Edgewood School District

The Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf (WPSD) is a school for deaf and hard of hearing children in Edgewood, Pennsylvania. It was established in 1869. The school is listed as a Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmark. The administrative building was built in 1903 by architects Alden & Harlow.

Edgewood is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States, adjacent to the city of Pittsburgh. The population was 3,118 at the 2010 census.

The Gardner-Bailey House at 124 West Swissvale Avenue in Edgewood, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, was built in 1864. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 1, 1974, and the List of Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmarks in 1984. The main section of the house has a square floor plan with four rooms on the first floor linked by a central hall, an extensive staircase, and three bedrooms and a bath on the second floor. A large dining room is directly to the rear and followed by a large kitchen with servant's quarters. A detached carriage house with turntable is located at the rear of the property.

Hamnett is a station on the East Busway, located in Wilkinsburg and near Edgewood. There is a park and ride lot close to the station.

Alpine Arena was an ice rink located in Swissvale, Pennsylvania, 9 miles (14 km) east of downtown Pittsburgh. Originally an outdoor skating rink, an indoor venue opened in 1967. It hosted ice hockey at the high school and collegiate levels, as well as rock concerts and other events. In 1975, the arena was transformed into tennis courts. As of 2008, the building is still standing.

Hamnett Historic District is a historic district in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania. Bordered roughly by Rebecca Avenue, the rear property lines on the east side of Center Street, Sewer Way, and Lytle Way, it encompasses 77 buildings and 114 acres.This district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 28, 2010.

Trundle Manor is a macabre art museum and oddity tourist trap in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was founded by artist couple and Anton and Rachel Miriello and houses their personal collection of cryptozoology, vintage taxidermy, and jarred specimens.When entertaining guests, Anton Miriello and Rachel Miriello go by Mr. Arm and Velda Von Minx respectively. Visitors are asked to donate items to the collection for tour payment. Donations vary from booze, former pets now preserved in jars, to killing implements.

On March 9, 2016, six people were killed and three others injured in a mass shooting at a suburban house in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, United States, near Pittsburgh. One of the victims was a pregnant woman, whose unborn baby was added to the number of fatalities on the day after the shooting. Two men, Cheron Shelton and Robert Thomas, were charged in connection with the shooting, but charges against Thomas were later dropped and Shelton was acquitted at trial in 2020.

Swissvale is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, 9 miles (14 km) east of downtown Pittsburgh. Named for a farmstead owned by James Swisshelm, during the industrial age it was the site of the Union Switch and Signal Company of George Westinghouse. The population was 8,983 at the 2010 census. In 1940, 15,919 people lived there.

The Mr. Roboto Project is an all-ages, Do It Yourself (DIY), nonprofit volunteer-run cooperative venue and show space in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Since the fall of 2011, it has been located at 5106 Penn Avenue. The structure of The Mr. Roboto Project was modeled partially after the 924 Gilman St club in Berkeley, CA, combined with elements of the East End Food Co-op in Pittsburgh, PA.

The Sperling Building (also known as the Mercantile Building) located at 1007–1013 Penn Avenue in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, was built for John Sperling in 1902. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 10, 2005.

Wilkinsburg is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The borough has a population of 15,930 as of the 2010 census. Wilkinsburg is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The borough was named for John Wilkins Jr., a United States Army officer who served as Quartermaster General of the United States Army from 1796 to 1802.
