It was constructed in 1929 and is considered an important historical site, according to the Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee of Rockcliffe Park, under the Ontario Heritage Act (1974).

The property has been owned and managed by the National Capital Commission since April 1986. The lot size, with a frontage of 228 feet (69 m) and depth of 225 feet (69 m), is slightly irregular. The property is 5.1 km (3.2 mi) from Ottawa's Parliament Buildings, whereas the prime minister's official residence is only 3.0 km (1.9 mi) away from Parliament. It is located in an area which contains many ambassadorial residences.

Elmwood School is a private day school for girls located in Rockcliffe Park in the city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It was founded in 1915 and is an International Baccalaureate World School. Elmwood School was the first school in North America to be accredited for all three levels of the IB Program - the Diploma Programme for students in the final two years of secondary school, the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for students aged 11–16, and the Primary Years Programme (PYP) for students aged 3–12. The school is also a member of the National Coalition of Girls' Schools and the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools. The faculty provides education to 400 students aged 4 to 18. Classes are small, with an average class size of 12 and a student to teacher ratio of 7:1. Tuition fees for the 2018–2019 school year are approximately $26,960 for grades 1 to 12 students. Rockcliffe Park (French: Parc Rockcliffe) is a neighbourhood in Rideau-Rockcliffe Ward, close to the centre of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Established in 1864, organized as a Police village in 1908, and an independent village from 1926, and ultimately amalgamated with the rest of Ottawa on January 1, 2001. As of 2011, it had a population of 2,021. In 1977 the entire village of Rockcliffe Park was designated a Heritage Conservation District. Rockcliffe Park is one of only a handful of surviving nineteenth-century communities of its kind in North America.

Ashbury College is an independent day and boarding school located in the Rockcliffe Park area of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It was originally founded in 1891 by former faculty of Bishop's College School in Quebec to accommodate BCS students living in Ottawa. Ashbury College moved to its current location in 1910. Previously, it occupied what now houses Senate of Canada offices. It is an International Baccalaureate World School, a member of the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools, and a member of Round Square. The school currently enrolls approximately 550 senior (grades 9-12) and 150 junior (grades 4-8) students. The current Head of School is Norman Southward, with Andrew Young directing the Junior School and Gary Godkin as the Head of Senior School. Ashbury College is an independent school which offers a joint Ontario High School Diploma and Ashbury College Diploma, as well as the International Baccalaureate Diploma and International Baccalaureate Bilingual Diploma. Originally a single-gender boys school, Ashbury began accepting female students in 1982. The male/female student proportion is approximately equal. Governor Bay, better known historically as Governor's Bay is a bay in the Ottawa River in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is roughly located between the neighbourhoods of New Edinburgh and Rockcliffe Park, below 24 Sussex, the official residence of the Prime Minister of Canada, and adjacent to Rideau Hall, the home of the Governor General of Canada.

McKay Lake (formerly Hemlock Lake, McKay's Lake, or MacKay Lake) is a meromictic lake located in the former Village of Rockcliffe Park in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The lake is named for Thomas McKay, one of the founders of Ottawa, who once owned all of Rockcliffe Park in the 19th century, including the lake. The lake was officially named McKay Lake in 1954 after Rockcliffe Park Village Council passed a by-law. Prior to that the lake often appeared on maps as "Hemlock Lake", but locals referred to it as McKay Lake.The lake was once a swimming hole. Today, the west side of the lake is lined with mansions, and a public path known as the "Dog Walk", a closed portion of Lansdowne Road, while the east side of the lake is home to the Caldwell-Carver Conservation Area. The lake is drained by an intermittent stream that travels north into the Ottawa River. Its watershed includes the nearby Beechwood Cemetery and the next-door Sand Pits Lake, better known as "The Pond". The lake is fed by an intermittent stream that flows into the lake from the southeast.
