Acerra Cathedral

The Diocese of Acerra (Latin: Dioecesis Acerrarum) is a Roman Catholic ecclesiastical territory in Campania, southern Italy, eight miles east of Naples, in the area once called Terra Laboris (Liburia). It has existed since the 11th century. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Naples.The diocese has one priest for every 2,436 Catholics.

Pomigliano Airfield was a military airfield and base established in 1938–39 in Pomigliano d'Arco, southern Italy near Naples. It was attacked on several occasions by the United States Army Air Force. The airfield was later used by the USAAF Twelfth Air Force during the Italian campaign. The Alfa Romeo Pomigliano d'Arco plant, commonly called simply Stellantis Pomigliano, is an automotive assembly plant now owned by Stellantis, officially known as the Giambattista Vico Plant since 2008, in memory of the Neapolitan philosopher. The plant, originally designed and constructed in 1968 by Alfa Romeo, is located largely in the town of Pomigliano d'Arco, and partially in the town of Acerra, employing roughly 6,000. Production began in 1972, and Alfa Romeo production ended with the Alfa Romeo 159 in October 2011. The factory began assembling the current generation Fiat Panda in 2011.

Casalnuovo di Napoli (Italian: [kaˌzalˈnwɔːvo di ˈnaːpoli]) is an Italian comune (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Naples in the Italian region Campania, located about 13 kilometres (8 miles) northeast of Naples. The municipality of Casalnuovo di Napoli contains the frazioni (hamlets) of: Casarea, Tavernanova, Licignano and Talona. Casalnuovo di Napoli borders the following municipalities: Acerra, Afragola, Casoria, Pollena Trocchia, Pomigliano d'Arco, Sant'Anastasia, Volla, Somma Vesuviana . The municipal capital stands on the ruins of Archora, one of the villages that had given rise to the neighboring city of Afragola , and also includes the suppressed municipality of Licignano di Napoli, corresponding to the Roman settlement of Licinianum. It also includes the towns of Tavernanova and Casarea, acquired in 1929 by spin-off from the municipalities of Pomigliano d'Arco and Afragola. From an ecclesiastical point of view, instead, the parishes are divided between the archdiocese of Naples (city centre and Casarea fraction), the diocese of Acerra (Licignano and Talona fraction) and the diocese of Nola (Tavernanova fraction).

Naples Afragola is an Italian high-speed railway station near Naples that was inaugurated on 6 June 2017, with regular traffic for passengers starting from 11 June 2017. The station is located in the city of Afragola, in the Naples metropolitan area, and was developed to serve all high-speed trains on the Rome–Naples high-speed line, aside from those that do not start or finish at Napoli Centrale station, but instead operate over the Naples–Salerno high-speed line. Napoli Afragola station was conceived of under a wider plan calling for 13 new stations at various sections along Italy's existing high-speed rail network. Designed by British-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid, Afragola station, nicknamed the ‘Gateway to the South’, is considered a major transport hub and regional gateway for Naples, operating as a major rail interchange for Italy's southern region, serving four individual high-speed lines, three inter-regional lines, and a single local commuter route.

The Battle of Suessula was the third and last battle between the Samnites and the Roman Republic in 343 BC, the first year of the First Samnite War. According to the Augustan historian Livy, the Samnites gathered their army at Suessula, at the eastern edge of Campania. The Roman consul Marcus Valerius Corvus took his army by forced marches to Suessula. When the Samnites had to scatter their army to forage for food, Valerius seized the opportunity to capture the Samnite camp and then rout the Samnite foragers. Modern historians believe that details of the battle were entirely invented by Livy and his annalistic sources, and the battle's historicity has also been questioned.

Brusciano is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Naples, in Italy, on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius. Situated inland north-east of Naples, 10 miles from center city, the ancient village of rural vocation has developed along the way National Puglia, in the stretch that connects the east of the capital and Pomigliano d'Arco and Nola. Its territory in the middle of the plain bell sits in the shadow of the area Vesuvius, is between the slopes of Monte Somma and the plain of Acerra is crossed by Regi Lagni. Has a particular geological origin: ash, lava and volcanic tuff resulting from the Vesuvius formed the substrate on which it was formed on local soil. The surface layer shows a depth of order few meters, with a particular composition of elements and sandy-clay mixed with volcanic ash, lava and pumice.

Castello di Cisterna (also unofficially Castel Cisterna) is a comune (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Naples in the Italian region Campania, located about 15 km northeast of Naples. Castello di Cisterna borders the following municipalities: Acerra, Brusciano, Pomigliano d'Arco, Somma Vesuviana.

Afragola (Italian: [afraˈɡoːla]; Neapolitan: Afravola [afraˈvoːlə], locally [afraˈoːrə]) is a city and comune in the Metropolitan City of Naples, in Italy. It is one of the 100 largest Italian cities (the ones that have a population of more than 63,000 inhabitants). The communal territory, measuring 18 square kilometres (7 square miles), borders the municipalities of Acerra, Casalnuovo di Napoli, Caivano, Cardito and Casoria, forming a single metropolitan area of around 100,000 inhabitants. The comune of Afragola is one of the most densely populated of the country.

Mariglianella is a comune (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Naples in the Italian region Campania, located about 20 km northeast of Naples. As of 31-7-2022, it had a population of 7,729 and an area of 3.2 km2.Mariglianella borders the following municipalities: Brusciano, Marigliano.

The triangle of death (Italian: Triangolo della morte) is an area approximately 25 km northeast of the city of Naples in the Province of Naples, Campania, Italy, that comprises the comuni of Acerra, Nola and Marigliano. This area contains the largest illegal waste dump in Europe due to a waste management crisis in the 1990s and 2000s.The region has experienced a rise in cancer-related mortality that is linked to exposure of pollution from the illegal waste disposal by the Camorra criminal organization after regional landfills had been filled to capacity.The phenomenon of widespread environmental crime perpetrated by criminal syndicates like the Camorra and 'Ndrangheta has given rise to the term "ecomafia".
