The murder of Christopher Wallace, an American rapper better known by his stage names "the Notorious B.I.G." and "Biggie Smalls", occurred in the early hours of Sunday, March 9, 1997. The hip hop artist was shot four times in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles, California. He was 24 years old. In 2006, Wallace's mother, Voletta Wallace, his widow, Faith Evans, and his children T'yanna Jackson and Christopher Jordan "CJ" Wallace, filed a $400 million second wrongful death lawsuit against the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) alleging that corrupt officers were responsible for Wallace's death. Retired LAPD Officer Greg Kading alleged that Marion "Suge" Knight, the head of Death Row Records, orchestrated the murder in revenge for the September 1996 killing of Tupac Shakur in a similar drive-by homicide by gunshot.

The Saban Building, formerly the May Company Building, on Wilshire Boulevard in the Miracle Mile district of Los Angeles, is a celebrated example of Streamline Moderne architecture. The building's architect Albert C. Martin, Sr., also designed the Million Dollar Theater and Los Angeles City Hall. The May Company Building is a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. The building was operated as a May Company department store from 1939 until the store's closure in 1992, when May merged with J. W. Robinson's to form Robinsons-May. The building has been the home of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures since 2021. The Los Angeles Conservancy calls it "the grandest example of Streamline Moderne remaining in Los Angeles". It is especially noted for its gold-tiled cylindrical section that faces the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard at Fairfax Avenue, of which it occupies the northeast corner.

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is a museum in Los Angeles, California constructed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which is devoted to the history, science, and cultural impact of the film industry. It is the first large-scale museum of its kind in the United States. The museum is located in the historic May Company Building on the intersection Wilshire Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue, part of Museum Row on the Miracle Mile. Originally expected to open in 2020, its completion and opening was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The museum eventually opened to selected celebrity guests on September 25, 2021, and to the general public on September 30.

The Petersen Automotive Museum is located on Wilshire Boulevard along Museum Row in the Miracle Mile neighborhood of Los Angeles. One of the world's largest automotive museums, the Petersen Automotive Museum is a nonprofit organization specializing in automobile history and related educational programs.

A+D Museum, also known as Architecture and Design Museum, Los Angeles, is a museum located in downtown Los Angeles Arts District at 900 E 4th Street. Currently, it is led by its executive director and chief curator, Anthony Morey, a Los Angeles-based writer, theorist, designer and curator. A design think-tank, the A+D museum aspires to maintain its diverse and innovative activities to continue to bring contemporary, progressive and emerging design and architecture to international audiences.

Wilshire/Fairfax is an under-construction heavy-rail subway station in the LA Metro system in LA's Miracle Mile area along Wilshire Boulevard. It is slated to open in 2024. It will be served by the D Line (formerly Purple) and will be the second station west of Wilshire/Western station.

Metropolis II (2011) is a kinetic sculpture by Chris Burden at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Levitated Mass is a 2012 large-scale public art sculpture by Michael Heizer at Resnick North Lawn at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The installation consists of a 340-ton boulder sculpture placed above a 456-foot viewing pathway to accommodate 360-degree viewing. The nature, expense and scale of the installation attracted discussion within the public art world, and its notable 106-mile transit from the Jurupa Valley Quarry in Riverside County was widely covered by the media.The piece is open to the public during museum hours and does not require museum admission.

Urban Light (2008) is a large-scale assemblage sculpture by Chris Burden located at the Wilshire Boulevard entrance to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The 2008 installation consists of restored street lamps from the 1920s and 1930s. Most of them once lit the streets of Southern California.

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is an art museum located on Wilshire Boulevard in the Miracle Mile vicinity of Los Angeles. LACMA is on Museum Row, adjacent to the La Brea Tar Pits (George C. Page Museum). LACMA was founded in 1961, splitting from the Los Angeles Museum of History, Science and Art. Four years later, it moved to the Wilshire Boulevard complex designed by William Pereira. The museum's wealth and collections grew in the 1980s, and it added several buildings beginning in that decade and continuing in subsequent decades. In 2020, four buildings on the campus were demolished to make way for a reconstructed facility designed by Peter Zumthor. His design drew strong community opposition and was lambasted by architectural critics and museum curators, who objected to its reduced gallery space, poor design, and exorbitant costs.LACMA is the largest art museum in the western United States. It attracts nearly a million visitors annually. It holds more than 150,000 works spanning the history of art from ancient times to the present. In addition to art exhibits, the museum features film and concert series.

5900 Wilshire is a 132-metre (433 ft), 32-story skyscraper completed in 1971 in Los Angeles, California, United States. It is the tallest building in the Miracle Mile district, the second-tallest in the Wilshire Area, and the 38th-tallest in Los Angeles. The international-style building was designed by architect Gin Wong of William L. Pereira & Associates. The building, which includes tenants occupying entire floors all the way down to executive suites, is across Wilshire Boulevard from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The Ratkovich Company spent $34 million on a renovation which began in 2005 and was still in process in the second quarter of 2008. The renovation included a new lobby. The placement of a bus zone across the street at LACMA and the subsequent removal of the crosswalk that would have fed traffic to a proposed cafe caused a rethinking of those plans. It was built for the Mutual Benefit Life by the Shorenstein Co. of San Francisco. The 491,000-square-foot (45,600 m2) building was acquired by The Ratkovich Company in December 2005. In December 2008, the building became the official west coast headquarters for the entertainment newspaper Variety. The newspaper's name adorned the top of the building's north face in red letters until late 2013. In 2014, the building became the official west coast headquarters for SBE Entertainment Group. The company's logo is the current signage of the building.

Tom Bergin's Tavern is one of the oldest restaurant/bars in continuous operation in Los Angeles, California. Originally opened at 6110 Wilshire Boulevard in 1936 by lawyer Tom Bergin as The Old Horseshoe Tavern it has been at its current location at 840 South Fairfax Avenue, just south of Wilshire, since 1949. In previous years it has also been known as The Old Horseshoe Tavern and Kennel Club as well as Tom Bergin's Horseshoe Tavern and Thoroughbred Club. The restaurant and bar is considered by Angelenos as an institution.
