Amherstview Public School

Amherstview is an unincorporated community in the township of Loyalist, Ontario. It is located on the north shore of Lake Ontario and has a population of approximately 7,959 as of 2016. It is adjacent to the city of Kingston and is considered part of the Greater Kingston area. Amherstview is named for Amherst Island, directly to the south in Lake Ontario. When the community was first established in the 1950s, the spelling was generally "Amherst View". Amherst is a common place name found in many parts of Canada commemorating Lord Jeffrey Amherst (1717–97), Field-Marshal of the British Army, Commander-in-Chief in North America, and Governor General of British North America from 1760 to 1763.The community is the eastern end of the Loyalist Parkway, a stretch of Highway 33 that travels along Lake Ontario, in an area in which many United Empire Loyalists settled. Amherstview is home to Fairfield House which is itself situated in Fairfield Park on the shore of Lake Ontario. Fairfield House was constructed in 1793 by the Fairfield family who were among the first Loyalists to settle the area. It served as the family home and a portion of the building was also used as a tavern for some time. The impressive wood-frame building is now a museum exhibiting period artifacts and furniture and offering guided tours. Since Amherstview is part of Loyalist Township, it has no legal boundaries. General boundaries are Lake Ontario to the south, the Canadian National rail line to the north, Coronation Boulevard to the east (the City of Kingston boundary), and Lennox and Addington County Road 6 to the west.

Collins Bay is a bay and natural harbour, as well as a community, within the western part of the municipality of Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Collins Bay was at one time a small village, but it became absorbed by the city of Kingston. Now Collins Bay consists mostly of residential subdivisions (Highgate Park, Lawrence Park, Ridgewood Estates), a large conservation area (Lemoine Point), Kingston Norman Rogers Airport, and areas of agricultural land. The Collins Bay marina is situated on the bay itself. To the east is a large federal penitentiary, Collins Bay Institution. Collins Bay was named after the original surveyor of the region, John Collins. As of the 2011 census, the population in the residential subdivisions is middle class (average income ~100000), mostly married couples or families (mostly 2-4 persons) owning a single-detached house.

Lemoine Point Conservation Area is a 136-hectare (340-acre) recreational conservation area at the west end of Kingston, Ontario. The area is bordered by Collins Bay on the north and west sides, Lake Ontario on the south and Kingston/Norman Rogers Airport on the east.

Kingston Water Aerodrome (TC LID: CKN2) is located in Collins Bay of Lake Ontario, 5.1 nautical miles (9.4 km; 5.9 mi) west northwest of Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

RCAF Station Kingston was a World War II air training station built in 1940 at Collins Bay near Kingston, Ontario, Canada. The station was originally built by the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) for use by the Royal Air Force (RAF). Like other RAF schools in Canada, it was subject to RCAF administrative and operational control.

Kingston Norman Rogers Airport or YGK Airport (IATA: YGK, ICAO: CYGK), also known as Kingston Airport, is the main airport serving Kingston, Ontario and its metropolitan area. The airport is named after former MP Norman McLeod Rogers (Kingston City 1935–1940), Minister of Labour and then National Defence in Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King's cabinet. Located 4.3 nautical miles (8.0 km; 4.9 mi) west of downtown Kingston, Ontario, in the west end of the city, it is the largest airport in the region, in 2019 it was reported that 70,000 people travel through the airport each year.It is classified as an Airport of entry by Nav Canada and partnered with the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority. The airport was formally a military airbase and training school known as RCAF Station Kingston and as such the airport was originally built by Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), and is still home to Royal Canadian Air Force Association 416 Wing Kingston. The airport was owned and operated by the RCAF until after the end of World War II when the Department of Transport assumed ownership of the site and leased the airport to the City of Kingston. The airport faced challenges in maintaining profitability until the City of Kingston purchased it completely in 1974.

The John Howard Society of Canada is a Canadian non-profit organization that seeks to develop understanding and effective responses to the problem of crime and prison reform. It is named after John Howard, a philanthropist and early English prison reformer. The society works with adults, children, and youths to help rebuild their lives.

The Millhaven Fibres Plant opened September 28, 1955 as the third polyester plant in the world. It was originally built to manufacture a new type of synthetic yarn called Terylene, which is known as Dacron in the United States. Terylene polyester fibre was invented in England in 1940 and had wide application in the apparel trade and for industrial use. In 1966, Terylene underwent a name change, to Fortrel. This happened in the same year as the plant's name being changed The plant, at 5275 Bath Road, was built on a 70-acre site near Napanee, in Millhaven, Lennox and Addington County, Ontario, on the north shore of Lake Ontario. The project, in 1954, was initiated by Canadian Industries Limited, a wholly owned Canadian subsidiary of Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) Limited of Great Britain. Since then, the plant changed ownership several times and underwent a handful of expansions. The site was owned by ICI of Canada Ltd., Canadian Industries Limited, Millhaven Fibres Ltd., Celanese Canada, Hoechst, and KoSa at various points in its 55-year history, before Invista bought the 75-hectare site on Lake Ontario in 2004.

Cataraqui Centre, (formerly "Cataraqui Town Centre") is a shopping mall located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. It is the largest mall in southeastern Ontario with over 141 stores. The anchor store is a Hudson's Bay, There is also a vacant anchor store last occupied by Sears. It also includes a major transfer point for Kingston Transit with the Isabel Turner library branch at the edge of the parking lot.
