Kirkvine Airstrip is an airstrip serving the city of Mandeville in the Manchester Parish of Jamaica. The airstrip is 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) north of the city. There is rising terrain northwest through east. There is a large hill off the end of Runway 33. The Manley VOR/DME (Ident: MLY) is located 41.0 nautical miles (75.9 km) east of the airstrip. The Sangster VOR/DME (Ident: SIA) is located 35.9 nautical miles (66.5 km) northwest of the airstrip.

Mandeville is the capital and largest town in the parish of Manchester in the county of Middlesex, Jamaica. In 2005, the town had an estimated population of 50,000, and including the immediate suburbs within a radius of 16 km (9.9 mi) the total population was about 72,000. It is located on an inland plateau at an altitude of 628 m (2061 feet), and is 103 km (64 mi) west of Kingston. It is the only parish capital of Jamaica not located on the coast or on a major river. Mandeville has a town square, parish church and clock tower, and many large, elegant early nineteenth-century houses line the winding streets in the town centre. The mayor of Mandeville in 2012 was Brenda Ramsay.

The Hyacinth Chen School of Nursing was officially opened on August 10, 2008, on a location directly across from the Northern Caribbean University campus across from NCU's Dental Centre located in Mandeville, Jamaica. The school is owned by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Jamaica. The school is being named in honour of Mrs. Hyacinth Chen, the mother of major donor, Michael Lee-Chin, Jamaican/Canadian businessman. The school will hold 800 nursing students and will reduce Jamaica's nursing shortage. It is a part of the Seventh-day Adventist education system, the world's second largest Christian school system.

Porous is a village in Manchester, Jamaica that overlooks a plain to the south, with hills behind it to the north. A tributary of the Rio Minho runs parallel to the main road, helping to keep the atmosphere cool.
