Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center (HEMC), Guangzhou University Town or Guangzhou University City (Chinese: 广州大学城) is an area featured by higher education institutions, located on Xiaoguwei Island (Chinese: 小谷围岛) in Panyu District, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China. It was opened in 2004. With an area of approximately 17.9 km2 and 3.53 millions square meters of indoor space, the complex is capable of accommodating 350 to 400 thousand people.At the time of construction, it was known as the New University Campus of Guangzhou Region. It is a university park located in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China. It is located on Xiaoguwei Island, Panyu District, with an area of 17.9 square kilometers. Construction started in January 2003, and it was officially put into use at the end of August 2004 and welcomed the first ten universities. Since 2014, three universities have successively settled in the 25.3 square kilometer "South Bank of Guangzhou International Innovation City" (that is, the "University City Phase II" in the initial planning period) located in the south bank area of Xiaoguwai Island.

Luoxi Island (Chinese: 洛溪岛) is an island in Luopu Subdistrict (洛浦街道), Panyu District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, China. It is located in the northeast of Nanpu Island to the south of Haizhu Island and to the west of Xiaoguwei Island. It is about 9.85 square kilometres (3.80 sq mi) in area and connects to the Guangzhou urban area via the Luoxi Bridge (洛溪大桥), Xinguang Bridge (新光大桥) and Panyu Bridge (番禺大桥).Luoxi Bridge was the first toll road built in China, when Hong Kong tycoon Henry Fok invested into this bridge in his native Guangdong Province.

The Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center Central Stadium (Chinese: 广州大学城体育中心; pinyin: Guǎngzhōu dàxuéchéng tǐyù zhōngxīn) is a stadium situated in the Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center, Guangzhou, Guangdong province, China. It is used mainly for association football, athletics, rugby union, and rugby sevens. It held rugby and football events at the 2010 Asian Games. Starting from 2013, it also held the China Women's Sevens as part of the IRB Women's Sevens World Series. The stadium has a capacity of 39,346, making it the third largest stadium in Guangzhou, after Guangdong Olympic Stadium and Tianhe Stadium. The Guangzhou Rams rugby team sometimes uses the venue for their big games.

Higher Education Mega Center North Station (simplified Chinese: 大学城北站; traditional Chinese: 大學城北站; Cantonese Yale: Daaihhohksìhng Bāk Jaahm) is a station of Line 4 of the Guangzhou Metro. It started operations on 26 December 2005. It is located at the underground of the north of Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center, located on the Xiaoguwei Island in Xiaoguwei Subdistrict, Panyu District.The station was previously called Beiting Station (北亭站; Bāktìhng Jaahm) because of nearby Beiting Village (北亭村) on the island, before changing its name to its current name in May 2006.

The Xinghai Conservatory of Music, also known as the Xinghai Conservatory, is a music conservatory in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, China. It has two campuses: one in the Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center in Panyu District, another at No. 48, Xianlie Donglu (Xianlie Rd. E. 23.14978°N 113.30412°E / 23.14978; 113.30412), Tianhe District. The conservatory was established in 1932 by the composer Ma Sicong as the Guangzhou Conservatory of Music. Both the Xinghai Conservatory of Music and the Xinghai Concert Hall are named after the noted composer Xian Xinghai (Chinese: 冼星海), who died on October 30, 1945, at the age of 40.

Guanzhou Station (Chinese: 官洲站; Cantonese Yale: Gūnjāu Jaahm) is a station of Line 4 of the Guangzhou Metro. It started operations on 26 December 2005. It is located at the underground of the central part of Guanzhou Island in Haizhu District. It was constructed to cope with the Guangzhou International Biological Island, a science and technology development zone led by biological industry that opened in 2011.Before the station opened, no land transport was provided between Guanzhou Island and Guangzhou urban. Only ships were available to provide the transport service for the island.

The National Supercomputer Center in Guangzhou houses Tianhe-2, which is currently the seventh fastest supercomputer in the world, with a measured 33.86 petaflop/s (quadrillions of calculations per second). Tianhe-2 is operated by the National University of Defence Technology, and owned by the Chinese government.

Shenjing Station (Chinese: 深井站; pinyin: Shēnjǐng Zhàn; Jyutping: sam1zeng2 zaam6) is a station of Guangzhou Metro Line 7, located underground at Jinzhou South Road within Shenjing Village on Changzhou Island in Guangzhou's Huangpu District. The station opened on 28 December 2023, with the opening of Phase 2 of Line 7.It is the station on the Phase 2 extension that takes up the most land area.

Guangzhou University (GU; Chinese: 广州大学) is a public university in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, China. The university is made up of two campuses. The major campus is located in Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center (HEMC, geographically called Xiaoguwei Island), covering a total area of 131.7 hectares, with a building space of 596,000 square meters. The other campus is located in downtown (GuiHuaGang) of Guangzhou, covering 20 hectares.The university is dually affiliated to Guangzhou Municipal Government and Guangdong Provincial Government. The funding for the university is subject to Guangzhou Municipal Government.
