Lentran railway station was a railway station serving Lentran on the Inverness and Ross-shire Railway, on the Inverness to Muir of Ord section opened in 1862. The line became part of the Highland Railway on 1 February 1865, then, at grouping in 1923, it became part of the London Midland and Scottish Railway. Initially it had two platforms on an extended loop and there was a small single siding with a loading bay. From 1, June 1914 the section between Clachnaharry and Clunes, which included Lentran, was doubled and was the only such track north of Inverness. There was a small timber-clad station building with a shelter and a small fifteen lever signal cabin The station closed in 1960 though the line is still in use as a single track controlled by Radio Electronic Token Block as part of the Far North Line. However, for one weekend in March 1982, Lentran had to reopen and serve as the line terminus while repair work was carried out on the canal bridge at Clachnaharry.

Lentran is a small hamlet in the Highland council area of Scotland. It is 1.8 miles (3 km) east of Kirkhill and 5 miles (8 km) west of Inverness, on the south shore of the Beauly Firth. They were then sold to a Mr. Warrand in 1787, and until 1812 the estate was known as "Warrandfield". It was then bought by Major Thomas Fraser of Clan Fraser, and restored to its former name.The name Lentran is of uncertain origin; some theories suggest it was previously called "Lanthon", though this is disputed. In July 1963, Lentran saw a flock of 153 Canada geese land on its shores, following a few, much smaller incidents in Yorkshire the year before. This was the first evidence of moult-migration for the bird within the British Isles.

Bunchrew railway station served the village of Bunchrew, Highland, Scotland from 1862 to 1964 on the Inverness and Ross-shire Railway.

Bunchrew (Scottish Gaelic: Bun Craobh, meaning "Near to the Tree") is a small village in the Highland council area of Scotland. It is around 3 miles (5 km) west of Inverness, close to the south shore of the Beauly Firth on the A862. The village has a small caravan park and camping site.In the past Bunchrew also had a small railway station as part of Inverness and Ross-shire Railway, opening in 1862. However, the station closed to passengers in 1960 and goods in 1964. In the late-19th century, Bunchrew had a large bone manure works close to its railway station. This was the subject of numerous investigations, due to the toxic fumes the factory emitted.

Moniack Burn (Scottish Gaelic: Mon-ìothag, meaning "Burn of the Corn Moss") is a small river in the Highland council area of Scotland. The stream flows from the hills of the Aird, its source near the hamlet of Foxhole, passing the settlements of South Clunes, Easter, and Kirkhill before draining into the Beauly Firth. In the past, Moniack was the name given both to the burn and its surrounding area. According to a late-14th century transumpt of charters detailing the bishopric of Moray, Moniack (or Munythoc), was one of the nine davochs of Dunballoch, a former parish in modern-day Kirkhill.In the Wardlaw Manuscript, written by the Rev. James Fraser in 1666, Moniack is referred to as the "Burn of Jack"—believed to be a corruption of its original Gaelic name. In 1637, the river suffered severe flooding, destroying several houses and drowning livestock in Easter.The river is also known as "Newton Burn" at its mouth, near the village of Kirkhill.

Loch Dochfour is a freshwater loch in the Scottish Highlands southwest of Inverness, part of the Great Glen. The southern end flows in through the Bona narrows from Loch Ness. The northern end flows out through the Caledonian Canal and the River Ness towards the Beauly and Moray Firths to the North Sea. Before construction of the Caledonian Canal, Loch Ness ended at Lochend, flowing into the River Ness. The building of the Dochgarroch weir by Thomas Telford between 1825 and 1830 raised the water level of the river upstream by almost two metres, flooded the riverside back to Loch Ness, and created Loch Dochfour.This means that Loch Dochfour can be seen as that part of the River Ness upstream from the weir, or as an extension of Loch Ness northwards to the weir, or as part of the Caledonian Canal, or as a loch in itself. The Bathymetrical survey of the Scottish fresh-water lochs considered Loch Dochfour to be distinct from Loch Ness proper, but capable of being regarded as forming part of Loch Ness.

Inchmore (Scottish Gaelic: Innis Mhòr, meaning "Large Island in the Marsh") in the Highland council area of Scotland, just south of the Beauly Firth. It is 0.9 miles southeast (1.5 km) southeast of the village of Kirkhill and 6.2 miles (10 km) west of Inverness. The A862 runs directly through the middle of the village. Historically, part of the village was known as Bogroy, from the Scottish Gaelic "Bòg Ruadh" meaning "Reddish-brown bog". Although the bog has since been drained, the village's pub, the Old North Inn, is colloquially still known as "The Bogroy". The village has a progressive art gallery within the old church, showcasing new works by Highland artists.

Dochgarroch (Scottish Gaelic: Dabhach Gairbheach) is a settlement that lies at the start of the Caledonian Canal, at the head of Loch Ness in Inverness-shire, Scottish Highlands and is in the Scottish council area of Highland.

Lochend (Scottish Gaelic: Ceann Loch) is a settlement that lies at the start of the Caledonian Canal, at the head of Loch Ness in Inverness-shire, Scottish Highlands and is in the Scottish council area of Highland. It is the location of the Bona Lighthouse.

Aldourie Castle is in Scotland, situated on Strath Dore, between the southern banks of Loch Ness and the Glen leading onto Drumashie Moor. The parkland of 38.9 hectares (96 acres) extends northeast and southeast of the house. Lying close to the village of Aldourie, it originally consisted of a rectangular main block, with a round tower at the south-west corner. In the 1860s, William Fraser-Tytler extended the castle in all directions, including a balustraded round tower, oriel windows, scroll-sided dormers, turrets, corbels, rope-moulded stringing and gunloops. It underwent extensive restoration work between 2002 and 2010, and again in 2017, when the original walled Victorian kitchen garden and surrounding grounds were revived, with help from students from the National Trust for Scotland. The gardens and parkland are included in the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland.

The Aird (from Scottish Gaelic: An Àird (IPA: [an ˈaːɾʃt̪]) meaning "The High Place") is an area of the County of Inverness, to the west of the City of Inverness. It is situated to the south of the River Beauly and the Beauly Firth, and to the north of Glenurquhart and the northern end of Loch Ness. Villages within the Aird include Kirkhill, Kiltarlity, Lentran and Inchmore. It is the traditional heart of the Clan Fraser of Lovat's territory, containing their family seat of Beaufort Castle. The first known Lord of the Aird, however, was Iain Mac Eoin Nan Gleann or "John Bisset of the Glens" in English. The area gives its name to a Highland Council ward - "Aird and Loch Ness".

Aldourie (Scottish Gaelic: Allt Dobharaidh meaning dark water or stream water) is an historic Estate on the east shore of Loch Ness. It lies about 7 miles (11 km) southwest of Inverness and is within the council of Highland, Scotland. Aldourie Castle had minor alterations to the dining room and other sundry areas designed by Robert Lorimer in 1902.In 2015, Aldourie Castle was purchased for £15 million by Danish billionaire Anders Holch Povlsen
