Mariners' Harbor station

Mariners Harbor is a neighborhood located in the northwestern part of New York City's borough of Staten Island. It is bordered by Lake Avenue to the east, Forest Avenue to the south, Richmond Terrace to the north, and Holland Avenue to the west. The northwestern section of Mariners Harbor is often known as Arlington.

USS Colahan (DD-658) was a Fletcher-class destroyer of the United States Navy.

Lake Avenue is a station on the abandoned North Shore Branch of the Staten Island Railway in Mariners Harbor, Staten Island, New York. It has two tracks and two side platforms. It is located in an open cut, approximately 4.3 miles (6.9 km) from Saint George Terminal.

Harbor Road was a station on the abandoned North Shore Branch of the Staten Island Railway in Mariners Harbor, Staten Island, New York. The station, located under the overpass at the highest point of Harbor Road, was built in an open-cut with two tracks and one island platform. It was located 4.9 miles (7.9 km) from the Saint George terminal. The station was opened during the SIRT grade crossing elimination project of 1935 – 1937. It closed on March 31, 1953, along with the South Beach Branch and the rest of the North Shore Branch. The station was demolished in 2004 during a reconstruction of the rail system for reactivated freight service by the nearby Howland Hook Marine Terminal.

Standard Oil Company No. 16, later Pegasus, was a historic harbor tugboat located at Morris Canal Basin, Jersey City, New Jersey. She was built in 1907 by the Skinner Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company of Baltimore, Maryland for the Standard Oil Company. She had heavy steel frames and deck beams. She was 100 feet in length, 23 feet in beam and 11.2 feet in depth. She was registered at 175 gross tons. She had an original wooden pilot house and the engine room dated to 1953-1954 when converted from steam to diesel. At that time, Standard Oil sold the tug to the McAllister Towing and Transportation Company and she was renamed McAllister 41. In 1955, she was renamed John E. McAllister.Pamela Hepburn acquired the tug in 1987 and renamed her Pegasus. She served with Hepburn in commercial service for 10 years until her retirement in 1997. Subsequently, efforts were made to preserve the 90-year-old tug, and she was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. Pegasus was docked at Pier 25 in Manhattan as a museum ship for 13 years, but the preservation group began running into funding problems around 2015, and the tug had to be moved to Morris Canal Basin in Jersey City. Ultimately the group was unable to continue to maintain Pegasus, and she was towed to Staten Island for scrapping in March 2021.

The Mariners Harbor Houses are a public housing complex built and operated by the New York City Housing Authority and located in the Mariners Harbor neighborhood of Staten Island, New York City. It was completed on August 31, 1954. Consisting of 22 three and six-story buildings it contains 605 apartments housing some 1,728 residents. It is bordered by Lockman Avenue, Roxbury Street, Grandview Avenue, and Continental Place. Brabant Street runs through the complex. It is located within the boundaries of Staten Island's 121st Police Precinct. The Mariners Harbor Houses are the westernmost public housing development in New York City.

Bethlehem Staten Island also called Bethlehem Mariners Harbor was a large shipyard in Mariners Harbor, Staten Island, New York. The shipyard started building ships for World War II in January 1941 under the Emergency Shipbuilding Program and as the result of the Two-Ocean Navy Act of July 1940. The shipyard was part of the Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation which built ships for the United States Navy, and the United States Maritime Commission. Bethlehem Steel purchased the shipyard in June 1938 from United Shipyards. Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation closed the shipyard in 1959. The propeller factory and foundry continued operation for 10 more years at the site. Since 1980 the site is the May Ship Repair Contracting Corporation next to Shooters Island at the southern end of Newark Bay, off the North Shore.

The Church St. Adalbert is a parish church under the authority of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, located in Staten Island, New York City. The parish was established in 1901.

Graniteville Quarry Park is a public park operated by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, located on the North Shore of Staten Island, in the Graniteville area. The park is bordered on the north by Forest Avenue, on the south by Wilcox Street, on the east by the Christ United Methodist Church property and the backyards of private homes, all on Eunice Place, and on the west by Van Name Avenue, and in places, backyards of homes on that same street.

Elm Park is a station on the abandoned North Shore Branch of the Staten Island Railway (SIR). The station is located in an open cut under the Bayonne Bridge approach in Elm Park, Staten Island, at Morningstar Road between Innis Street and Newark Avenue. It has two tracks and two side platforms. The station is approximately 3.9 miles (6.3 km) from the Saint George terminal of the SIR.

PS 22 is a public elementary school in Graniteville, Staten Island, New York City. Located at 1860 Forest Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10303, the school has over one thousand students in grades Pre-K to K-5 and has a dual language program. PS 22 is the largest elementary school in Staten Island which draws students from a wide cross section of ethnic groups and socio-economic levels. The school has become famous for its PS22 Chorus program founded in 2000 by the school's music teacher, Gregg Breinberg. The choir has become an internet phenomenon with New York magazine calling it "the best-known elementary-school chorus on the planet".

Shooters Island is a 43-acre (17 ha) uninhabited island at the southern end of Newark Bay, off the North Shore of Staten Island in New York City. The boundary between the states of New York and New Jersey runs through the island, with a small portion on the north end of the island belonging to the cities of Bayonne and Elizabeth in New Jersey and the rest being part of the borough of Staten Island in New York City.
