B. J. Medical College (Byramjee Jeejabhoy Medical College) (BJMC) is a medical college situated in Ahmedabad, Gujarat India. Dr. Jayesh Sachdev is the current dean of B.J. Medical College. BJMC is affiliated to Gujarat University and Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. The college has a modern library with around 500-600 students capacity.

Asarwa Chakla is an area located in Ahmedabad, India. It is located south of the Civil Hospital and east of the Sabarmati river. Chakla literally means as the central meeting place in Gujarati. Asarwa Chakla is a roundabout formed by the north and south Hanuman singh road, Nilkhant Mahadev road, and an unnamed residential road. The Asarwa Chakla post office is located on the south side of the Hanuman singh road. There are many small shops and restaurants within the Asarwa Chakla. Most of them serve paan, which contains betel nut and is linked to Oral Cancer.

Air India Flight 171 was a scheduled passenger flight from Ahmedabad Airport in India to London Gatwick Airport in the United Kingdom that crashed 32 seconds after takeoff at 13:39 IST (08:09 UTC) on 12 June 2025. All 12 crew members and 229 of the 230 passengers aboard died. On the ground, 19 people were killed and 67 others were seriously injured. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner operated by Air India crashed into the hostel block of B. J. Medical College in Ahmedabad, 1.7 kilometres (1 mi; 0.9 nmi) from the runway. The aircraft was destroyed, and several college buildings were severely damaged by the impact and subsequent fire. This was the first fatal accident and hull loss involving a 787 since the type entered service in 2011. According to a preliminary report released on 8 July 2025 by India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), the aircraft's two enhanced airborne flight recorders revealed that the crash was caused by both engines losing thrust after their fuel control switches moved from RUN to CUTOFF a few seconds after liftoff. No cause for the switch movement was given. The crash remains under investigation.

The Gulbarg Society massacre took place on 28 February 2002, during the 2002 Gujarat riots, when a crowd started stone pelting the Gulbarg Society, a Muslim neighbourhood in Chamanpura, Ahmedabad. Most of the houses were burnt, and at least 35 victims, including a former Congress Member of Parliament, Ehsan Jafri, were burnt alive, while 31 others went missing after the incident, later presumed dead, bringing the total deaths to 69.The Supreme Court of India had stayed the trial in major Gujarat cases on petitions filed by the National Human Rights Commission and the Citizens for Justice and Peace, who sought a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation and transfer of the cases outside Gujarat. The SC bench on 26 March 2008, directed the Gujarat government to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by R. K. Raghavan, a former head of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case. It reopened nine crucial riot cases. Seven years after the incident, in February 2009, Erda, the Deputy Superintendent of Police with the Gujarat Police at the time was arrested on charges of dereliction of duty and for tampering with evidence, as some survivors alleged that he not only allowed the killings to happen but also helped rioters to burn the dead bodies. The SIT finally submitted its report on 14 May 2010 to the apex court registry of the Supreme Court, after which the Supreme Court asked the SIT to look into the doubts raised by amicus curiae Raju Ramchandran. SIT submitted its entire report including case papers, witnesses' testimonies and other details on 15 March 2012. On 17 June 2016, eleven people convicted of murder in the Gulbarg Society massacre were sentenced to life in jail by a special SIT court.The Society, with most of the houses damaged or burnt, was later abandoned. Of the eighteen houses which were burnt, only one has been repaired. Although none of the families returned, some of them congregate each year on the anniversary of the event and offer prayers.

Villa Sarabhai, or Villa de Madame Manorama Sarabhai, is a modernist villa located in Ahmedabad, India. Designed by the Swiss architect Le Corbusier, it was built between 1951 and 1955. It was built with an austere interior, a typical Le Corbusier design principle.
