Mont Saint-Grégoire

CFZZ-FM is a French-language Canadian radio station located in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec and serving Greater Montreal as a rimshot signal. Owned and operated by Bell Media, it is part of the "Boom" network. As such, the station has an oldies format. Originally known as CHRS, the station operated on 1090 kHz as one of the very few daytime-only stations in Canada. Thanks to errors from BBM, CHRS once managed in the 1970s a third-place in ratings during evenings—a time when the station was not even on the air. The station added nighttime service in 1988 when it moved to 1040, While the 1090 kHz frequency remains unused, the 1040 frequency was used from 1999 to 2020 by CJMS 1040 in Saint-Constant, just south of Montreal. The station switched to FM and adopted its current call sign in 1992, going under the name Z-104, Le Rocker Sympathique. Z was a community radio station with a mainly adult contemporary format. Power Corporation, which had owned the station since the early 1990s, sold Z-104 to Corus Entertainment in 2000. Ownership of the station changed hands again in 2005 when it was transferred to Astral Media as part of an exchange of assets between Corus and Astral. Astral Media promptly dropped the "Z" moniker. Community radio programs were abolished and the station was integrated to the "Boom FM" network. On May 21, 2018, the French-language Boom stations flipped to an adult contemporary format. CFZZ broadcasts on 104.1 MHz with an effective radiated power of 1,350 watts (class B) using an omnidirectional antenna.

Mont-Saint-Grégoire (French pronunciation: [mɔ̃ sɛ̃ ɡʁeɡwaʁ]) is a municipality in the province of Quebec, Canada, located in the Regional County Municipality of Le Haut-Richelieu. The population as of the Canada 2011 Census was 3,086. Residents of Mont-Saint-Grégoire are called Grégoriens (Grégoriennes, fem.).

Iberville is a provincial electoral district in the Montérégie region of the province of Quebec, Canada. It is located south of Montreal. It includes part of the city of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, as well as Marieville, Saint-Césaire and Mont Saint-Grégoire. It was created for the 1867 election, and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada. It was named after former New France explorer Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville. The city of Saint-Pie was lost to the Saint-Hyacinthe district in the 2011 electoral map, updated from the 2001 map. Since the 1980s, three Iberville MNAs have crossed the floor: Yvon Lafrance, elected liberal (1989) becomes in 1994 the first ADQ sitting in history André Riedl, elected adéquiste (2007) joins the liberal government in 2008 Claire Samson, elected in 2014 and 2018 as a member of the CAQ, in 2021 joins the Conservative Party of Quebec, and becomes its first sitting member in the national assembly.Note: Manitoba also has a provincial electoral district named Iberville, and there was also a federal Iberville electoral district.

Marieville is a city in the Canadian province of Quebec. It is located within the Rouville Regional County Municipality in the Montérégie region about 30 km (19 mi) east of Montreal. The population as of the Canada 2021 Census was 11,332.

Richelieu/Messier Aerodrome (TC LID: CRM3) is located 3.5 nautical miles (6.5 km; 4.0 mi) south of the community of Richelieu, Quebec, Canada.

Iberville was a city in the Montérégie region of the Canadian province of Quebec on the east side of the Richelieu River, across from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. It was about 30 miles (50 km) from Montreal, and about the same distance from the United States border at the head of Lake Champlain. In 2002, Iberville merged with neighbouring Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, along with several other neighbouring towns and villages. The population of Iberville in 2006 was 9,989, up 6% from the 2001 census. The last mayor of Iberville was Jean Rioux, who later became a Liberal MNA in the National Assembly of Quebec and a Liberal MP in the House of Commons of Canada.

The Chambly Canal is a National Historic Site of Canada in the Province of Quebec, running along the Richelieu River past Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Carignan, and Chambly. Building commenced in 1831 and the canal opened in 1843. It served as a major commercial route during a time of heightened trade between the United States and Canada. Trade dwindled after World War I, and as of the 1970s, traffic has been replaced by recreational vessels. It is part of a waterway that connects the Saint Lawrence River with the Hudson River in the United States. Lake Champlain and the Champlain Canal form the U.S. portion of the Lakes to Locks Passage. The Canal has 10 bridges—8 of which are hand operated—and nine hydraulic locks. L île Sainte-Thérèse (English: Sainte-Thérèse Island) is a river island of the Richelieu River. It belongs to the territory of the municipality of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, in the Saint-Luc sector, in the Le Haut-Richelieu Regional County Municipality, in the region administrative Montérégie, in the south of province of Quebec, in Canada.

L'île Sainte-Marie (English: Sainte-Marie Island) is a river island of the Richelieu River. It is located in the territory of the municipality of Carignan, in the La Vallée-du-Richelieu Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region from Montérégie, in the south of province of Quebec, to Canada. Île Sainte-Marie is located downstream from Sainte-Thérèse Island, from which it is separated by a narrow channel.

The Sainte-Thérèse Raid was a military raid on the town of Sainte-Thérèse in French Canada conducted by British elite forces known as Rogers' Rangers that took place during the French and Indian War from 3 to 18 June 1760. Led by Robert Rogers the raid was a pre-emptive strike ordered by Major General Jeffery Amherst as a prelude to his three pronged attack on Montreal the following month. Setting off from Fort Crown Point they had to fight against a superior force of French and their allied natives along the shores of Lake Champlain. The Rangers then advanced further north to strike at the Forts of Chambly, Saint-Jean and Île aux Noix. Rogers seeing them too well defended, struck at Sainte-Thérèse instead realising it was an important supply hub. Through a clever ruse he destroyed the fort, supplies and settlement capturing prisoners and gaining valuable information before arriving back at Crown Point.

The Cathedral of Saint-Jean-l'Évangéliste (St. John the Evangelist) is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saint-Jean-Longueuil in Canada. It is located in the city of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec.

The siege of Fort St. Jean (September 17 – November 3, 1775 French: Siège du Fort Saint-Jean) was conducted by American Brigadier General Richard Montgomery on the town and fort of Saint-Jean, also called St. John, St. Johns, or St. John's, in the British province of Quebec during the American Revolutionary War. The siege lasted from September 17 to November 3, 1775. After several false starts in early September, the Continental Army established a siege around Fort St. Jean. Beset by illness, bad weather, and logistical problems, they established mortar batteries that were able to penetrate into the interior of the fort, but the defenders, who were well-supplied with munitions, but not food and other supplies, persisted in their defence, believing the siege would be broken by forces from Montreal under General Guy Carleton. On October 18, the nearby Fort Chambly fell, and on October 30, an attempt at relief by Carleton was thwarted. When word of this made its way to St. Jean's defenders, combined with a new battery opening fire on the fort, the fort's defenders capitulated, surrendering on November 3. The fall of Fort St. Jean opened the way for the American army to march on Montreal, which fell without battle on November 13. General Carleton escaped from Montreal, and made his way to Quebec City to prepare its defences against an anticipated attack.
