The 1986 Pilkington Glass Championships was a women's tennis tournament played on grass courts at the Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club in Eastbourne, United Kingdom and was part of the 1986 WTA Tour. It was the 12th edition of the tournament and ran from 16 June until 21 June 1986. First-seeded Martina Navratilova won the singles title, her fifth consecutive at the event and sixth in total.

It was the 13th edition of the tournament and ran from 15 June until 20 June 1987. Third-seeded Helena Suková won the singles title.

The Eastbourne International is a tennis tournament on the WTA Tour and the ATP Tour held at the Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club, Eastbourne, United Kingdom. Held since 1974, it is classified as a WTA 500 series on the WTA Tour and an ATP Tour 250 series on the ATP Tour. The tournament is played on outdoor grass courts, and is generally considered a "warm-up" for the Wimbledon Championships, a major tournament, which begins the following week. It was originally just part of the WTA Tour, but from 2009 it was combined as an ATP Tour event. It replaced the Nottingham Open grass court tournament from 2009–2014. Nottingham returned for 2015–2016 with no ATP Tour event in Eastbourne, however Eastbourne replaced the Nottingham event again from 2017 onwards. As of 2021, it is sponsored by Viking Cruises, with past sponsors including Nature Valley and AEGON.

The Congress Theatre is a Grade II* listed, purpose built, modern theatre and conference venue in the seaside town of Eastbourne, East Sussex. It is one of the largest theatres in southern England, with seating capacity of 1,689. The theatre was designed by Bryan and Norman Westwood Architects and built in 1963. The theatre underwent major refurbishment in 2019, to reveal a bright and contemporary look, whilst fully maintaining the character of the original design. Shows include touring West End theatre, ballet, opera, comedy and live music. It was the location for the final recorded concert by the American pianist, composer and band leader Duke Ellington on 1 December 1973. Ellington died five months later in May 1974.

Eastbourne Theatres is a council-owned theatre group responsible for three theatres in Eastbourne, England. The group is responsible for the Congress Theatre, Devonshire Park Theatre and the Winter Garden. The theatres together have a combined capacity of more than 4500 and show a variety of touring productions. The group also produces a variety of productions in-house under a separate arm known as Eastbourne Theatres Productions, some of which have gone on to tour both nationally and internationally.

The Devonshire Park Theatre is a Victorian theatre located in the town of Eastbourne, in the coastal region of East Sussex. The theatre was designed by Henry Currey and was built in 1884. In 1903, it was further improved by the theatre architect Frank Matcham. The building was designated as a Grade II listed building on 3 July 1981. The theatre has a seating capacity of 936.

South Street Free Church is a church in the centre of Eastbourne, a town and seaside resort in the English county of East Sussex. Originally Congregational, it is now aligned to the Countess of Huntingdon's Connexion—a small group of Evangelical churches founded by Selina Hastings, Countess of Huntingdon during the 18th-century Evangelical Revival. The church was founded in 1897 as an offshoot from an earlier Congregational chapel, and initially met in hired premises. Local architect Henry Ward designed the present church in 1903; the "characterful" and "quirky" Arts and Crafts-style building has been listed at Grade II by Historic England for its architectural and historical importance.
