The Cordova Desalination Plant (CDP) is a desalination facility in Cordova in Cebu province, Philippines. It is the first desalination plant in the Philippines.

Lapu-Lapu City College (LLCC) is an educational institution in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, Philippines. It is located at Barangay Basak and Barangay Gun-ob. It was established through the City Ordinance No. 354-2010, designed to serve indigent students of the city by providing them access to quality and affordable education.

Basak is a Barangay in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu Province, Central Visayas, Philippines. It is bounded in the northeast by Pusok and Bankal, in the east by Pajac and Agus, in the southeast by Marigondon and Subabasbas, in the west by Babag and Gun-ob, and in the northwest by Pajo. In 2020, Basak was home to 71,990 residents.

Korean Air Flight 631 (KE631/KAL631) was a scheduled passenger flight from Incheon International Airport near Seoul, South Korea to Mactan–Cebu International Airport in Metro Cebu, Philippines. On October 23, 2022, the Airbus A330-300 operating this flight overran the runway while landing in Cebu due to hydraulic failure. Despite what reports described as a "terrifying close call," all passengers and crew members survived without injuries. However, the aircraft was damaged beyond repair and written off as a result of the accident, making it the 14th hull loss of an Airbus A330.The crash is the 17th Korean Air crash since 1970 that resulted in a total write off of aircraft and the first in 23 years.

Mactan is a densely populated island located a few kilometers (~1 mile) east of Cebu Island in the Philippines. The island is part of Cebu province and it is divided into the city of Lapu-Lapu and the municipality of Cordova. The island is separated from Cebu by the Mactan Channel which is presently crossed by three bridges: the Cebu–Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX), the Mactan–Mandaue Bridge, and the Marcelo Fernan Bridge. The island covers some 65 square kilometres (25 sq mi) and has a population of 527,071 as of 2020, making it the nation's most densely populated island. Along with Olango Island Group, the isles are administered by a city and a municipality covering 75.25 square kilometres (29.05 sq mi). Mactan–Cebu International Airport is located on the island.

The Cebu–Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX), also known as the Cebu–Cordova Bridge and the Third Cebu–Mactan Bridge (or simply, the Third Bridge), is an 8.9-kilometer (5.5 mi) toll bridge expressway in Metro Cebu that links Cebu City and Cordova, Cebu. Crossing the Mactan Channel, it is the third road link between Cebu and Mactan islands, and the first between Cebu City and Cordova. It is the longest bridge in the Philippines, surpassing the 5-kilometer (3.1 mi) Candaba Viaduct of North Luzon Expressway and the 2-kilometer (1.2 mi) San Juanico Bridge between Samar and Leyte. It also surpasses the Marcelo Fernan Bridge (which also crosses the Mactan Channel) as the longest cable-stayed bridge in the Philippines.

Metropolitan Cebu, or simply Metro Cebu, (Cebuano: Kaulohang Sugbo; Filipino: Kalakhang Cebu), is the main urban center of the province of Cebu in the Philippines. Metro Cebu is located along the central eastern portion of the island including the nearby island of Mactan. It accounts for 19.9 percent of the land area and 61.5 percent of the population (2020 census) of the entire province of Cebu. Metro Cebu is a metropolitan area that consists of Cebu City (the capital of Cebu and the regional center of Central Visayas) along with twelve surrounding cities and municipalities. The Metropolitan Cebu Development and Coordinating Board (MCDCB) is a body mandated to formulate development plans for the Metro Cebu area and coordinate their implementation. Unlike the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, the MCDCB does not have legal and institutional powers. However, MMDA's powers are limited by jurisdiction to only the core of the agglomeration. It is the third largest metropolitan area in the Philippines, after Metro Manila and Metro Davao.

Mactan Island Aquarium is a public aquarium in Lapu-Lapu, Cebu. The aquarium museum has been open since October 2008 and has over 30 exhibits showcasing Cebu's aquatic life from snakes to sharks. The aquarium has recently completed a transfer from Barangay Basak to Barangay Maribago, still on Mactan Island. The new larger site is between White Sands Resort and EGI City by the Sea Condos.

Gilutongan is one of the islands comprising the Olango Island Group, a group of islands in between Mactan and the Danajon Bank in the Philippines. Most of the Olango islands are part of Lapu-Lapu City, Gilutongan, however, is under the jurisdiction of the municipality of Cordova, Cebu. The island is approximately 5 km (3.1 mi) southeast from the town of Cordova. The population of Gilutongan is 1,606. The island is one of the destinations of island-hopping tours because the island has white-sand beaches and a marine sanctuary, where tourists can do snorkeling and underwater diving activities. The island is locally administered by Barangay Gilutongan. The nearby uninhabited Nalusuan Island is also part of the territory of the barangay. Gilutongan has one public school, Gilutongan Integrated School. In December 2021, Typhoon Rai or Supertyphoon Odette has damaged 85% of the houses in Gilutongan and most of the residents' boats were wrecked. Relief assistance was provided to the affected families on the island by the local government, civil society organizations, and the Philippine Navy.

Fuerte de San Pedro is a military defense structure in Cebu (Philippines), built by the Spanish under the command of Miguel López de Legazpi, first governor of the Captaincy General of the Philippines. It is located in the area now called Plaza Independencia, in the pier area of the city. The original fort was made of wood and built after the arrival of Legazpi and his expedition. In the early 17th century a stone fort was built to repel Muslim raiders. Today's structure dates from 1738 and is the oldest triangular bastion fort in the country. It served as the nucleus of the first Spanish settlement in the Philippines. During the Philippine Revolution at the end of the 19th century, it was attacked and taken by Filipino revolutionaries, who used it as a stronghold.
