Lacken or Lackan (Irish: An Leacain) is a townland and small village in the west of County Wicklow, Ireland, located on the shores of the Blessington lakes. Lacken in situated on the Blessington 'Lake Drive' and is sometimes noted for its view across the lake. The area has been used as a location for a number of number of films, including Dancing at Lughnasa (1998), This Is My Father (1999) and P.S. I Love You (2007).As of the 2011 census of Ireland, the townland had a population of 200 people.

Moanbane (Irish: Móin Bhán, meaning 'white bog') at 703 metres (2,306 ft), is the 85th–highest peak in Ireland on the Arderin scale, and the 106th–highest peak on the Vandeleur-Lynam scale. Moanbane is in the central sector, at the western edge, of the Wicklow Mountains, in Wicklow, Ireland. Moanbane is on a small massif alongside Silsean 698 metres (2,290 ft) which lies between the Blessington lakes (or Poulaphouca Reservoir), and the taller mountain of Mullaghcleevaun 849 metres (2,785 ft).Moanbane's prominence of 108 metres (354 ft), does not qualify it as a Marilyn, but does rank it the 50th-highest mountain in Ireland on the MountainViews Online Database, 100 Highest Irish Mountains, where the minimum prominence threshold for inclusion on the list is 100 metres.

Ballyknockan quarry, or more correctly Ballyknockan quarries, are a collection of disused granite quarries in the village of Ballyknockan, County Wicklow, Ireland. From the early 19th century onward, the site was "probably the most important area for supplying cut stone blocks of granite for the construction of many of Dublin city's major public buildings", according to a report by the Geological Survey of Ireland. At its height, from approximately the 1840s to 1870s, there would have been "hundreds of workers" active in various trades in the quarries, which lie some 15 miles south-west of Dublin city. Transportation of the materials alone to the city by horse and cart required considerable logistical effort. According to most sources, the quarries were founded in the year 1824. The Ballyknockan community celebrated the bicentennial of the founding of the quarries in 2024 with the opening of a new museum. Granite is no longer quarried onsite, but the mountainsides are still "littered with stray chunks of granite" which stonemasons use to produce monumental orders, as well as using stockpiled and locally imported stone. The village of Ballyknockan was largely built with granite from the quarries, and became known as Wicklow's "Granite Village", or "the Rockery of the Garden of Ireland". Extant stone buildings in the village today demonstrate the skills of the stonemasons who built them.

Ballyknockan or Ballynockan ( bal-ə-NOK-ən; Irish: Buaile an Chnocáin) is a village and townland in County Wicklow, Ireland. Ballyknockan is situated on the western edge of a large granite band extending from Dublin Bay to County Carlow and was known for the granite quarries that existed since the early 19th century. According to an Ordnance survey of 1838, at the time almost half of the population of 400 were employed in the quarries.Ballyknockan village is located 220 metres above sea level and is around 25 miles from Dublin City Centre. In 1940 the village of Balinahown was completely flooded and parts of the surrounding towns of Valleymount and Lacken were also flooded to make way for the Poulaphouca Reservoir which spans out over 20 km2 across the land. Since then, the village overlooks the reservoir that provides water to thousands of Dublin homes and creates electricity, while also offering many water pursuits such as fishing, sailing, windsurfing, boating, and leisure cruising and canoeing.Ballyknockan hosts the Ballyknockan Music Festival "KnockanStockan", annually each summer.

Poulaphouca Reservoir, officially Pollaphuca (from Irish: Poll a' Phúca, meaning 'the Púca's hole'), is an active reservoir (for both water supply and electricity generation) and area of wild bird conservation in west County Wicklow, Ireland named after the Poulaphouca waterfall on its south-western end where the water exits the lake. The lake is also commonly known as the Blessington Lakes, even though there is just one. It holds 166 billion litres (43.8 billion gallons, or 0.2 cubic km) and has a surface area 22.26 km2, making it the largest artificial reservoir in Ireland by capacity and surface area. It has a 44.3 km (27.5-mile) shoreline, and is 39.6 km (24.6 miles) from the sea.

Silsean (Irish: Soillsean, meaning 'place of lights') at 698 metres (2,290 ft), is the 92nd–highest peak in Ireland on the Arderin scale, and the 114th–highest peak on the Vandeleur-Lynam scale. Silsean is in the central sector, at the western edge, of the Wicklow Mountains, in Wicklow, Ireland. Silsean is on a small massif alongside Moanbane 703 metres (2,306 ft) which lies between the Blessington lakes (or Poulaphouca Reservoir), and the major massif of Mullaghcleevaun 849 metres (2,785 ft).

Blessington Sailing Club is a yacht club located on the Baltyboys shore at Poulaphouca Reservoir, outside Blessington, County Wicklow in Ireland. It hosts several regattas every year, which sometimes include national championships for various dinghy classes. The club receives some financial support from the Irish government's Community Sports Facilities Fund.

Baltyboys House, also known as Boystown House, is an 18th-century Georgian country house in Blessington, County Wicklow, Ireland. Baltyboys House is a mansion built in the Georgian style. The estate sits on one hundred acres in Blessington, County Wicklow. It is located a mile from Russborough House, near Poulaphouca Reservoir.The estate was previously owned by the Smiths, a gentry family. Elizabeth Grant Smith, the wife of Colonel Henry Smith, wrote extensively about managing the estate, particularly during the Great Famine. Dame Ninette de Valois, the great-granddaughter of Elizabeth Grant Smith, was born at Baltyboys.In January 2014 the estate sold for €4.925 million by the owner, Elizabeth McClory, daughter of Vincent O'Brien and second wife of Kevin McClory. Baltyboys was not listed on the market, instead being sold through a private auction at Christie's.

Mullaghcleevaun (Irish: Mullach Cliabháin, meaning 'summit of the cradle/basket') at 849 metres (2,785 ft), is the 15th–highest peak in Ireland on the Arderin scale, and the 20th–highest peak on the Vandeleur-Lynam scale. Mullaghcleevaun is in the central sector of the Wicklow Mountains range, in Wicklow, Ireland; it is the 2nd highest peak in Wicklow after Lugnaquilla. Mullaghcleevaun lies on the main "central spine" of the whole range that runs from Kippure in the north, to Lugnaquillia in the south; and in particular, it lies on the continuous "central boggy ridge" that runs from the Sally Gap to Tonelagee.To the east of the main summit of Mullaghcleevaun is Mullaghcleevaun East Top 790 metres (2,590 ft). Below the summit of Mullaghcleevaun lies the corrie lake of Cleevaun Lough, Wicklow's highest natural lake at 686 metres (2,251 ft).
