Fish Hoek

Fish Hoek railway station is a railway station in Fish Hoek, Cape Town, South Africa. The station opened on 1 December 1890 as the first station on the extension from Kalk Bay to Simon's Town, the present-day terminus. It was electrified in 1928. Fish Hoek is served by Southern Line services operated by Metrorail.Due to the line converging to single-track south of Fish Hoek, many trains terminate at the station.

The Bible Institute of South Africa is an evangelical Bible college located on the False Bay coastline in Kalk Bay, Cape Town in South Africa. The college has students from across Africa, as well as from Europe, Asia and North America. BISA is a non-denominational bible training college. Staff and students are drawn from a range of church affiliations in SA and internationally, rather than one single denomination, as would be expected in a Seminary. The method and content of study is Christocentric and employs a historic Protestant and Reformational hermeneutic in the interpretation of the Bible. The teaching ethos is two-fold, not only to impart knowledge, but to take that knowledge and use it in the development of the skills and character needed by the student to be effective in life and service. The outcome for each student is to be able to think rationally, clearly and critically about life issues in a way that is biblical and sustainable in a context of serving others in multi-faith, multi-cultural and international communities. The college functions as a community in residence, sharing tuition, meals, assemblies and prayer times together. Since its founding in 1923 BISA has trained over two thousand men and women in a variety of subjects including Hermeneutics, Biblical and Systematic Theology, the Doctrines of Scripture, Old and New Testament Studies, Ontology, Christian Thinking and Hebrew & Greek bible languages.

Clovelly is a suburb in the Cape Peninsula area of Cape Town in South Africa. In biology, Clovelly is home to several seaweeds found only around the Cape Peninsula, including Chaetomorpha, Cladophora and Laurenciophila minima.

Kalk Bay (Afrikaans: Kalkbaai) is a fishing village on the coast of False Bay, South Africa and is now a suburb of greater Cape Town. It lies between the ocean and sharply rising mountainous heights that are buttressed by crags of grey Table Mountain Sandstone. The railway from Cape Town to Simon's Town passes through Kalk Bay and in some places the line is only metres from the water's edge. In 2018 Forbes Magazine voted the neighborhood one of the "coolest in the world".

Glencairn Wetland is a small 20-hectare (49-acre) reserve on the Cape Peninsula, in the southern areas of Greater Cape Town, South Africa. Located next to the village of Glencairn, this reserve protects the indigenous Cape wetland of the lower Else River, with its abundance of plant and animal life. The wetland is managed by the City of Cape Town with local volunteers, and it now includes a figure-of-eight system of footpaths, with hiking trails and stepping stones to cross waterways. Several bird species can be seen here and this is a popular site for fishing and school excursions. The mammal life, including otter, mongoose and porcupine, is mostly nocturnal and rarely seen. Small reptiles such as the angulate tortoise, the marsh terrapin and a range of snakes and lizards are also found here. Amphibian life includes a wide range of species such as the endangered western leopard toad, the arum lily frog, the Cape river frog and the clicking stream frog.

Glencairn is a small seaside village located on the Cape Peninsula, South Africa. It is situated about 4 km north of Simonstown, on the shore of False Bay. Access can be made from Fish Hoek or Simonstown via the M4, or from Noordhoek via the M6. Glencairn is made up of Glencairn Heights, Glen Ridge and Welcome Glen. There is a train stop at the south end of the suburb, with views across False Bay. The beach is actively utilised for leisure activities such as swimming, surfing, kayaking and snorkeling. The Glencairn tidal pool can be enjoyed on a high tide at the south end of the beach. The Glencairn Wetland conserves the lower Else River.

St James is a seaside village on the Cape Peninsula, South Africa, situated on the False Bay coast between Muizenberg and Kalk Bay. The village is situated between the rocky shore and a steep mountain, and measures about 200m by 2 km. Its name derives from the early St James Catholic Church, built circa 1880. Most of the suburb was built between 1910 and 1950, after the railway line was built connecting Cape Town to False Bay. St James beach is well known for its colourful Victorian-style bathing boxes, tidal pool and rock pools, which are popular with children. Danger Beach, also in St James, is a well-known surf spot.Most of the homes in the area date back to the days when the Cape was still a colony of the British Empire. The houses were built from limestone, plaster and stone, with traditional thatched roofs. St James Cottage was built in 1853 and during the Anglo-Boer War, the owner Abraham Auret helped to hide prisoners of war in the loft of his barn after which they attempted to escape across the bay.Boyes Drive runs above St James and provides scenic views of the False Bay coastline. St James is located on the Simon's Town train line and the Main Road that runs down the False Bay coast of the Cape Peninsula. There are walks and hikes on the mountains above the town, and whale watching opportunities during whale season.

The Fish Hoek Valley is situated in the Cape Peninsula, eighteen miles south of Cape Town, South Africa. It takes its name from the town of Fish Hoek on the False Bay coast. The valley is bound by mountains (including Chapman's Peak, Spitskop, Silvermine Mountain, and Ridge Peak) on the north; Fish Hoek Bay and False Bay on the east; mountains (including Elsie's Peak, Rooikrans, and Slangkop) on the south; and Chapman's Bay and the Atlantic Ocean on the west. It is 13 kilometres from west to east, and between 3 and 6 kilometres from north to south. The valley has several rivers and lakes. The predominant vegetation type in this valley is endangered Hangklip Sand Fynbos. However, the sides of the valley are home to Cape Granite Fynbos, and Peninsula Sandstone Fynbos can be found higher up on the surrounding mountains. The latter two vegetation types (also both endangered) are endemic to the Cape Peninsula and can be found nowhere else in the world.Fish Hoek Valley was once rural, but today it is largely covered by suburbs and townships such as Kommetjie, Ocean View, Noordhoek, The Lakes, Masiphumelele, Capri Village, Sunnydale, Sun Valley, Fish Hoek, and Clovelly. Some rural aspects have been preserved in the form of heritage areas and parts of the Table Mountain National Park.

Da Gama Park is a suburb of the City of Cape Town in the Western Cape province of South Africa.Da Gama Park was founded as a township in the former Simon's Town district, north-west of the town. Situated in the Else River Valley, it was established for men of the Navy and their families. It was named after Vasco da Gama (?-1524), the Portuguese navigator.

Capri Village is a small suburb forming part of the greater area of Noordhoek on the Cape Peninsula, South Africa, situated between Kommetjie, De Oude Weg, Fish Hoek and Noordhoek.

Naval Base Simon's Town is the South African Navy's largest naval base, situated at Simon's Town, near Cape Town. The base provides support functions to Fleet Command.
