Thomas Nelson House (Boonville, Missouri)

Boonville Correctional Center (BCC) is located at 1216 East Morgan Street in Boonville, Missouri. It is a minimum security (C-1 state penitentiary housing approximately 1,300 male inmates.BCC was constructed in 1889 as the Missouri Training School for Boys. The facility was transferred to the Department of Corrections on July 1, 1983, and operates to this day in that capacity. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 as Historic District H.: 40–42  Notable buildings on its campus still standing are the Food Commissary and Supply Commissary, the oldest remaining buildings. They are accompanied by the old Administration Building which bears a dedication from its original construction under Governor John S. Marmaduke. Marmaduke had lost the First Battle of Boonville in 1861 as the commander of the confederate forces directed to hold the city. The First Battle of Boonville occurred across the street from the present day location of the facility.

Historic District F is a national historic district located at Boonville, Cooper County, Missouri. It encompasses 40 contributing buildings in a predominantly residential section of Boonville. The district includes representative examples of Greek Revival and Late Victorian style architecture. Notable buildings include the Gann-Ruddell Residence (1840–70, 1906), Weed Residence (1897), Weed Residence (1860s-1870s), Embry Residence (1853), Foursquare Gospel Church (1852, 1956), Heyssel Residence (1860s), Hayes Residence (1892-1900), Earhart Residence (1899), Maplewood Apartment (1892), and Smith/Whitehurse Residence (1850s-1860s).: 35–39 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Wilbur T. and Rhoda Stephens Johnson House, also known as the Missouri State DAR Headquarters and Roslyn Heights, is a historic home located at Boonville, Cooper County, Missouri. It was built in 1895, and is a three-story, Queen Anne style red brick and limestone dwelling with elements of the Richardsonian Romanesque. It has a full basement, a porte cochere, and a full-length front entrance porch. It features projecting porches, turrets and bays, a circular tower, and terra cotta panels. It was purchased by the Missouri State Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution for their state headquarters in 1983.: 2 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

John S. Dauwalter House is a historic home located at Boonville, Cooper County, Missouri. It was built about 1869, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, vernacular brick dwelling. A front gable ell was added about 1880, and a rear shed addition and enclosure of a recessed corner porch completed about 1920. Also on the property are the contributing gable roofed cow barn, a shed roofed storage building, and a two-room wash house with a saltbox roof.: 2 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Morton–Myer House is a historic home located at Boonville, Cooper County, Missouri. It was built about 1859 and enlarged about 1870, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, vernacular brick dwelling with a central hall plan. It has a rear ell and rear shed additions and partial basement. Also on the property are the contributing brick smokehouse and stone cellar.: 2 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Duke and Mary Diggs House is a historic home located at Boonville, Cooper County, Missouri. It was built about 1869, and is a one-story, central hall plan, vernacular brick dwelling. It rests on rough cut stone foundation laid in regular courses and has a gable roof.: 2 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Historic District E is a national historic district located at Boonville, Cooper County, Missouri. It encompasses 88 contributing buildings in a predominantly residential section of Boonville. The district includes representative examples of Late Victorian style architecture. Notable buildings include the Dyer Residence (1870), Burns Residence (c. 1855), Rennison Residence (1890s), Lauer Residence (1830-1833), Robinson Residence (1905), Bell Residence (1886), Schuster Residence (1833), Kempf Residence (1890s), Cooper County Court Property (1847-1848, 1871), Morgan Street Baptist Church (1884), Waible Residence (1833-1848), and United Church of Christ (1887-1888, 1915–1916).: 26–35 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Andrews-Wing House is a historic house located in Boonville, Cooper County, Missouri.

Lyric Theater, also known as Thespian Hall, is a historic theatre in Boonville, Cooper County, Missouri, United States. It was built in 1855–1857, and is a two-story, rectangular Greek Revival–style brick building. The front facade features a portico with four unfluted Doric columns constructed of wedge-shaped brick. The building was enlarged in 1901. When originally constructed, the basement was used as reading room, the main floor was used as combined theater and lecture hall or auditorium, and the second floor housed the city hall, a Masonic lodge, and an Odd Fellows hall.: 2 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969. It is located in Historic District D.

The First Battle of Boonville was a minor skirmish of the American Civil War, occurring on June 17, 1861, near Boonville in Cooper County, Missouri. Although casualties were extremely light, the battle's strategic impact was far greater than one might assume from its limited nature. The Union victory established what would become an unbroken Federal control of the Missouri River, and helped to thwart efforts to bring Missouri into the Confederacy. Four battles were fought at Boonville during the Civil War: the first battle forms the main subject of this article, while the others are described below under other battles at Boonville.

The district includes representative examples of Late Victorian and Classical Revival style architecture. Located in the district is the separately listed Lyric Theater. Other notable buildings include the Geiger's Furniture and Appliance (1870s), Missouri Power and Light Co (1900-1910), Palace Restaurant and Cocktail Lounge (mid-1800s), Boonville Music Co. (1870s), Nelson Memorial Methodist Church (1915-1917), United Missouri Bank (1914), Knights of Pythias Building (1920), First Presbyterian Church (1833, 1904), P.N. Hirsch & Co. Department Store (1860s-1870s), Cooper County Recorder (mid-1800s), Cooper County Abstract and Insurance Co. (1910), and Cooper County Courthouse (1911-1912).: 16–26 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
