Owned and operated by the American Broadcasting Company for much of its history, it is one of the country's oldest radio stations. WABC began broadcasting in early October 1921, originally as WJZ in Newark, New Jersey. From 1943 through 2007, the station served as the flagship for the original ABC Radio Network (and its direct predecessor, the Blue Network) and ABC's radio news service. While WABC has been a talk radio station since 1982, the station broadcast a Top 40 music format from 1960 to 1982. Starting in the 1960s to 1978, WABC was not only the dominant contemporary music station in New York City, but was also among the most listened-to radio stations in North America, serving as a template for many other Top 40 stations around the country.

The Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital (JMSCH) at Hackensack University Medical Center is a pediatric acute care hospital with 105 beds. It is a designated New Jersey children's hospital and full institutional member of the National Association of Children's Hospitals.It is affiliated with the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine at Seton Hall University, Rutgers University New Jersey Medical School, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School in Newark, and is a member of the Hackensack Meridian Health system. JMSCH provides comprehensive pediatric specialties and sub-specialties for infants, children, teens, and young adults aged 0–22 throughout Northern New Jersey.

Hackensack High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school located in Hackensack, New Jersey, United States, operating as part of the Hackensack Public Schools. Hackensack High School serves students from the Bergen County, New Jersey communities of Hackensack, South Hackensack (80 students in 2011–12), Rochelle Park (120 students). In March 2020, the Maywood Public Schools received approval from the New Jersey Department of Education to end the relationship it had established with Hackensack in 1969 and began transitioning incoming ninth graders to Henry P. The district serves students from Teterboro, a non-operating district that was merged into the Hasbrouck Heights School District following its dissolution on July 1, 2010.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 547 students and 45.7 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.0:1. South Hackensack is a township in Bergen County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 2,701, an increase of 323 (+13.6%) from the 2010 census count of 2,378, which in turn reflected an increase of 129 (+5.7%) from the 2,249 counted in the 2000 census.South Hackensack was formed as a township by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on November 15, 1935, replacing Lodi Township, based on the results of a referendum held November 5, 1935, which passed by a margin of 309 to 15.
