Poulaphouca Reservoir, officially Pollaphuca (from Irish: Poll a' Phúca, meaning 'the Púca's hole'), is an active reservoir (for both water supply and electricity generation) and area of wild bird conservation in west County Wicklow, Ireland named after the Poulaphouca waterfall on its south-western end where the water exits the lake. The lake is also commonly known as the Blessington Lakes, even though there is just one. It holds 166 billion litres (43.8 billion gallons, or 0.2 cubic km) and has a surface area 22.26 km2, making it the largest artificial reservoir in Ireland by capacity and surface area. It has a 44.3 km (27.5-mile) shoreline, and is 39.6 km (24.6 miles) from the sea.

Ballyknockan or Ballynockan ( bal-ə-NOK-ən; Irish: Buaile an Chnocáin) is a village and townland in County Wicklow, Ireland. Ballyknockan is situated on the western edge of a large granite band extending from Dublin Bay to County Carlow and was known for the granite quarries that existed since the early 19th century. According to an Ordnance survey of 1838, at the time almost half of the population of 400 were employed in the quarries.Ballyknockan village is located 220 metres above sea level and is around 25 miles from Dublin City Centre. In 1940 the village of Balinahown was completely flooded and parts of the surrounding towns of Valleymount and Lacken were also flooded to make way for the Poulaphouca Reservoir which spans out over 20 km2 across the land. Since then, the village overlooks the reservoir that provides water to thousands of Dublin homes and creates electricity, while also offering many water pursuits such as fishing, sailing, windsurfing, boating, and leisure cruising and canoeing.Ballyknockan hosts the Ballyknockan Music Festival "KnockanStockan", annually each summer.

Moanbane (Irish: Móin Bhán, meaning 'white bog') at 703 metres (2,306 ft), is the 85th–highest peak in Ireland on the Arderin scale, and the 106th–highest peak on the Vandeleur-Lynam scale. Moanbane is in the central sector, at the western edge, of the Wicklow Mountains, in Wicklow, Ireland. Moanbane is on a small massif alongside Silsean 698 metres (2,290 ft) which lies between the Blessington lakes (or Poulaphouca Reservoir), and the taller mountain of Mullaghcleevaun 849 metres (2,785 ft).Moanbane's prominence of 108 metres (354 ft), does not qualify it as a Marilyn, but does rank it the 50th-highest mountain in Ireland on the MountainViews Online Database, 100 Highest Irish Mountains, where the minimum prominence threshold for inclusion on the list is 100 metres.

Silsean (Irish: Soillsean, meaning 'place of lights') at 698 metres (2,290 ft), is the 92nd–highest peak in Ireland on the Arderin scale, and the 114th–highest peak on the Vandeleur-Lynam scale. Silsean is in the central sector, at the western edge, of the Wicklow Mountains, in Wicklow, Ireland. Silsean is on a small massif alongside Moanbane 703 metres (2,306 ft) which lies between the Blessington lakes (or Poulaphouca Reservoir), and the major massif of Mullaghcleevaun 849 metres (2,785 ft).

Baltyboys House, also known as Boystown House, is an 18th-century Georgian country house in Blessington, County Wicklow, Ireland. Baltyboys House is a mansion built in the Georgian style. The estate sits on one hundred acres in Blessington, County Wicklow. It is located a mile from Russborough House, near Poulaphouca Reservoir.The estate was previously owned by the Smiths, a gentry family. Elizabeth Grant Smith, the wife of Colonel Henry Smith, wrote extensively about managing the estate, particularly during the Great Famine. Dame Ninette de Valois, the great-granddaughter of Elizabeth Grant Smith, was born at Baltyboys.In January 2014 the estate sold for €4.925 million by the owner, Elizabeth McClory, daughter of Vincent O'Brien and second wife of Kevin McClory. Baltyboys was not listed on the market, instead being sold through a private auction at Christie's.

Golden Hill quarry, is a former granite quarry on Golden Hill, adjacent to the village of Manor Kilbride, County Wicklow, Ireland. Its exact coordinates are unknown. Dr. Patrick Wyse Jackson, curator of the Geological Museum at Trinity College Dublin, hypothesised that the Golden Hill granite was so named due to it having been partially weathered in situ, with the result that the "slightly altered feldspars" gave the rock "a brownish hue". When the quarry was exhausted sometime between 1820 and 1850, the associated workers moved to Ballyknockan a short distance away where a complex of granite quarries were founded.

Kilbride (Irish: Cill Bhríde), or Manor Kilbride, is a village, civil parish and electoral division in County Wicklow, Ireland, located at the western edge of the Wicklow Mountains in the barony of Talbotstown Lower.

St. Mary's Church is a Church of Ireland church located in Blessington, County Wicklow, Ireland. The church was built by Michael Boyle, Archbishop of Armagh in the 1670s and 1680s, and dedicated on 17 September 1683. The clock tower houses the oldest surviving set of bells in Ireland, the original bells used since its foundation, cast in 1682 by Bartlett bellfounders of London. The tower is also notable for possessing what has been described as the oldest public clock in Ireland, and/or the oldest working turret clock in Ireland.

Hempstown and Hempstown Commons are neighbouring townlands, located in Wicklow and Kildare Counties respectively, in Ireland. Separated by the N81 road, the two are located approximately two miles from Blessington. The area consists of mainly arable farmland, dairy cows, cattle, and sheep farming. Industries include concrete manufacturing and shale quarries. Hempstown Clay Pigeon Club [1] use some of these quarries as a clay pigeon shooting ground.
