Ascot High School

Ferdi Neita Sports Complex (sometimes Feride) is a multi-use stadium in Portmore, Jamaica. It is currently used mostly for football matches and as a practising ground. It serves as a home ground of Portmore United F.C. The stadium holds 3,000 people.

Greater Portmore High School (G.P.H.S) is a government high school located in Portmore, Saint Catherine, Jamaica and founded in 1995. The school excels in rugby as four-time champions of SBR (School Boy Rugby) as well as Altogether Sing.

Portmore is a large urban settlement located along the southeastern coast of Jamaica in Saint Catherine, and a dormitory community for the neighbouring cities of Kingston and Spanish Town.

The Green Bay Massacre was a covert operation on 5 January 1978, in which five Jamaica Labour Party supporters were shot dead after being lured into an ambush at the Green Bay Firing Range by members of the Jamaica Defence Force.

Lazaretto Cairn Lighthouse guides vessels westward on their approach to Kingston Harbour. It appears to be a historic daybeacon converted to a lighted aid. It is located on a bluff on the west side of the harbour entrance, opposite Port Royal. It provides the rear light of the Rackhams Cay Range. Its ground is maintained by the Port Authority of Jamaica, an agency of the Ministry of Transport and Works.

The Invasion of Jamaica took place in May 1655, during the 1654 to 1660 Anglo-Spanish War, when an English expeditionary force captured Spanish Jamaica. It was part of an ambitious plan by Oliver Cromwell to acquire new colonies in the Americas, known as the Western Design. Although major settlements like Santiago de la Vega, now Spanish Town, were poorly defended and quickly occupied, resistance by escaped slaves, or Jamaican Maroons, continued in the interior. The Western Design was largely a failure, but Jamaica remained in English hands, and was formally ceded by Spain in the 1670 Treaty of Madrid. The Colony of Jamaica remained a British possession until independence in 1962.

Tamarind Farm Correctional Centre has accommodated over 275 male inmates on occasions.It is operated by the Department of Correctional Services for the Ministry of National Security.

Spanish Town Hospital is a hospital in Spanish Town, Jamaica. It is located near the city center.

Caymanas Park is Jamaica's only race track.It was historically a sugarcane estate in the Colony of Jamaica. It was originally owned by the Ellis family, including George Ellis and Charles Ellis, 1st Baron Seaford, who made substantial profits from sugar and slavery.It is mentioned in the Pioneers' 1969 song "Long Shot (Kick The Bucket)", which contains the line "What a weeping and a wailing down at Caymanas Park". Gangster Dennis Barth, known as "Copper", was killed in a shootout with police at the park.

Gregory Park railway station opened in 1845 and closed in 1992. It served the Gregory Park sugar estate on the Kingston to Montego Bay line, 6.5 miles (10.5 km) from the Kingston terminus. It was destroyed by fire sometime after closure.The station was a two-story, timber building The ground floor had timber doors and sash windows. The upper floor was partially cantilevered using a series of angled timber arms to the upper front elevation to form a canopy over the platform with a veranda above. The roof of the building was a T-shaped gable end.

Prison Oval is a multi-use stadium in Spanish Town, Jamaica, currently used mostly for football matches. It serves as the home ground of Rivoli United FC. The stadium holds 2,000 people. The name 'Prison Oval' is attributed to it being on the same property as the maximum security Saint Catherine Prison. Some prisoners are able to watch matches and other events from their cells. It is featured in the Barrington Levy song "Prison Oval Rock".

St. Catherine Adult Correctional Centre, Jamaica, formerly Saint Catherine District Prison and sometimes called Spanish Town Prison, was built to accommodate 850 male inmates but has held over 1300 on occasions. It contains the only death-row on the island.It is operated by the Department of Correctional Services for the Ministry of National Security
