Baliwag

The Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Saint Augustine, commonly known as Baliwag Church, is a Roman Catholic church located in Plaza Naning at the poblacion (town center) of Baliwag, in Bulacan province, Philippines. The church is a parish church of the Diocese of Malolos, which is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Manila. The parish was established by the Augustinians in 1733 under the patronage of Augustine of Hippo. The town's feast or commonly known as Pistang Bayan is celebrated every second Sunday of May while the Patron's Feast (Pistang Patron) is celebrated every August 28. During the church's Great Jubilee celebration in the year 2000, the Diocese of Malolos designated the Baliwag Church as one of the 11 pilgrimage churches in the province of Bulacan. in 2015, the Diocese of Malolos designated again the Baliwag Church as one of the Jubilee of Mercy churches in the province of Bulacan for the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy by Pope Francis which ends on November 20, 2016. In 2021, this church was also designated by the Bishop of Malolos to be one of the Jubilee Churches for the celebration of the 500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines. The Good Friday procession of the church is one of the largest in the country with more than 100 religious floats of sceneries showing the stories from the book of the evangelists from the new Testament and Lenten scenes paraded.

St. Mary's College of Baliuag (St. Mary's College, St. Mary's, SMA, SMCB) is a private, Catholic Co-educational basic and higher education institution administered by the Religious of the Virgin Mary in Baliwag, Philippines. It was formerly named Colegio de la Sagrada Familia or Holy Family School, when founded in 1912. On June 30, 1959, the Holy Family School was renamed St. Mary's Academy (SMA). It provides Preparatory, Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary education. It is the only Catholic school in the City of Baliuag, Bulacan.

Baliuag University (B.U. or Baliuag U) is a private university in the Philippines. It was founded in 1925 and was the first school granted full autonomy in Central Luzon by the Commission on Higher Education. It was founded in 1925 by Domingo “Tatang” Santiago. Sr, as the Baliuag Institute. It offers graduate programs in education, business, library science, and nursing. Its undergraduate programs in business administration and accountancy, liberal arts and education are Level 3 accredited. Other offerings are engineering, nursing, library science, computer studies, and hospitality management. It offers two-year Voc-Tech, Associate in Health Science as well as kindergarten, grade school and high school programs, LET review classes, call center training, and college evening programs. It is one of four Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) training schools in the Philippines; the others are the University of the Philippines Diliman, University of Santo Tomas, and St. Paul University Iloilo.

Santo Cristo Sub-Parish Church, locally known as the Bisita ng Mahal na Señor Santo Cristo de Baliuag and Apo Kristo Chapel, is the oldest "ermita" (chapel) in Baliuag, Bulacan, Philippines. The visita is under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Malolos and is bounded by the cities of San Fernando and Mabalacat in Pampanga, and Balanga in Bataan. At present, its mother Parish, the Saint Augustine Parish Church of Baliuag, Bulacan (under its first parish priest Juan de Albarrran), has 4 parishes. The St. Augustine Church of Baliuag and the Sub-Parish Church of Santo Cristo both belong to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Malolos (which was created on November 25, 1961, and erected on March 11, 1962, and comprises the civil province of Bulacan and the City of Valenzuela, under the Patronage of the Immaculate Conception, Feast day of December 8). The Bisita ng Santo Kristo is under Saint Augustine Parish Church jurisdiction.

SM City Baliwag is a shopping mall in the Philippines owned, developed and operated by SM Prime Holdings. It is the second SM Supermalls in Bulacan province after SM City Marilao, the third and last SM Mall among the company's expansion in 2008 and the 33rd SM Mall in the list. The mall is located at Doña Remedios Trinidad Highway in Barangay Pagala, Baliwag. It opened on December 12, 2008. The mail's design and construction team includes DSGN Associates, mall designers; Jose Siao Ling and Associates, architect of record; New Golden City Builders, general contractors; and DA Abcede and Associates, project manager.

Bustos, officially the Municipality of Bustos (Tagalog: Bayan ng Bustos), is a municipality in the province of Bulacan, Philippines. According to the 2024 census, it has a population of 80,565 people. The town got its name from Jose Pedro Perez de Bustos, a mining engineer from Villaviciosa, Asturias, Spain who served as the right-hand of Simón de Anda y Salazar and was appointed teniente general alcalde (Provincial Governor) of Bulacan.

This landmark is owned and administered by the City of Baliwag. The heritage-historic Filipino-colonial mansion Bahay na Bato the official repository (established in 1998 as a natural history and ethnography museum) of Baliwag and Bulacan province. Baliwag Museo is located in Town Proper, Old Municipal Bldg., Cagayan Valley Road, Poblacion, Baliwag, Bulacan. It is 150 meters from the heritage St. Augustine Parish Church of Baliuag. The century-old Museo ng Baliwag is administered by Jesusa Garcia Villanueva who serves as the curator for the museum and officer-in-charge for the library since July 2017, succeeding librarian Resurrection U. Gaspar.

Our Lady of Most Holy Rosary Parish Church, commonly known as Makinabang Church or Bisitang Pula, is a Roman Catholic Marian church in Barangay Makinabang, Baliuag, Bulacan, Philippines. On October 7 it is one of four Roman Catholic parish churches in the municipality and is the focus of one of its largest processions each year. The other nearby Baliuag parishes which bound the church are: Saint Augustine Church (Población); Holy Family Parish (Tangos); and Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Sabang). The church is also about 2 miles from its neighbor, Sub-Parish Church of Sto. Cristo in barangay Santo Cristo. Makinabang Church is under the Vicariate of Saint Augustine of Hippo and belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Malolos, a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Manila. Its incumbent team of priests in solidum moderator is parish priest Nicanor J. Castro, V.F., who was formally installed as the 6th Parish Priest on February 12, 2021. He succeeded the (Judicial Vicar), Winniefred F. Naboya, who was formally installed in November 2013. Naboya replaced the former Parish Administrator, Macario R. Manahan, who succeeded Walderedo Castillo who died in 2008. The Parish Church's Vicar Forane is its current Parish Priest, Nicanor J. Castro, V.F..

Bustos Dam, also known as Angat Afterbay Regulator Dam, is a small irrigation dam at Bustos, Bulacan is often mistaken by the locals as Angat Dam since it is located close to the nearby town of Angat. The project is located at Barangay Tibagan, Bustos, Bulacan, served by the Angat River. The main dam is about 18 meters above sea level. Among the 2.5-meter high, six-span dam's main features are easily deflatable and inflatable rubber body, resistance to sedimentation, economical and having auto-deflation system.

San Juan de Dios Parish Church, commonly known as San Rafael Church, is an 18th-century Roman Catholic church situated in Brgy. Poblacion, in San Rafael, Bulacan, Philippines. It is under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Malolos. Its titular patron is St. John of God; Saint Raphael, archangel, is the secondary patron saint. The church was the site of the Battle of San Rafael, wherein hundreds of retreating Filipino soldiers and civilians lost their lives during a battle with the Spanish on November 30, 1896. A historical marker by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines was installed in front of the church in 1997 to commemorate the massacre of an estimated 800 Filipinos.

San Rafael, officially the Municipality of San Rafael (Tagalog: Bayan ng San Rafael, Kapampangan: Balen ning San Rafael), is a municipality in the province of Bulacan, Philippines. According to the 2024 census, it has a population of 108,256 people.
