Andrews Railway Station was a station on the Hutt Valley Line section of the Wairarapa Line in New Zealand. The line ran up the western side of the valley until 28 February 1954 when the Melling-Belmont section of the line closed. Andrews was north of Melling and the Belmont stations, but south of Gosse & Co’s siding, on the closed section of line.

Pitcaithly’s railway station and siding was a station on the Hutt Valley Line section of the Wairarapa Line in New Zealand north of Melling, which ran up the western side of the valley until 1954. It was replaced by Andrews railway station in 1938.

Belmont railway station was a station on the Hutt Valley Line section of the Wairarapa Line until 28 February 1954, when the Melling-Belmont section of the line on the western side of the Hutt Valley, New Zealand was closed and the through line to Upper Hutt and the Wairarapa rerouted through the centre of the valley. The station was opened on 15 December 1875, along with the Haywards railway station (now called Manor Park Railway Station). It was 10.22 miles from Wellington, and 54 feet in altitude. It served the suburb of Belmont, then a rural area. The station initially catered for freight, but after a few months this was discontinued except for that which could be taken in passenger brake vans.

The Television New Zealand Archive collection contains over 600,000 hours of television spanning almost 55 years of New Zealand's public television history. It includes New Zealand content such as documentaries, dramas, sports programmes and every TVNZ news broadcast from December 1986 to 2014. The archive only holds titles that have previously been broadcast – raw footage is not included. The archive also includes thousands of photographic stills. Both TVNZ and the Ministry for Culture and Heritage hold a list of the titles held in the TVNZ Archive collection. This has subsequently been released under the Official Information Act. The Ministry considers the majority of titles to be of high heritage and cultural value and the Minister of Broadcasting Craig Foss stated it was a "unique record of life in New Zealand". The contents of the collection are subject to the Public Records Act 2005. In 2014 the Ministry for Culture and Heritage, on behalf of the Crown, became the guardian of the archive. The physical collection is located in the Wellington region, in the former TVNZ Avalon facility now owned by the Department of Internal Affairs.

Avalon is a suburb of Lower Hutt in New Zealand, formed as a private residential development in the 1970s on land formerly occupied by market-gardens on the left (eastern) bank of the Hutt River. It features mostly California-inspired designed houses, often split-level, with 3 or 4 bedrooms. It also features one of the biggest park/playground in Lower HuttThe Hutt City Council formally defines Avalon as the area bounded by Percy Cameron Street and the Wingate Overbridge in the north, the Hutt Valley rail line in the east, Fairway Drive and Daysh Street in the south, and the Hutt River in the west.

GNS Science (Māori: Te Pū Ao), officially registered as the Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences Limited, is a New Zealand Crown Research Institute. It focuses on geology, geophysics (including seismology and volcanology), and nuclear science (particularly ion-beam technologies, isotope science and carbon dating). GNS Science was known as the Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences (IGNS) from 1992 to 2005. Originally part of the New Zealand Government's Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), it was established as an independent organisation when the Crown Research Institutes were set up in 1992.As well as undertaking basic research, and operating the national geological hazards monitoring network (GeoNet) and the National Isotope Centre (NIC), GNS Science contracts its services to various private groups (notably energy companies) both in New Zealand and overseas, as well as to central and local government agencies, to provide scientific advice and information.GNS Science has its head office in Avalon, Lower Hutt, with other facilities in Gracefield, Dunedin, Wairakei, Auckland and Tokyo.

Belmont, a suburb of Lower Hutt, to the north of Wellington in the North Island of New Zealand, lies on the west bank of the Hutt River, on State Highway 2 (SH 2), the Wellington-Hutt main road, and across the river from the centre of Lower Hutt. It borders the Belmont Regional Park and features much native bush and scenic views. The Belmont Picnic Grounds were a popular venue for outings in the early 1900s. They were operated originally by Mr Kilminster (ca. 1911–1914), then by Mr C. E. Clarke (ca. 1914–1919) and finally by Mrs Eliza Presants, wife of Philip Robert Presants, ca. 1920–1932.The Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences has a kiosk substation in the area. The site has rocky or very stiff soil.Belmont Railway Station, New Zealand closed in 1954.

Fraser Park is Lower Hutt's largest recreational sportsground, at 27 hectares it is the biggest sporting ground in the lower North Island. It is home to the Ricoh Sports Centre, a multi-use venue, as well as sports like rugby, rugby league, football, touch football, cricket, kilikiti (Samoan cricket) and softball.

Naenae College, is a state-run coeducational secondary school located in north-central Lower Hutt, New Zealand. It is situated on a 12-hectare (30-acre) site in the suburb of Avalon. The school was founded in 1953 to serve the Naenae state housing development, although the school is located in the suburb of Avalon. The school has an enrolment of 836 students from Years 9 to 13 (ages 12 to 18) as of April 2023. Chris Taylor took over as Principal from acting principal John Russell in October 2023.

Kimi Ora School Wellington is a special needs school in Wellington, New Zealand, for students with disabilities. Kimi ora is Maori for "seeking well-being in health" or "to be made whole". Kimi Ora Specialist School caters for High and Very high special needs pupils of primary and secondary school age to adulthood, or ages 5 to 21, and draws pupils from the Wellington region, up to the Kapiti Coast and the Hutt Valley. The school offers an holistic approach to education. Speech language therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy are offered on site, on an ongoing basis, and add an extra dimension to each student's education. The school had been located in Thorndon for nearly 60 years before it was decided to leave the area in 2011 allowing it to increase its roll. The move allowed Kimi Ora to increase its roll from 35 to 40 students (22 at Naenae and 18 at Evans Bay). In the beginning of 2011 the new Kimi Ora Base School was opened next to the existing intermediate schools in Naenae (Lower Hutt) and a satellite unit in Evans Bay (Kilbirnie). The Base School has been awarded by the New Zealand Green Building Council with a 5 Star Green Star NZ - Education 2009 Certified Rating. Kimi Ora School now has a roll of 99 students as at 2023. There are now five sites covering the Lower Hutt and Wellington region. The Base school in Naenae, a satellite with 3 classes located at Pomare Primary School in Lower Hutt, a satellite with 1 class located in the Manaaki Disability Trust in Lower Hutt, a satellite with 2 classes at Miramar Central School in Wellington and a satellite with 3 classes located on the grounds of Evans Bay Intermediate in Wellington.

Wingate is a mixed residential and industrial neighbourhood of Lower Hutt, in the Wellington Region of New Zealand's North Island. Served by Wingate Railway Station, the area comprises parts of the suburbs of Taitā, Avalon and Naenae. The area is home to many of Lower Hutt's manufacturing and export-oriented businesses.The area was named after the British general, Orde Wingate, who was killed in an air crash in Burma in 1944. Wingate Railway Station was opened in 1950.

The Glebe is probably the oldest surviving house in the Hutt Valley, New Zealand, and was the first vicarage to be built in the Hutt Valley. The building is classified as a "Category I" historic place by Heritage New Zealand.Built in 1856 on land given to the Anglican church by Edward Gibbon Wakefield. The house was designed by William Corbett, a church warden for the Naenae district. At the turn of the 20th century a new vicarage was built, and the house was on sold to prominent Wellington architect Frederick de Jersey Clere. Clere renamed the house "The Glebe", which is an old term for land owned by the church. He also added on a southern wing extension to the house. The building is a two-storey, timber weatherboard home with a gable roof - originally the roof was made from shingles. The window hoods aren't original, and an original exterior staircase has since been removed.
