John E. Dwyer Technology Academy

St. John's Parsonage is a historic house at 633 Pearl Street in Elizabeth, Union County, New Jersey, United States. It served as the parsonage and school for St. John's Church from 1749 to about 1885, after which it was used by the parish for "charitable purposes" until 1902. It was thereafter sold and used as a boarding house until purchased by the Elizabethtown Historical Society in 1960 and renovated.A stone plaque on the facade between the first and second stories states it was built 1696 and rebuilt 1817. The red brick Federal style structure dates to at least 1749, and was restored in 1960 to its 1818 appearance. One wing is believed to be date to a 1696 structure. The floor plan and silhouette are typical of New Jersey homes of the late 18th and early 19th centuries.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Cicarell Academy), is a four-year public high school located in Elizabeth, in Union County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, serving students in ninth through twelfth grades as part of the Elizabeth Public Schools. In 2009, the school and its more than 5,000 students was split into six separate houses, each operating as an independent school with its own principal and subject of focus, including one which has retained the Elizabeth High School name. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1978.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,287 students and 76.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 16.9:1. There were 588 students (45.7% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 173 (13.4% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.Starting in the 2016–17 school year, both upper and lower academies of Elizabeth High School merged into the newly built Frank J. Cicarell Academy, which is located next to the Thomas Jefferson Arts Academy.

Thomas Jefferson Arts Academy is a public high school in Elizabeth, New Jersey in Union County in the United States, specializing in the visual, performing, and media arts. Located in historic Midtown, the school serves students in ninth through twelfth grades as part of the Elizabeth Public Schools. Located across the street from Elizabeth's City Hall and the monuments of Winfield Scott Park, and Martin Luther King Jr monument, Thomas Jefferson Arts Academy is the oldest building of all the Elizabeth Public Schools high school academies. Jefferson Arts was first built in 1928 as an all-boys high school and named for the primary author of the Declaration of Independence and third president of the United States. In 1977, the former Thomas Jefferson High School (for boys) merged with the newly constructed Elizabeth High School main complex; the school was renamed Thomas Jefferson House of Elizabeth High School. The school is now a high school academy and the center for the district's visual and performing arts programs. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 2013.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,062 students and 87.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.2:1. Elizabeth Public Schools is a public school district in Elizabeth, in Union County, New Jersey, United States, serving students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. The district is one of 31 former Abbott districts statewide that were established pursuant to the decision by the New Jersey Supreme Court in Abbott v. Burke which are now referred to as "SDA Districts" based on the requirement for the state to cover all costs for school building and renovation projects in these districts under the supervision of the New Jersey Schools Development Authority. The district was the third largest in New Jersey in 2022, with a culturally diverse student body coming from 50 countries and speaking more than 37 languages.As of the 2018–19 school year, the district, comprising 36 schools, had an enrollment of 28,712 students and 2,173.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.2:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "A", the lowest of eight groupings. Elizabeth is a city and the county seat of Union County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the city retained its ranking as the state's fourth-most-populous city (behind neighboring Newark, Jersey City, and Paterson), with a population of 137,298, an increase of 12,329 (+9.9%) from the 2010 census count of 124,969, which in turn reflected an increase of 4,401 (3.7%) from the 120,568 counted in the 2000 census. The Census Bureau's Population Estimates Program calculated that the city's population was 134,283 in 2022, ranking the city the 210th-most populous in the country, making it the fifth-most populous municipality of any type in the state, falling behind Lakewood Township, where the population was estimated to be 139,506, as of that year.

Boxwood Hall State Historic Site, located at 1073 East Jersey Street in Elizabeth, New Jersey, is a historic house museum operated by the state of New Jersey. Boxwood Hall was built about 1750, and is a National Historic Landmark for its association with Founding Father Elias Boudinot (1740-1821), who lived here from 1772 to 1795. Boudinot, a lawyer, politician, and diplomat, was president of the Continental Congress 1782–83. In 1772, Alexander Hamilton, another Founding Father, stayed briefly with the Boudinots while attending Elizabethtown Academy. In 1795, Boudinot sold the mansion to Jonathan Dayton, also a Founding Father and then speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. Dayton lived at Boxwood Hall with his wife until dying in 1824.

American Airlines Flight 6780, the first fatal crash of a Convair 240, occurred on January 22, 1952.The twin-propeller aircraft was on the routing Buffalo-Rochester-Syracuse-Newark. On final approach to runway 6 at Newark Airport using the instrument landing system, it crashed at 3:45 p.m. into a house at the intersection of Williamson and South Streets, in the city of Elizabeth, New Jersey, approximately 3.4 miles (5.5 km) southeast of Newark. The cause of the crash was never determined. The plane, which had gone 2,100 feet (640 m) off course to the right, narrowly missed hitting the Battin High School for girls, which had dismissed for the day only 45 minutes before.

The Belcher–Ogden Mansion; Benjamin Price House; and Price–Brittan House Historic District is a 0.8-acre (3,200 m2) historic district in Elizabeth, Union County, New Jersey, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. It is located near Boxwood Hall and is in the heart of colonial Elizabethtown, the first English-speaking settlement in what became the Province of New Jersey.

Siloam Hope First Presbyterian Church of Elizabeth (Old First of Elizabeth and formerly known as the First Presbyterian Church of Elizabeth) is a historic church at 14–44 Broad Street in Elizabeth, Union County, New Jersey, United States.It was built in 1783 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977 for its significance in architecture.The churchyard dates from 1687 and has over two thousand graves, many from the American Revolutionary War, including the Reverend James Caldwell.In 2013, a Bible dating from 1699 belonging to founder John Ogden (colonist) was returned to the congregation.In 2019, the First Presbyterian Church merged with the Siloam Hope Presbyterian Church, becoming the Siloam Hope First Presbyterian Church. The newly merged congregation would remain at its original Broad Street location.

Battin High School was a public high school in Elizabeth, in Union County, New Jersey, United States, which operated as part of the Elizabeth Public Schools. The school opened in 1889 as a coeducational institution. After converting to a girls-only school in 1929, it operated on a single-sex basis for 48 years until the end of the 1976–77 school year, ending its status as one half of the state's only pair of public high schools operated separately for male and female students.
