The Prudential Lions are sculptures in Newark, New Jersey designed by Karl Bitter. The two carved limestone companion pieces depict seated male lions, each with its front paw placed on a sphere. They are approximately 7 feet (2.1 m) tall and weigh 2,900 pounds (1,300 kg) each. They been placed in three different locations. The works were originally created 1901 and stood above the front entrance of the Prudential Headquarters in Newark, New Jersey until the Prudential Home Office was demolished in 1956 and they were removed. They were given to Essex County Parks Commission by the Prudential Insurance Company of America and installed in Branch Brook Park in 1959.In 2011, the Branch Brook Park Alliance commissioned the restoration the original statues and the creation of precast concrete replicas. The original sculptures were placed at the Essex County Hall of Records, adjacent to the Essex County Courthouse, while the replicas were placed in the park where the originals had been located.

Newark Tech High School is a regional public high school located in Newark, that offers occupational and academic instruction for students in Essex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, serving students in ninth through twelfth grades as part of the Essex County Vocational Technical Schools. As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 570 students and 54.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.6:1. There were 395 students (69.3% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 56 (9.8% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.Students are required to abide by the school's uniform / dress code policy.

West Caldwell Tech is a regional public high school located in West Caldwell, that offers occupational and academic instruction for students in ninth through twelfth grades in Essex County, New Jersey, United States, operating as part of the Essex County Vocational Technical Schools. As of the 2020–21 school year, the school had an enrollment of 336 students and 35.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 9.6:1. There were 198 students (58.9% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 25 (7.4% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

There are two statues of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in Newark, New Jersey. Both are located on the Essex County Courthouse Complex at its newest addition, the Martin Luther King Justice Building.

The Essex County Government Complex is located in Newark, the country seat of Essex County, New Jersey, U.S. at west of end of Market Street in Downtown. It is home to the Essex County Executive, the Board of County Commissioners, and the constitutional officers of the county: the County Clerk, the County Surrogate, and the County Sheriff as well as the County Register. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office and the 5th Vininage of New Jersey Superior Court is based at the government complex, across from which is the campus of Essex County College. The complex comprises various buildings built since 1904, when the historic courthouse was constructed, and is adorned with public art, including statues and busts of prominent civic leaders. Numerous state and county offices are located at the complex, which also has extensive parking facilities.

The Essex County Veterans Courthouse is located in Newark, New Jersey. It was built in 1904 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 26, 1975. The building, designed by Cass Gilbert, has a four-story rotunda topped with a Tiffany skylight. It features artwork from some of the most well known artists of the American Renaissance period including Seated Lincoln by Gutzon Borglum. The annex was completed the 1960s. Jack Murphy of Fava Associates was the lead architect on the annex project. The courthouse complex was further expanded in 2021 to include the Martin Luther King, Jr. Judicial Building.

Newark Abbey, also known as The Benedictine Abbey of Newark, is a Benedictine monastery located in Newark, New Jersey. It is one of only several urban Catholic monasteries in the country. The monks serve the community through Saint Benedict's Preparatory School and St. Mary's Abbey Church, which are situated on the Abbey grounds. As of 2022, the community is composed of seventeen monks, including eleven priests.

St. Benedict's Preparatory School is a Catholic college preparatory school in Newark, New Jersey run by the Benedictine monks of Newark Abbey. The school serves boys and girls in kindergarten through twelfth grade on a 12-acre (4.9 ha) urban campus. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1990.

The Golden Dome Athletic Center in Newark, New Jersey is the hub of Rutgers–Newark athletics and teams, the Scarlet Raiders. It is located at 42 Warren Street between Downtown and University Heights. Built in 1977, it seats 2,000. The facility includes two gyms, five outdoor tennis courts, four racquetball courts, an exercise/dance studio and a 25-yard, eight-lane pool. Alumni Field across the street is the venue for NCAA baseball, softball and soccer games. Soccer and softball games are held on Alumni Field. Rutgers–Newark baseball team plays at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium

Bethany Baptist Church is a historic church at 117 W. Market Street in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The church traces its origins to 1870, when a group of African Americans established the church on Broad Street in Newark in the building of the Peddie Memorial Baptist Church. Under the leadership of the Reverend Ebenezer Bird, who had come from Virginia to lead the congregation of about 26 members, the group was officially sanctioned as a church by the Council of Baptist Churches in June 1871. Thus, the church prides itself on being the "first Baptist congregation founded by people of African descent."The Romanesque style church building was constructed in 1866. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.The church was under the stewardship of M. William Howard, Jr., from 2000 to 2015.The old building appears to have been replaced by a housing complex, which has been replaced by a new building at 275 W. Market Street. The new building was dedicated on May 2, 1976.

Wickliffe Presbyterian Church is a historic church at 111 13th Avenue in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. It is in Richardsonian Romanesque style and was designed by William Halsey Wood. It was built in 1889.The 13th Avenue church replaced a church used previously by the congregation at 2 Wickliffe Street, in Newark. Wickliffe Street intersects 13th Avenue a block or two away.The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.The church was demolished for the University Heights Houses. It was located on 13th Ave near Boston and Richmond Streets. What remains is a facade with two placards of the Historical significance, one dated 1992.
