Fort Williams was a timber and earthwork fortification constructed in Alexandria, Virginia as part of the defenses of Washington, D.C. during the American Civil War.

Charles M. Goodman House is a historic home located at Alexandria, Virginia. It consists of a two-story 1870s Victorian-era farmhouse with an unusual International Style addition designed by architect Charles M. Goodman in 1954. Also on the property are the contributing stone-lined well (c. 1870s), a wooden fence (1954), and discontinuous low stone walls (1954).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

Phoenix Mill (also named Dominion Mill and Brick Water Mill) is a historic gristmill built in 1801 and the last remaining gristmill building in Alexandria, Virginia. It was built on the same site as an earlier mill, built sometime between 1770 and 1789, with current best research putting it around 1776, that was destroyed in a fire.William Hartshorne owned the mill when it burned down and rebuilt it as a four-story mill with four millstones. In 1812 it was offered up for auction as part of the larger Strawberry Hill farm and sold in 1813. It primarily milled wheat but also advertised having plaster available for sale in 1819.It was sold for $9,000 in 1854 when it was advertised, with the name Brick Water Mill, as having four burrs and the capacity "to grind 100 barrels of flour per day". By 1865 it had been renamed Dominion Mill. By 1930 it had stopped operating.As of 2023, it is unoccupied and was most recently occupied by the Flippo Construction company, and the land it sits on is 2.0 acres (0.81 ha) in size. The Alexandria Police Department opened a new headquarters near the site in 2011, and a self-storage facility is immediately adjoining the mill's site. As part of the self-storage facility development, in 2017, the development company and the city of Alexandria conducted a study and archaeological assessment of the property. As part of potential highspeed rail on the neighboring railway, its historical significance was evaluated in a 2018 report and recommended the site as likely eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. No known stone mills survive in Alexandria's original boundaries, and Phoenix Mill is the only such mill in the current Alexandria after Alexandria annexed the land.

Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS), formally called the Protestant Episcopal Theological Seminary in Virginia, located at 3737 Senminary Road in Alexandria, Virginia is the largest and second oldest accredited Episcopal seminary in the United States.Established in 1823, VTS is situated on an 80-acre (320,000 m2) suburban campus in Alexandria, Virginia, close to downtown Washington, DC and adjacent to the campus of Episcopal High School. The seminary's notable alumni have taken leadership roles in the Episcopal Church, other Christian denominations in the United States, and overseas. VTS is a member of the Washington Theological Consortium and since 1938 has been an accredited member institution of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS).

Vaucluse was a villa in Fairfax County, Virginia, three miles (5 km) from Alexandria and 10 miles (16 km) from Washington, D.C., on a hill near the Virginia Theological Seminary, that was owned first by Dr. James Craik, and later by the Fairfax family, the first being Thomas Fairfax, 9th Lord Fairfax of Cameron.

Fort Worth was a timber and earthwork fortification constructed west of Alexandria, Virginia as part of the defenses of Washington, D.C. during the American Civil War. Built in the weeks following the Union defeat at Bull Run, Fort Worth was situated on a hill north of Hunting Creek, and Cameron Run, (which feeds into it). From its position on one of the highest points west of Alexandria, the fort overlooked the Orange and Alexandria Railroad, the Little River Turnpike, and the southern approaches to the city of Alexandria, the largest settlement in Union-occupied Northern Virginia. In modern times, the site of Fort Worth sits within the boundaries the City of Alexandria (the land west of Quaker Lane, was annexed from Fairfax County in the 1950s) just off Seminary Road. Fort Worth Ave, a residential street approximates Fort Worth's Civil War location. It was named for William Jenkins Worth.

The President Gerald R. Ford Jr. House is a historic house at 514 Crown View Drive in Alexandria, Virginia. Built in 1955, it was the home of Gerald Ford from then until his assumption of the United States Presidency on August 9, 1974. The house is typical of middle-class housing in the northern Virginia suburbs of Washington from that period. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and declared a National Historic Landmark in 1985 for its association with the Fords.

Port City Brewing Company is a craft brewery located in Alexandria, Virginia. It is the first production brewery to operate in Alexandria since Prohibition, when the Robert Portner Brewing Company closed its doors. Port City was named the 2015 Small Brewing Company of the Year at the Great American Beer Festival.

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School (SSSAS) is an independent Episcopal coed private college preparatory school in Alexandria, Virginia. The school was created from the 1991 merger of St. Agnes School (a girls' school founded in 1924) with St. Stephen's School (a boys' school founded in 1944). The school consists of three campuses within a 1.5-mile radius. The Lower School, grades JK-5, is located on Fontaine Street; the Middle School, grades 6-8, is located on Braddock Road; and the Upper School, grades 9-12, is located on St. Stephen's Road. St. Stephens & St. Agnes honor code is "I will not lie, cheat, or steal nor tolerate those who do". St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School serves students from across Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. The old St. Stephen's was one of the founding schools of the Interstate Athletic Conference.

Alexandria City High School (formerly named T. C. Williams High School until 2021) is a public high school in the City of Alexandria, Virginia, United States, just outside of Washington, D.C. The school has an enrollment of over 4,100 students. The high school is located near the geographic center of the city, at 3330 King Street and is referred to informally as the "Titans" by students, faculty and locals. The school offers numerous Advanced Placement courses for its students. Alexandria City HS has an Army Junior ROTC program which participated in President Barack Obama's Inaugural Parade. The ACHS Marching Band travels to competitions up and down the East Coast.The school's football team was the subject of the 2000 film Remember the Titans. The school was renamed Alexandria City High School on July 1, 2021 following protests over the fact that the school's namesake, the former superintendent of Alexandria City Public Schools T.C. Williams, was an ardent supporter of racial segregation.

The Holy Hill 130-acre (53-hectare) campus houses 440 students from 31 states, the District of Columbia and 16 countries. The school is 100-percent boarding and is the only all-boarding school of its caliber located in a major metropolitan area.
