Alesia is located by the old Baltimore and Hanover Railroad near the intersections of: Alesia Rd & Alesia To Lineboro Rd and Alesia Rd & Hoffmanville Rd.

Manchester lies in the humid continental climate region, marked by cold and snowy winters but humid and hot summers. This climate is ideal for growing farmed crops in the summer such as tomatoes, sweet corn and squash, leaving much of the outlying area marked with large tracts of farmland. Manchester is a rural commuting town where residents travel to work in the greater Baltimore Metropolitan Area and the greater Washington Metropolitan Area.

Jacob F. Shaffer Farm is a historic home and farm complex located at Millers, Carroll County, Maryland. The complex consists of a brick house built in 1854, a rare stone bank barn, a frame summer kitchen, and a frame corn crib. The house is a two-story, three-bay wide, banked Federal / Greek Revival style brick structure with Flemish bond on the east-facing facade.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

Lineboro Historic District is a national historic district at Lineboro, Carroll County, Maryland, United States. It comprises most of the village of Lineboro. In addition to a number of 19th and early 20th century homes, also present are agricultural outbuildings, including bank barns. Public, commercial, and industrial buildings include several stores, a one-room school and a fire hall. Other buildings of interest include the former hotel, a feed mill, and the 1908 cruciform-plan Gothic Revival Lazarus Union Church. The district comprises a total of 83 resources, of which 70, or 84%, contribute to its significance.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

The school was one of three county schools that were closed in 2016 due to declining enrollment. The school mascot was a panther, and the school colors were red, white, and black. The school was a part of the Carroll County Public Schools system. The principal was Thomas Clowes.
