The district comprises a cohesive group of houses, churches, commercial buildings and industrial structures reflecting the development of this crossroads town from its initial platting in 1762 through the early 20th century.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Antrim 1844 Country House Hotel is a historic inn located in the heart of Taneytown, Carroll County, Maryland, United States. The Mansion is a 2+1⁄2-story Greek Revival style brick masonry house constructed in 1844. The property retains many of its outbuildings and is operated as a hotel and restaurant. In 2022 the hotel itself is currently a member of Historic Hotels of America, an official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.The hotel was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977 as Antrim.

Of the city, George Washington once wrote, "Tan-nee town is but a small place with only the Street through wch.(sic) the road passes, built on. The buildings are principally of wood." Taneytown has a history museum that displays the history of the city for visitors and citizens to see. The Bullfrog Road Bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

It is a representative example of a family farm complex which spans the period from the late 18th century to the mid 20th century.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.Trevanion is a 2+1⁄2-story brick dwelling with an asymmetrical central hall plan with a tower. The original 1817 house was converted in 1855 to the "villa style" then popular in America, incorporating a combination of Italianate and Gothic architecture elements. Reflecting this is a brick tower and an adjoining gable end projection. In 1857, a 3+1⁄2-story wing was added. "Trevanion" is a family name and a term meaning "the meeting of streams" in Welsh.Trevanion was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
