Eagle Newspapers is composed of six community newspapers and several niche publications serving Syracuse, New York and Central New York.

The Scare-A-Con Film Festival (formerly the B-Movie Film Festival) is an annual film festival held in Syracuse, United States. The festival was founded in 1999 by local filmmaker Ron Bonk to promote the art of B-movie making. It was canceled in its third year due to the effects of the September 11 attacks. It then existed primarily online or as a much smaller event for several years (during which it was profiled by The Wall Street Journal) and only restarted as a live event at the Palace Theatre in 2005. Many of the films entered are made on minimal budgets. Screenings can feature full-length films, documentaries, and shorts. Various genres are included, and selected films are usually reviewed for possible distribution. The festival defines a B-movie as "a production whose entertainment and artistic value exceeds the limitations of its budget." The festival's "Killer B" or "Tor" awards are sought after and prominently displayed by the winners. One film maker described being nominated for a B-Movie Film Festival award "like heaven to the world of independent filmmaking". It averages a B in reviews.

The Palace Theatre is a 1920s-era movie palace in the village of Eastwood in Syracuse, New York. It has been owned and operated by the same family for more than 80 years.

Anthony A. Henninger High School is a high school in the Syracuse City School District. Henninger is the largest of the four high schools in the district with an enrollment of approximately 1800 students.

Messina Springs was a small community, northwest of Messina (now East Syracuse), which was settled in the early 19th century around several mineral springs east of Syracuse, New York, United States, at the intersection of James Street and Thompson Road. James Street was then a main east–west road from Syracuse to Messina and Manlius Center. Thompson Road was a main north–south thoroughfare in eastern Onondaga County with the first bridge east of Syracuse to cross over the Erie Canal at Headson's Landing. Reputed to have healing powers, these springs attracted a large clientele, culminating in the late 19th century with a spa, hotel, casino and race track located there. The mania for such restorative waters had waned by early in the 20th century and Messina Springs declined. A fire consumed the hotel and casino around 1913. All that remains of this community is a tiny cemetery on James Street just west of Thomson Road. Lists of persons buried at this cemetery are available at Ancestry.com and FindaGrave.com

The Harry N. Burhans House is a historic Greek Revival house in the Salt Springs area of Syracuse, New York. With a wide lawn, it commands the intersection of old roads Salt Springs Road and East Genesee Street, the latter being one of the main roads of the area. Built in 1837 on a 100-acre (0.40 km2) plot, it was the first house in the area. In 1916, the house was renovated under supervision of architect Ward Wellington Ward. The renovation added four Mercer fireplaces. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. The house remains now on a plot of approximately 0.66-acre (2,700 m2).

Lyncourt is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in Onondaga County, New York, United States. The population was 4,250 at the 2010 census. Lyncourt is in the town of Salina.

Ashton House, also known as the Ashton residence, is a Ward Wellington Ward-designed home built in 1913 in Syracuse, New York. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Architecture of Ward Wellington Ward in Syracuse MPS in 1997.Features include a wraparound porch, a Mercer tile fireplace and a Keck studio stained glass interior window.It is located at 301 Salt Springs Road in the Salt Springs neighborhood of Syracuse.

The Fuller House, also known as the Fuller Residence, in Syracuse, New York was designed by Ward Wellington Ward. Along with other homes he designed, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. The house includes Craftsman architectural style elements. It is located directly across Salt Springs Road from the Harry N. Burhans House, a house that was substantially revised by Ward.

Hoeffer House, also known as the Hoeffler Residence, in Syracuse, New York, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. It was designed by Ward Wellington Ward and was built in 1923. It was listed for its architecture.
