Hook's Tavern

Frye's Inn is an early 19th-century stagecoach inn and tavern near the "Capon Bridge" that crosses the Cacapon River in Capon Bridge, West Virginia.

Capon Bridge is a town in eastern Hampshire County, West Virginia, United States, along the Northwestern Turnpike (U.S. Route 50), approximately 20 miles (32 km) west of Winchester, Virginia. The population was 418 at the 2020 census. Originally known as "Glencoe", Capon Bridge was incorporated in 1902 by the Hampshire County Circuit Court. It is named because of the construction of the bridge over the Cacapon River at that place, with the name of the river being derived from the Shawnee Cape-cape-de-hon, meaning "river of medicine water".

The Battle of Great Cacapon — also known as Mercer's Massacre — was fought on April 18, 1756 between members of Colonel George Washington's Virginia Regiment and French-allied Shawnee and Delaware Indians. Captain Mercer and a company of his men were pursuing some Indians when they were ambushed by a larger number of Indian raiders. Mercer and at least 16 of his men were killed.

Edwards Run is a 7.9-mile-long (12.7 km) tributary stream of the Cacapon River, belonging to the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay watersheds. The stream is located in Hampshire County in the U.S. state of West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle. Edwards Run is named for Joseph Edwards and his family, whose plantation encompassed most of the stream's course. George Washington surveyed his property in the late 1740s. It is a major source of various species of elodea.

Bear Garden Mountain is a forested mountain ridge of the Ridge-and-Valley Appalachians in Hampshire County, West Virginia and Frederick County, Virginia.

Sunrise, also known as Muse House, is a historic home located near Gore, Frederick County, Virginia. It is a two-story, log and frame farmhouse in the Greek Revival style. The original section was built in 1818, with additions and modifications made around 1850, and around 1905. The main section measures approximately 18 feet by 39 feet and features a two-story, two-level, five bay, front porch and exterior fieldstone end chimney. Also on the property are the contributing meathouse and two barns. The house is bordered by fields, forest and apple, peach and cherry orchards.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

High View is an unincorporated community in Hampshire County, West Virginia, United States. It is located south of Capon Bridge along West Virginia Route 259 on the Virginia line. High View is home to the Bhavana Society Forest Monastery and Retreat Center. According to the 2000 census, the High View community has a population of 791.

Good is an unincorporated community in northeastern Hampshire County, West Virginia, United States atop Bear Garden Mountain. Good is located on the Bloomery Pike (West Virginia Route 127) at I.L. Pugh Road (West Virginia Secondary Route 6/2) east of Bloomery and northwest of Winchester on the West Virginia/Virginia border. Good partly lies in Frederick County, Virginia.

Caudy's Castle is a rock pinnacle of Ridgeley (Oriskany) sandstone that stands 1,070 feet (326 m) above sea level over the Cacapon River near the Bloomery Pike (West Virginia Route 127) south of Forks of Cacapon in Hampshire County, West Virginia, United States. The rock formation is named after James Caudy, an early Hampshire County pioneer and settler who fought off an attack by fifteen Native Americans from the rock during the French and Indian War. Caudy's Castle is also known as the Castle Rock. The pillar lies on the southern end of its namesake, Castle Mountain.

Jericho is an unincorporated community in Hampshire County in the U.S. state of West Virginia on the Virginia line. It is located on West Virginia Route 259 between High View and Lehew atop Timber Ridge.

Gore is an unincorporated community in western Frederick County, Virginia, United States, located off the Northwestern Turnpike on Gore Road (SR 751) west of Winchester. The community is nestled in the Back Creek valley. It has been called "Back Creek". Gore serves as the western terminus of the Winchester and Western Railroad. It is home to the Gore plant of Unimin Corporation. Gore is the birthplace of the author Willa Cather.

Whitacre is an unincorporated community in northern Frederick County, Virginia, United States. Whitacre lies on the old Braddock Road on the eastern flanks of Timber Ridge between Good and Cross Junction. Whitacre is located north of Lake Holiday. The community takes its name from the Whitacre family that owned land in its vicinity.
