considered one of Düsseldorf's natural monuments. Since June 2000, the estate has been used as a conference centre and guest house by Düsseldorf University.

Düsseldorf-Oberbilk (Oberbilk Bf./PhilipsHalle for the subway station) is an interchange railway station situated at Oberbilk, Düsseldorf in western Germany. It is served by the S1, S6 and S68 lines of Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn, lines U74, U77 and U79 of Düsseldorf Stadtbahn (light rail), and Tram line 705.

Berg was a state—originally a county, later a duchy—in the Rhineland of Germany. Its capital was Düsseldorf. It existed as a distinct political entity from the early 12th to the 19th centuries. The name of the county lives on in the modern geographic term Bergisches Land, often misunderstood as bergiges Land (hilly country).
