Torpedo Factory Art Center

U.S. Naval Torpedo Station, Alexandria was a facility of the United States Navy, located in Alexandria, Virginia, that existed from 1918 to 1945. After its closure, it was redeveloped into the Torpedo Factory Art Center.

The Alexandria Archaeology Museum is an institution dedicated to the preservation and study of the archaeological heritage of Alexandria, Virginia.According to the National Park Service, the museum exhibits feature's 10,000 years of the human history of Alexandria.In addition to artifacts, the museum also jointly holds a collection of 160 oral histories in conjunction with two other institutions, the Black History Mureum and the Lyceum.

The Athenaeum is a gallery of fine arts and a performance venue in Alexandria, Virginia, United States. It is also home to the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Association since 1964. The building is an important example of Greek Revival architecture. The Athenaeum has a long history and has served several purposes during its lifetime. The building is now part of the Virginia Trust and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Mansion House Hospital was a Union hospital during the American Civil War, formed after Union occupation of Alexandria, Virginia and the seizure of the Mansion House Hotel.

Carlyle House is a historic mansion in Alexandria, Virginia, United States, built by Scottish merchant John Carlyle in 1751 to 1752 in the Georgian style. It is situated in the city's Old Town at 121 North Fairfax Street between Cameron and King Streets. The house, which is architecturally unique as the only stone 18th-century Palladian Revival style residence in Alexandria, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1969, and was restored in 1976.

The Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Shop/Museum is a historic apothecary's shop in Alexandria, Virginia, that has been preserved as a museum. During its working life, it was owned by generations of a Quaker family. Eventually, a dramatic decline in sales during the Great Depression forced the shop to close its doors. Almost immediately, in 1939, it was reopened as a museum. Today, most of the artifacts inside the shop are authentic and date to its closing. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, and designated a National Historic Landmark in 2021.

The Bank of Alexandria is a historic bank building located at Alexandria, Virginia, United States. It was built in 1807, and consists of a three-story main block, with a two-story east wing. The main block is five bays wide and 7 bays deep. In 1848, James Green purchased the building and turned it into a hotel, then in 1855, he expanded it across the lawn of the Carlyle House next door, tripling the size of the Mansion House Hotel. The hotel was used as a hospital during the Civil War. In the late 1960's, the expansion, by then an aging apartment building, was torn down by the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority to reveal Carlyle House, which was restored in 1976. The remaining part of the bank building was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1973. It is located in the Alexandria Historic District.

Robinson Terminal Warehouse LLC is a warehouse and logistics company based in Springfield, Virginia. Founded in 1939 by Clarence J. Robinson, the company primarily handled newsprint for The Washington Post, its owner until 2013. Robinson operated two deep-water berths alongside the Potomac River, one at the terminus of Oronoco Street, the other at the terminus of Duke Street. A railroad spur served the Oronoco facility. Vessels heading to or from the berths passed under the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, sometimes requiring the bridge's drawspan to open. In September 2013, the Washington Post Company sold the two waterfront facilities to real estate developers Nash Holdings.The company also operates two warehouse facilities in Springfield, Virginia. One of the Springfield warehouses is located along the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway, and is frequently used as a landmark in local traffic reports. The Springfield facility is serviced by Norfolk Southern Railroad. Another warehouse facility was located at The Washington Post's printing plant in College Park, Maryland. The College Park plant was sold to the University of Maryland in 2010.

The Fairfax–Moore House is a historical house located at 207 Prince Street in Alexandria, Virginia, United States. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 17, 1991. The home is noted to its 18th-century Georgian architectural style. To the home's east is the Athenaeum, which is separated from the house by a geometric boxwood garden.

The Alexandria City Hall also known as the Alexandria Market House & City Hall, in Alexandria, Virginia, is a building built in 1871 and designed by Adolph Cluss. It was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The site was originally a market from 1749 and courthouse from 1752. A new building was constructed in 1817 but after an extensive fire in 1871 it was rebuilt as a replica of the former building.

Gadsby's Tavern is a complex of historic buildings at 134 and 138 North Royal Street at the corner of Cameron Street in the Old Town district of Alexandria, Virginia. The complex includes a c.1785 tavern, the 1792 City Tavern and Hotel, and an 1878 hotel addition. The taverns were a central part of the social, economic, political, and educational life of the city of Alexandria at the time. Currently, the complex is home to Gadsby's Tavern Restaurant, American Legion Post 24, and Gadsby's Tavern Museum, a cultural history museum. The museum houses exhibits of early American life in Virginia, and the restaurant operates in the original 1792 City Tavern dining room, serving a mixture of period and modern foods. The complex was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1963 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1966.

The Marshall House was an inn that stood at 480 King Street (near the southeast corner of King Street and South Pitt Street) in Alexandria, Virginia. At the beginning of the American Civil War in 1861, the house was the site of the killing of Col. Elmer E. Ellsworth during the Union Army's takeover of Alexandria. Ellsworth was a popular and highly prominent officer and a close friend of President Abraham Lincoln. Ellsworth was the first conspicuous Union Army casualty and the first officer killed in battle during the war. He was shot by the inn's proprietor James W. Jackson after removing a Confederate flag from the roof of the inn. Jackson was immediately killed after he killed Ellsworth. Ellsworth's death became a cause célèbre for the Union, while Jackson's death became the same for the Confederacy.
