Lucien is a French restaurant located at 14 1st Avenue in New York City. Lucien was opened by Moroccan-born restauranteur Lucien Bahaj in 1998. The menu includes traditional French fare inspired by Bahaj's upbringing in the South of France. Its clientele have included established celebrities through promotional collaboration with New York publicist Kaitlin Phillips; she has brought celebrities like Bella Hadid and Chloe Sevigny, and New York artists Jonas Mekas and Dash Snow, to the restaurant.Bahaj passed away in 2019, and today the restaurant's operations are handled by his son Zac.

East Village Radio (EVR), begun in August 2003, is an Internet radio station which broadcasts from a storefront studio in the East Village of Manhattan, in New York City. Originally a pirate radio station broadcasting at 88.1 MHz, the station shut down on May 23, 2014 and relaunched in conjunction with Dash Radio, June 3, 2015.EVR's street-level studio is on 21 First Avenue at East 1st Street. According to an MTA (Metropolitan Transit Authority) study of pedestrian traffic in New York City, almost 1,800 (1,000 during off-peak travel times) pedestrians passed by the sound booth per hour. Over 60 DJs and hosts provide 16 hours of free live programming a day, in two-hour show blocks, seven days a week. Programming features a mix of music, news, comedy and commentary. Music ranges from indie to new wave to coldwave to hip hop and post punk to vintage jazz, funk and soul to house, techno and ambient electronic. EVR supports the free radio movement.

Peretz Square is a public park in Lower Manhattan, New York City, which marks the spot where Houston Street, First Avenue, and First Street meet. Peretz Square marks the spot where the smaller grid of the Lower East Side meets the grand regularity of the Commissioners' Plan street grid of 1811. The New York City Marble Cemetery is a historic cemetery founded in 1831, and located at 52-74 East 2nd Street between First and Second Avenues in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. The cemetery has 258 underground burial vaults constructed of Tuckahoe marble on the site.The New York City Marble Cemetery, which was the city's second non-sectarian burial place, should not be confused with the nearby New York Marble Cemetery one block west, which was the first, having been established one year earlier. Both cemeteries were designated New York City landmarks in 1969, and in 1980 both were added to the National Register of Historic Places.
