Waimata is a rural community in the Hauraki District and Waikato region of New Zealand's North Island.The population of Waimata and its surrounds was 138 people in 54 households in the 2013 New Zealand census.

Waiau is a rural locality in the Western Bay of Plenty District of New Zealand. It is on the northern side of Tauranga Harbour, and is east and north from Waihi Beach and east of Athenree. Waiau River and State Highway 2 run through it.William Wright Falls is a 28m waterfall on Orokawa Stream, in the northern part of the area, accessible by a walking track from Waihi Beach. The track passes through Orokawa Bay.

Waihi Beach is a coastal town at the western end of the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand's North Island. It lies 10 kilometres to the east of the town of Waihi, at the foot of the Coromandel Peninsula. The main beach is 10 kilometres long. The town had a permanent population of 2,780 as of June 2023. At the northern end of Waihi Beach, the 145 hectares (360 acres) Orokawa Scenic Reserve offers several short walking tracks along the coast and to Orokawa Bay. While the main beach is backed by the residential area of the township of Waihi Beach, Orokawa Bay is undeveloped and surrounded by native bush including pohutukawa, puriri, and nikau palms. At the southern end of the beach is the small settlement of Bowentown and the northern side of the northern Katikati entrance to Tauranga Harbour.

Whiritoa is a small beach town on the Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand between Whangamatā and Waihi Beach. It has a permanent population in the low hundreds, which swells to over a thousand during the New Year holiday period. It has a convenience store, a library and a volunteer fire department. The local Surf lifesaving club has a close relationship with the community of regularly holidaying families. At the north end of the 1.5 km beach is a small lagoon and past this is a short walk to Waimama bay. The lagoon has a cycle of being blocked by sand then being dug out by the council digger or enthusiastic members of the public. At the south end a short bush walk crosses through privately owned land to a blowhole. The beach itself is popular for surfers as it often features a roaming sandbar or two. The shore is often quite steep meaning the waves are sometimes breaking directly on the sand making it difficult for casual swimmers.

Athenree is a rural settlement coastal town in the Western Bay of Plenty District of New Zealand. It is on the northern side of Tauranga Harbour, and separated from Waihi Beach by the Waiau River on its north and east side.The area includes a holiday park with hot springs and Athenree Wetland, which includes a walking track.The settlement was named for Athenry in Country Galway, Ireland by settlers arriving in 1878, including Captain Hugh Stewart (a brother of George Vesey Stewart) and his wife, Adela Blanche Stewart, who wrote a book about her experiences called My Simple Life in New Zealand. The settlement was initially successful due to the 1878 opening of the Martha gold mine in Waihi, and later because of dairy farming.

Tanners Point is a rural settlement in the Western Bay of Plenty District and Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand's North Island. It is on a headland on the eastern side of Tauranga Harbour, opposite Katikati Entrance.A reserve and walkway preserve the coastal areas of the settlement.The area, initially a Native reserve, was first called Frazer's Point and later Tanner's Point for local farmer Thomas Tanner who arrived in New Zealand in 1875. Both names were in use in the early 20th century.

The Wentworth River is a river of the Coromandel Peninsula, in the Waikato Region of New Zealand's North Island. It flows northeast from the Coromandel Range to reach the Bay of Plenty at Whangamatā.

Tahawai is a rural community in the Western Bay of Plenty District and Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand's North Island. State Highway 2 runs through it. A peninsula on the eastern side of the area in Tauranga Harbour ends with the small settlements of Tuapiro Point, Ongare Point and Kauri Point, with a walkway between the latter two. A smaller peninsula further north ends at Tanners Point.

The Otahu River is a river of the Coromandel Peninsula, in the Waikato Region of New Zealand's North Island. It flows generally northeast from several streams with watersheds in the Coromandel Range, most notably the Wharekirauponga Stream. The Otahu reaches the sea immediately to the south of the town of Whangamatā.The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "place of Tahu [a personal name]" for Ōtahu.

Ongare Point is a rural settlement in the Western Bay of Plenty District and Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand's North Island. It is on a headland on the eastern side of Tauranga Harbour, southeast of Katikati Entrance and opposite Matakana Island.A coastal walkway through a reserve connects Ongare Point to Kauri Point. There is a small sandy beach.Ngāi Te Rangi's Ōngare Pā was attacked in 1842 by a war party of 50 men led by Tāraia Ngākuti Te Tumuhuia. The local chief Te Whanake and several followers were killed.

Katikati is a town in New Zealand (North Island) located on the Uretara Stream near a tidal inlet towards the northern end of Tauranga Harbour, 28 kilometres south of Waihi and 40 kilometres northwest of Tauranga. State Highway 2 passes through the town; a bypass scheduled to have begun construction in 2008 is on hold.Katikati has become known for its many murals painted on walls of commercial buildings. These were started in the 1990s to regenerate tourist interest in the town and district, and led to the town being recognised New Zealand's 'Most Beautiful Small Town' award for towns of less than 8,000 population in 2005 by the Keep New Zealand Beautiful Society.In 2018, Katikati was named "Avocado Capital of New Zealand [1]. Besides its avocado orchards, there are many kiwi-fruit orchards in and around Katikati. There are hot springs three kilometres to the south of Katikati at Sapphire Springs.

Kauri Point is a rural settlement in the Western Bay of Plenty District and Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand's North Island. It is on a headland on the eastern side of Tauranga Harbour, opposite Matakana Island.A coastal walkway through Kauri Point Historic Reserve connects Kauri Point to Ongare Point. There are mature pōhutakawa trees and three pā sites in the reserve. A 200 metre long wooden jetty, built after 1947, provides fishing access to the harbour.Dorothy Morris was a pioneer of the kiwifruit industry in New Zealand who she converted her dairy farm on Kauri Point Road to kiwifruit in the 1950s.George Vesey Stewart, who organised settlement of Katikati in the 1870s, initially planned for the town to be established at Kauri Point. The settlement at Kauri Point did not eventuate until the 1970s.
