Assassination of Robert F. Kennedy

The conspiracy theories relating to the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, a United States senator from New York, relate to non-standard accounts of the assassination that took place shortly after midnight on June 5, 1968, in Los Angeles, California. Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated at the Ambassador Hotel, during celebrations following his successful campaign in the Californian primary elections while seeking the Democratic nomination for U.S. President; Kennedy died the following day at Good Samaritan Hospital. The convicted murderer was a 24-year-old Christian Palestinian immigrant named Sirhan Sirhan, who remains incarcerated in Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility for the crime. However, as with his brother's death, Robert Kennedy's assassination and the circumstances surrounding it have spawned various conspiracy theories, particularly regarding the existence of a second gunman. Such theories have also centered on a woman wearing a polka-dot dress claiming responsibility for the crime, and the involvement of the Central Intelligence Agency. Many of these theories were examined during an investigation ordered by the United States Senate and were judged to be erroneous by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which investigated on the Senate's behalf.

The Ambassador Hotel was a hotel in Los Angeles, California. Designed by architect Myron Hunt, the Ambassador Hotel formally opened to the public on January 1, 1921. With its Mediterranean styling, tile floors, Italian stone fireplaces and semi-tropical courtyard, the Ambassador enchanted guests for over six decades. Later renovations by architect Paul Williams were made to the hotel in the late 1940s. It was also home to the Cocoanut Grove nightclub, Los Angeles’ premier night spot for decades; host to six Oscar ceremonies and to every United States President from Herbert Hoover to Richard Nixon.Prominent figures such as Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Sammy Davis, Nat King Cole, Lena Horne, Barbra Streisand, Bing Crosby, John Wayne, Lucille Ball, Marilyn Monroe, Yma Sumac and The Supremes were some of the many entertainers who attended and performed professionally at the Cocoanut Grove. The hotel was the site of the assassination of United States Senator Robert F. Kennedy on June 5, 1968. Due to the decline of the hotel and the surrounding area, the Ambassador Hotel was closed to guests in 1989. In 2001, the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) purchased the property with the intent of constructing three new schools within the area. After subsequent litigations to preserve the hotel as a historic site, a settlement allowed the Ambassador Hotel to be demolished in 2005, completed by early 2006.

The Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools, called the RFK Community Schools, is a complex of public schools in Los Angeles, California. This was formerly the site of the Ambassador Hotel, the site of the June 1968 assassination of presidential candidate United States Senator Robert F. Kennedy. The school was designed for 4,200 students, which can be filled by students within a nine-block radius. The schools cost $578 million to build, making it the most expensive public school in the United States.

The Equitable Life Building is a 138 m (453 ft) International style skyscraper in the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. It was completed in 1969 and has 34 floors. It is tied with the Los Angeles City Hall for the 36th tallest building in Los Angeles. Welton Becket & Associates designed the building for the Equitable Life Insurance Company. The facade is made of precast concrete that was sandblasted to expose the beige Texas limestone aggregate. The lobby of the Equitable Life Building hosts art in its vitrines. This space is called Equitable Vitrines. These vitrines have hosted art including Jennifer Moon's Will You Still Love Me: Learning to Love Yourself, It Is The Greatest Gift of All in 2014-2015. In an interview with Ocula Magazine, Equitable Vitrines founders Ellie Lee and Matt Connolly explained that they realised through negotiations with the building's management, 'bureaucrats, artists, and tenants—each required a different way of thinking and speaking about what art is and what it can or should do.'Since March 2, 2015, the Equitable Life Building has served as the chancery of the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles, occupying part of its fifth floor.

Immanuel Presbyterian Church is a church in Los Angeles, California. The congregation was established in 1888 in downtown Los Angeles as a spinoff from the existing First Presbyterian Church, also then located in downtown. The church's current building was completed in 1929, and is located on Wilshire Boulevard in what is now the Koreatown district of Los Angeles. The church was listed as a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument on February 4, 2003.

Los Angeles Pacific College was a four-year, liberal-arts college located on 5732 Ebey Avenue in the Hermon neighborhood of Hispanic East Los Angeles, California.The school was founded in 1903 to teach children and youth in grades one to twelve, by a group of laymen and staff of the Free Methodist Church, an Arminian Holiness sect. The campus also hosted a small all-women’s (junior) college from 1911 to 1960. The college failed in 1965.

The Hotel Chancellor is a historic building in the Mid-Wilshire area of Los Angeles, California. Built in 1924, it was for many years located on the block to the east of the city's famous Ambassador Hotel. The structure was designed by Milton M. Friedman in the Beaux Arts style. It has since been converted from a hotel to an apartment building. In 2006, the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places based on architectural criteria. It is a five-story building designed with a lobby, a lounge/restaurant, and a banquet/ballroom on the ground level and in its partial basement level. It originally had 114 units on its four upper levels; these were modified to 106 units. It is about 150 by 60 feet (46 m × 18 m) in plan.
