Strathcona was a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada, mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta using the first past the post method of voting from 1905 to 1913 and again from 2004 to 2012. It was renamed Edmonton South in 1917 and subsumed in a city-wide multiple-member district of Edmonton from 1921 to 1956. From 1959 to 1967 Strathcona Centre covered much of the old Strathcona district, with two or three other districts also bearing the Strathcona prefix. Later it took on the name Edmonton-Strathcona. The name Strathcona is now applied to the Strathcona County area outside the Edmonton corporate electoral district.

Bremner is a future urban community in central Alberta, Canada within Strathcona County. It is located on the north side of Highway 16 (Yellowhead Highway) and the east side of Highway 21, adjacent to the northeast corner of Sherwood Park. Its geographic centre is approximately 25 km (16 mi) east of downtown Edmonton, 14 km (8.7 mi) south of Fort Saskatchewan and 7 km (4.3 mi) northwest of Ardrossan. The planned boundaries of Bremner are Highway 21 to the west, Highway 16 to the south, Range Road 222 to the east (which becomes Highway 824 south of Highway 16) and Pointe-Aux-Pins Creek to the north.Endorsed by Strathcona County Council over Colchester as its next future urban community on March 22, 2016, Bremner is anticipated to house 54,000 residents and provide 9,800 jobs at full build-out, which is anticipated to occur in 2054. Additional lands north of Pointe-Aux-Pins Creek and south of Township Road 540 present an opportunity for further expansion of Bremner in the long-term.The endorsement of Bremner as Strathcona County's next urban growth node enables more detailed planning to be undertaken in advance of subdivision and development as adjacent Sherwood Park to the west and southwest continues to build-out. Full build-out of Sherwood Park is anticipated by 2026.

The Strathcona Community Hospital is located in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, and provides 27 hospital beds with sufficient infrastructure capacity for 36 additional beds in the future. The hospital opened on May 21, 2014. The hospital development was an issue in the Strathcona County municipal election, 2010. The incumbent mayor, Cathy Olesen, was defeated by Linda Osinchuk who ran a campaign attacking contemporary plans for the hospital which involved no overnight beds. After the election, the Alberta government announced revised plans to add beds to the hospital. The project broke ground in 2007 and was expected to be completed in late 2009, but was put on hold due to the down turn in the economy. Construction was resumed in spring 2010 and was completed in 2014.

Archbishop Jordan High School is an academic Catholic secondary school located in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada. It was founded in 1969 and is named after Archbishop Anthony Jordan. The school motto - scri crui crediti - is based on Jordan's motto; scio crui crediti and the school football team, the Scots, is named after Jordan's Scottish birthplace.The school was originally located on the corner of Brentwood Blvd and Oak Street. In 2013 a new larger building, accommodating up to 1,400 students, was built, and the old building was repurposed as a middle school. The new location is in Emerald Hill subdivision.The new larger building has allowed the school to offer a wider variety of course, including Cosmetics, Dance, foods courses and design classes. There are multiple sports teams students can join such as a football team, soccer team, rugby team, swimming team and more. Archbishop Jordan students participate in many competitive sports events, in particular soccer and handball. Other school events are: Dramatic productions, ABJ talent show, The Scots nominees, and the Ultimate Scavenger Hunt. As of 2017, the Emerald Hills Leisure Center opened just adjacent to the school, providing students with the opportunity to join swimming teams and do something in their spare time. ABJ is also home to a French Language Arts program that includes Math, Social studies and French classes. This provides students with a French background, or new students who wish to learn the basics of the language, the opportunity to do so with qualified teachers who care about their students.

Sherwood Park Mall is a shopping mall located in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada. It has 97 stores and services including Safeway, Cineplex Cinemas, Designer Shoe Warehouse and Indigo Books & Music. It is the only enclosed mall in Strathcona County.It opened in 1972 under the name "Eastgate Mall", and cost $4 million to build. After owner Patrician Land Corporation went into receivership in 1984, Toronto developer Joseph Tenenbaum and Northern Telecom took over the property and renovated and doubled the size of the mall, and also added a new food court. The name change occurred with these changes. A second expansion of the mall occurred in 2000. An interior renovation was completed in 2012. In 2017 the mall had its end anchors switch sides, with the Safeway and Chapters move from the northern side of the mall to the south side. With that change the Shoppers Drug Mart was able to gain a mall entrance. A further expansion was completed in early 2020, changing the entrance of the former Safeway location to a regular mall entrance, along with the addition of a Dollarama. The Strathcona County Public Library was located in the mall from 1992 to 2010, when it moved into a new building.

The Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital is an acute care hospital located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. The facility opened in 2012, replacing the former Fort Saskatchewan Health Centre.
