Sahrdaya College of Engineering is an Engineering college situated in Kodakara, Thrissur District which offers Bachelors's (Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering), Master (Computer Science and Engineering, Embedded systems, Industrial Biotechnology) and Doctoral (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics STEM) programs in Engineering and Technology. Sahrdaya is the "only Engineering College in Kerala, Consistently with above 80% pass" (2009, 2010, 2011) in the result analysis of engineering colleges at Kerala by the Department of Technical Education and University of Calicut under the direction of Hon High Court of Kerala in 2012. The college is run by Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Irinjalakuda. The college is affiliated to All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) New Delhi, and the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. Sahrdaya College of Engineering and Technology (SCET) was established in 2002, and is promoted by the Irinjalakuda Diocesan Education Trust, is an ISO 9001:2015 certified Institution. Sahrdaya, also holds accreditation from NBA (BME, BT, CE, CSE), NAAC and the Institution of Engineers (India), is considered one of the fastest-growing Engineering colleges in Kerala with recognition from the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) of Govt. of India as Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO). State of the art infrastructure of the institute is spread over 45 acres of green campus with a total build-up area of 57854 sq.m.

Kallettumkara is a village which is the epi-centre town of Aloor Panchayat and is in Thrissur district in the state of Kerala. Kaletumkara is the Western border of newly formed Chalakudy Taluk although it elects it Legislative Assembly Candidate from Irinjalakuda Constituency, India. Kalletumkara is popular as the place where Irinjalakuda Railway Station is located and is 8 km (5.0 mi) away from the Irinjalakuda Town.

Thazhekad, is the site of one of the earliest St Thomas Christian communities in Kerala. Once a prosperous inland port, during heyday of Muziris. The landscape was changed with the great floods of 1341AD. It is the site of the Thazhekad Sasanam, a stone inscribed with one of the earliest surviving edicts granting special privileges to the St Thomas Christians. The inscription can be dated palaeographically to between the 8th and 10th centuries. The Thazhekad St Sebastian church is one of the oldest in Kerala dating back to AD 800. The church is also the largest pilgrimage center in the Irinjalakuda Diocese. The churches and temples in the area were ravaged by Tippu Sultan's army, during his invasion of the south, between 1789 and 1791.

Avittathur Mahadeva Temple, an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is situated at Avittathur village of Thrissur District in Kerala state in India. Avittathur gramam (village) is one of the 64 original Brahmin settlements in the ancient Kerala. The Avittathur temple as well as Avittathur Gramam is equally famous like Thaliparamb gramam, Sukapuram gramam, Irinjalakuda gramam and Peruvanam gramam. Avittathur Mahadeva Temple is more than 2000 years old and four old inscriptions have been discovered. According to folklore, sage Agastya has installed the idol of Lord Shiva. It is also believed that the temple's shiva lingam was installed by lord Parasurama the sixth incarnation of Lord Maha Vishnu. The temple is a part of the famous 108 Shiva temples of Kerala.

It is located near the towns of Irinjalakuda and Chalakudi. Since 1901, the name "Aloor" has been simplified to "Alur" by the Cochin State and Central Government departments.

Avittathur is a small village in Thrissur district of Kerala state, India. It was one of the 64 original Brahmin settlement in the Kerala state. It is famous for an ancient shiva temple, where 4 very old inscriptions have been discovered. According to legend, the temple was consecrated by sage agastya and the name of the village was originally agastyaputtur but it seems to be just the Sanskritization of the word. Legendary Chakyar Koothu and Koodiyattam maestro Nātyāchārya Vidūshakaratnam Padma Shri Māni Mādhava Chākyār used to perform here for decades.

Thottipal Bhagavati Temple is a Bhagavathi temple located in Thrissur District of Kerala state. It is one of the 108 Devi temples installed by Parashurama. The temple was destroyed in the attacks by Tipu Sultan and was renovated in the late 19th century.

Don Bosco Higher Secondary School is a private, English-medium, co-educational school in Irinjalakuda, Kerala, India. It was established in March 1962 on the invitation of the late Bishop of Thrissur, George Alappatt. It began as an English-medium and a Malayalam-medium school and the Government sanctioned it as an unaided but recognised school on 6 May 1962. The Malayalam-medium section was discontinued later. A boarding section was started on 2 January 1963 but was closed later on. In 1987, an indoor stadium was built to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the Institution.
