St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church (Baltimore, Maryland)

Johnston Square is a neighborhood in central Baltimore, Maryland located east of the Fallsway and west of the Oliver neighborhood, bordered by Greenmount Cemetery at the north and Eager Street at the south. The neighborhood is erroneously listed by a number of real estate websites as "Johnson Square." The sites also erroneously list the Western border of the neighborhood as Hunter Street. The area bordered by Hunter Street to the West and I-83 to the East is actually more closely associated with the Mt. Vernon and Belvedere neighborhoods, two areas with some of the city's highest incomes and lowest crime rates. The neighborhood contains Johnston Square Elementary School and two parks, Johnston Square Park and Ambrose Kennedy Park. It is one of five neighborhoods whose Urban Renewal Plans are included in the East Baltimore Revitalization Plan. The neighborhood contains portions of the Baltimore City Correctional Facilities and its residents are mostly low income African-American families. It has been used as a filming location on the HBO drama The Wire.

St. James the Less Roman Catholic Church, also known as St. James and St. John's Roman Catholic Church, is a historic Roman Catholic church located at Baltimore, Maryland, United States and was one of the earliest neighborhood parishes established in the central city (1833). The building later became Urban Bible Fellowship Church. On March 29, 2020 lightning struck the steeple, causing the building to catch fire and partially collapse.

Eager Street Academy (previously Baltimore City Detention Center, School No. 370) is a public, alternative middle-high school serving youth who are incarcerated, located in the Penn-Fallsway neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland, United States. The school was launched in 1998 as a collaboration between Baltimore City Public Schools (BCPSS), Maryland State Department of Education and the state's Division of Pretrial Detention and Services, and is a part of the larger city school system. Initially without an official name beyond its numeric designation, the school was given the name "Eager Street Academy" in 2002.Based inside the Baltimore City Detention Center, an adult detention facility, Eager Street serves students under 18 who have been charged as adults. BCPSS officials have claimed the school is the only public school in the United States located inside of a jail. Classes at the school were initially held in six portable trailers on the grounds of the BCDC, but its classrooms are now located within a purpose-built juvenile detention facility built in 2017.

The Institute of Notre Dame was a private Catholic all-girls high school located in Baltimore, Maryland. After 173 years, the school closed on June 30, 2020.

Baltimore City Detention Center (BCDC, formerly known as the Baltimore City Jail) is a Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services state prison for men and women. It is located on 401 East Eager Street in downtown Baltimore, Maryland. It has been a state facility since July 1991.In July 2015, Maryland governor Larry Hogan announced the men's facility would be permanently closed, and the 750 inmates redistributed among other more modern facilities. The exact date of the closure was not made known. It was demolished in 2021.

Saint Frances Academy is an independent Catholic high school in Baltimore, Maryland. Founded in 1828, it is the first and oldest continually operating Black Catholic school in the United States.

Old East Baltimore Historic District is a national historic district in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It is a mainly residential area of Baltimore City that grew up northward from the original mid-18th century settlement east of the Jones Falls, known as Jones Town, or Old Town. It comprises some 70 city blocks covering approximately 194 acres (0.79 km2). The southern part is characterized by vernacular Greek Revival-style working-class housing, constructed in the mid-1840s to mid-1850s for the large numbers of Irish and German immigrants settling there. By the late 1880s and early 1890s all of the blocks in the historic district had been filled with substantial rowhouses showing the influence of Queen Anne and Renaissance Revival styles. The churches in the district include good examples of Italianate, Gothic, Richardsonian Romanesque, Northern European Romanesque, and French Romanesque. Two ethnic Catholic churches, St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church and St. James the Less Roman Catholic Church, are listed separately on the National Register of Historic Places.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

The Maryland Metropolitan Transition Center (MTC), formerly known as the historic "Maryland Penitentiary", is a maximum pre-trial security Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services prison located in Baltimore facing Greenmount Avenue between Forrest Street and East Madison Street. It was established in 1811 as the first prison in the state and the second of its kind in the country and the original buildings faced towards East Madison Street above the east bank of the Jones Falls stream and adjacent to the old stone walls of the Baltimore City Jail (now renamed the Baltimore City Detention Center), earlier established in 1801, rebuilt in 1857–1859, and later in 1959–1965.Now known as the MTC, the prison still houses Maryland's now decommissioned death chamber. The Maryland Correctional Adjustment Center, across the road, housed male "death row" inmates until June 2010, when they were moved to the North Branch Correctional Institution near Cumberland, Maryland in the western portion of the state in Allegany County, Maryland.

Industrial Building is a historic factory building located at Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It is a large seven story industrial-style structure built in 1912 and designed by Baltimore architect Theodore Wells Pietsch. It features an "E" plan, reinforced concrete and steel-frame construction, and large pivoted-sash windows. The front façade is characterized by a symmetrical window arrangement and a large 2-story, round-arched entranceway. It was scheduled for conversion to housing for the elderly during the 1980s.Industrial Building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The Old Town Mall or Oldtown Mall is a mostly abandoned outdoor pedestrian shopping mall in the Old Town neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland. The mall contains 64 stores, the majority of which are closed. The area has seen many periods of revival and decline in the past 200 years since its opening, and there are currently plans by developers in the area to revitalize the mall.

The Chesapeake Detention Facility (CDF), previously the Maryland Correctional Adjustment Center (MCAC), is a maximum level II (supermax or control unit) prison operated by the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services in Baltimore.Since April 4, 2012, the state manages the facility under contract with the United States Marshals Service and does not hold state prisoners at CDF. It was built in 1988, and is located at 401 East Madison Street in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. Prior to February, 2011, inmates housed at MCAC were confined to their cells 23 hours a day Monday through Friday and 24 hours a day on Saturday and Sunday. The State of Maryland now has a contract with the federal government to solely house federal pre-trial detainees. These federal detainees are not subjected to the supermax conditions that the prior state inmates were subjected to. Federal detainees recreate together both inside and outside every day of the week, eat together, and have access to phones. Until June 2010, CDF also housed Maryland's death row inmates. Male death row inmates were housed at the North Branch Correctional Institution in Allegany County, Maryland from 2010 until death row was closed in 2014. Executions took place across the street from the MCAC at the former Maryland Penitentiary (now known as the Metropolitan Transition Center).As with most prisons in Maryland, CDF is headed by a Warden, Assistant Warden, and a Chief of Security. Rules and regulations of the Division of Correction and CDF are enforced by uniformed correctional officers. Uniformed correctional officers consist of, in descending order of rank; Majors, Captains, Lieutenants, Sergeants, Correctional Officer II's, and Correctional Officer I's.

Null House is a historic home located at Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It is a 2+1⁄2-story, three-bay wide dwelling of wood-frame construction that was built between 1782 and 1784. It is a rare specimen of the early wooden clapboard building. The façade features a one-story wooden Italianate storefront of later construction with large store windows and two entrances. Originally located at 1010 Hillen Street, to save the building from demolition, it was moved on September 28, 1980, to the present site, 300 feet northeast of its original location on the opposite side of Hillen Street.Null House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 27, 1983.
