Annacloy River

Annacloy (from Irish Áth na Cloiche 'ford of the stone') is a village and townland in County Down, Northern Ireland. The townland has an area of 1152.7 acres (4.67 km2). The townland is situated in the civil parish of Inch and the historic barony of Lecale Lower, located 3.5 miles north-west of Downpatrick. It lies within the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council. The town of Annacloy is located just outside the townland despite sharing a name, they are separated by the Annacloy River, the town being situated in the townland of Rossconor, the civil Parish of Kilmore and the historic barony of Kinelarty. The town is centred on the Annacloy Road at a crossroad.

Kings Bridge Halt was part of the Belfast and County Down Railway system. King's Bridge Halt opened on 1 November 1929 and closed January 1942 during the Second World War.

Annadorn Dolmen is a dolmen sited at the Buck's Head near Loughinisland, in the townland of Annadorn. Nearby you can find the old Annadorn school and post office in County Down, Northern Ireland. It is on the north-east shore of Loughinisland Lake, on a hillock overlooking Loughinisland Churches, a group of three ruined churches. The site is a State Care Historic Monument at grid ref: J4289 4591. Co-ordinates: Latitude: 54° 20' 29.97" N Longitude: 5° 48' 8.72" W

Annadorn (from Irish Áth na nDorn 'ford of the fists/pebbles') is a rural townland in County Down, Northern Ireland. It has an area of 644.94 acres (2.61 km2). It is situated in the civil parish of Loughinisland and the historic barony of Kinelarty, located 3 miles west of Downpatrick. It lies within the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.

The Loughinisland Churches are the remains of three ruined churches in Loughinisland, County Down, Northern Ireland, dating from the 13th to the 17th centuries. They are situated in Tievenadarragh townland, in a large graveyard on an island in Loughinisland Lake, now reached by a causeway. The churches are state-care historic monuments at grid ref: J4234 4537.

Inch Abbey railway station (often shortened to just Inch) is a station on the Downpatrick and County Down Railway, a heritage railway in Northern Ireland. It is the terminus of the railway's North Line and serves Inch Abbey, a ruined monastery and local tourist attraction of Downpatrick notable for its use as a filming location in the HBO show Game of Thrones. The station is a simple island platform layout with a timber deck. The north platform face is on a through track, allowing locomotives to access a headshunt and run-around loop, whilst the south face is a bay platform slightly shorter than the through platform. When the station is open passengers purchase tickets and wait for their train in a parked-up railway carriage. The station has a small car park, picnic area, and toilet facilities. Most of the DCDR's trains run to here from Downpatrick railway station, such as the Easter, St. Patrick's Day and Summer steam trains. On these days, the buffet train is parked in the bay platform and passenger trains use the through platform.

The Quoile Bridge is a railway bridge across the River Quoile in Downpatrick, County Down, Northern Ireland. It is 43 metres (141 ft) long and carries a single-track line.

Ballynahinch River is a river in County Down, Northern Ireland. It is one of the two component watercourses which form the Annacloy River, also known as the Quoile River.

Inch (Irish: Inis) is a civil parish in County Down, Northern Ireland. It is situated in the historic barony of Lecale Lower. It shares its name with Inch townland, which has an area of approximately 560 acres (0.9 sq mi). Inch Abbey is located within the civil parish and townland of Inch.

Kilmore is a village, civil parish and townland of 149 acres (60 ha) in County Down, Northern Ireland, about 1 mile (1.6 km) from Crossgar. It is situated in the historic baronies of Castlereagh Upper and Kinelarty.

Down District Council was a Local Council in County Down in Northern Ireland. It merged with Newry and Mourne District Council in April 2015 under local government reorganisation in Northern Ireland to become Newry, Mourne and Down District Council. The Council was headquartered in Downpatrick. Other towns in the Council area were Ardglass, Ballynahinch, Castlewellan, Clough, Crossgar, Dundrum, Killough, Killyleagh, Newcastle, Saintfield, Seaforde and Strangford. The Down District Council area consisted of 4 electoral areas: Ballynahinch, Downpatrick, Newcastle and Rowallane. At the last election in 2011, 23 Councillors were elected from the following political parties: 9 SDLP, 5 Sinn Féin, 3 DUP, 3 UUP, 1 Alliance Party, 1 Green Party, 1 Independent. The Council Chairman for the 2011/2012 council term was Councillor Dermot Curran (SDLP) and the Vice Chair is Councillor Liam Johnston (Sinn Féin). In elections for the Westminster Parliament, Down was split between the Strangford constituency and the South Down constituency.

Inch Abbey is a ruined Cistercian monastery on the outskirts of Downpatrick, County Down, Northern Ireland. It was founded by Anglo-Norman John de Courcy in the twelfth century at the site of a previous monastery which had operated from the 9th until earlier in the 12th century. De Courcy established the monastery as penance for his destruction of Erenagh Abbey in 1177.Its name is derived from the Irish word inis, meaning 'island', referring to the fact that the monastery was originally surrounded by the River Quoile. It is served by Inch Abbey railway station, which is operated by the Downpatrick and County Down Railway.
