Lower Nine Mile River, Nova Scotia

Nine Mile River is a community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in the Municipal District of East Hants. It takes its name from the river which flows through it. It is District 9 for the Municipality of East Hants, and currently served by Councillor Eldon Hebb.

Lantz was considered by Statistics Canada as a "Retired population centre."As of 2011, the population according to Nova Scotia government was 3,326 but only 1,533 according to Statistics Canada. In 2016 Census, Statistics Canada reported the population of Lantz was 2,229, an increase of 45.4%.

Indian Brook 14 is a Mi'kmaq reserve located in Hants County, Nova Scotia. In the 2016 Census, the reserve has 1,089 residents.It is administratively part of the Sipekneꞌkatik First Nation.

Shubenacadie 13 is a Mi'kmaq reserve located in Halifax County, Nova Scotia. It is administratively part of the Shubenacadie First Nation. Michael Francklin established the reserve in 1779.

Shubenacadie Grand Lake is a large Canadian lake straddling the Halifax Regional Municipality and Hants county on mainland Nova Scotia. It drains into the Shubenacadie River at its northeastern outlet. The lake is the seventh and largest lake in the Shubenacadie Canal system and is located between Lock 5 and 6. Shubenacadie Grand Lake hosts two provincial parks, Laurie Provincial Park and Oakfield Provincial Park, both on its eastern shore. Shubenacadie Grand Lake has been under blue-green algae advisories during recent warm seasons due to harmful algal blooms. Deaths among dogs in Atlantic Canada have been associated with their consumption of cyanobacteria toxin-contaminated water. An increasing frequency of algal blooms may be attributable to the effects of climate change.
