Inventionland is a Pittsburgh-based immersive work environment and idea incubator where creative projects are brought to life. Inventionland was conceived by George Davison. Nathan Field served as the executive creative coach, and Joey Warren acted as senior concept designer. According to George Davison, his intention in building Inventionland was to provide a creative work environment in which artists, graphic designers, industrial designers and others could design, develop and create prototypes.

The Allegheny County Workhouse was a prison that was located adjacent to the town of Blawnox, Pennsylvania. Its full name was "Allegheny County Workhouse and Inebriate Asylum". The first inmates were received in 1869, and the facility closed in 1971. The prison housed mostly inmates convicted of minor offenses. Many of those prisoners maintained a farm of about 1100 acres (445 ha), which contained apple orchards as well as many other crops and many different types of farm animals.

Blawnox is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,432 at the 2010 census.

The 2024 U.S. Senior Women's Open took place August 1–4 at Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and was the sixth U.S. Senior Women's Open. It was a professional golf tournament organized by the United States Golf Association (USGA), open to women over 50 years of age and one of two yearly senior women's major golf championships.

Sycamore Run (formerly Squaw Run) is a tributary of the Allegheny River located in Allegheny County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. Due to the offensive nature of the word "squaw," the name was changed to Sycamore Run on September 8, 2022.

O'Hara Township is a township with home rule status in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania in the United States six miles northeast of Downtown Pittsburgh. The community was long organized as a township, and retains "Township" in its official name, but adopted a home rule charter in 1973 (taking effect on January 5, 1976) and is no longer subject to the Pennsylvania Township Code. The population was 8,407 at the 2010 census.It is named for James O'Hara, an early American industrialist in western Pennsylvania, and a revolutionary war general.

Sycamore Island is an alluvial island in the Allegheny River parallel to Ninemile Island in the borough of Blawnox, Allegheny County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. Sycamore Island is the last remaining privately owned undeveloped island in Allegheny County. The island hosts a unique floodplain hardwood forest – among the most rare plant community types globally. The Allegheny County Natural Heritage Inventory included Sycamore Island as part of the “Allegheny River Biological Diversity Area” which has a ranking of High Significance. On December 28, 2007, Allegheny Land Trust acquired the 14-acre (57,000 m2) Sycamore Island with Colcom Foundation providing full funding for its conservation. “The conservation of Sycamore Island through the generous support of the Colcom Foundation ensures that this undeveloped island and its ecological, educational and recreational benefits will be forever protected,” said Roy Kraynyk, Executive Director of the Allegheny Land Trust. “This is an extremely exciting project,” said Colcom Program Director Carol Zagrocki. “Sycamore Island is truly a rare conservation opportunity in the county.”

Ninemile Island is an alluvial island in the Allegheny River in the city of Penn Hills, Pennsylvania. It lies southeast of, and parallel to the larger Sycamore Island, which lies in the borough of Blawnox, Allegheny County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania.

Longue Vue Club and Golf Course is a historic golf course and clubhouse in Penn Hills Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, suburbs of Pittsburgh, that was originally established in the 1920s. It was added to the List of Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmarks in 1985, and the National Register of Historic Places on May 10, 2005.

Waterworks Shopping Mall is an outdoor super-regional shopping mall located on Freeport Road in the city limits of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. The center opened in 1982, and features a gross leasable area of 914,638 square feet (84,972.7 m2). It is managed by J.J. Gumberg Co. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Anchor stores include Barnes & Noble, Dunham's Sports, Giant Eagle, Marshalls, Petco, and TJ Maxx; the mall also features several smaller stores and restaurants, as well as a movie theater. Former anchor tenants include Bed Bath & Beyond, Phar-Mor, Sam Goody, Service Merchandise, and Walmart (previously Hills then Ames). Waterworks Shopping Plaza is home to more than 65 stores and services including food court such as Starbucks, Burgatory, Panera Bread, Uncle Sam's Subs, Five Guys Burgers, Aladdin's Eatery, Italian Village Pizza, Ichiban Hibachi & Sushi Bar, Mad Mex, Subway. On October 24, 2022, it was announced that Walmart would be closing on November 11 due to is past and present financial performance.

Fox Chapel Area High School (Established in 1961) is a public school located in the Pittsburgh suburb of O'Hara Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. It was recognized and honored as a National Blue Ribbon School twice. The Fox Chapel Area High School serves the municipalities of Fox Chapel, Aspinwall, Blawnox, Indiana, O'Hara and Sharpsburg.
