El Sereno (Spanish for "The Serene") is a Los Angeles neighborhood in the Eastside Los Angeles region of Los Angeles County, California.

Woodrow Wilson High School is a Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) high school in the Northeast region of Los Angeles, California, United States. It is located in the community of El Sereno, atop the Ascot Hills at 4500 Multnomah Street.The school serves the El Sereno and University Hills communities, and areas of City Terrace and Ramona Gardens. Wilson High, with an enrollment of approximately 1,500 students, is under the direct supervision of LAUSD Local District East, Board District 2.The school colors are Navy blue, Vegas gold and White. The school's mascot is the "Mighty Mule", a mule also nicknamed "Seymour".

Academia Semillas del Pueblo Xinaxcalmecac (English: Seeds of the People Academy) is an Indigenous Mexican public charter school of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). It offers instruction in grades Kindergarten through eighth, and is located in the community of El Sereno, on the east side of Los Angeles. The school, which opened in 2002, was founded by Marcos Aguilar, a former teacher at Garfield Senior High School.

The Los Angeles Avenues refer to a series of 50 numbered streets in Los Angeles, California in the Northeast and Eastside regions. They are all designated with the word "Avenue" followed by a number such as "Avenue 64." The Avenues are located in the Los Angeles neighborhoods of Lincoln Heights, Cypress Park, Montecito Heights, Glassell Park, Highland Park, Mt. Washington and Eagle Rock. They are not related to 2nd through 13th Avenues west of Arlington Avenue in Jefferson Park and other neighborhoods in South Los Angeles. The Avenues street gang derives their name from these avenues.

Abraham Lincoln High School, usually referred to simply as Lincoln High School, is a secondary school located in the Lincoln Heights district of Los Angeles, California, United States. Located in the East Los Angeles-area community, surrounded by El Sereno, Chinatown, Boyle Heights and Cypress Park. The school is named after Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, and was one of the first public high schools established in California. It is one of the District 5 high schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District, the second largest school district in the US. Lincoln students are drawn from Chinatown and other areas. Cypress Park residents may attend either Lincoln or Franklin High School.

The Arroyo Seco Bicycle Path is an approximately 2-mile (3.2 km) long Class I bicycle path along the Arroyo Seco river channel and canyon in the Northeast Los Angeles region of Los Angeles County, California. It parallels to the Arroyo Seco Parkway (CA Route 110), which is also apart of the canyon.

Elephant Hill Open Space is an urban park on a hill in El Sereno in Los Angeles County, California. Portions of Elephant Hill have been privately developed. The central tract was rezoned as open space in 2012. The open space is managed by the Mountains Recreation and Conservancy Authority (MRCA). MRCA "owns and manages approximately eight acres of land in Elephant Hill", with a budget to improve the property and acquire additional parcels from private owners. There is also an Elephant Hill in Puente Hills.

Rancho Rosa Castilla was a 3,283-acre (13.29 km2) Mexican land grant in the southwestern San Rafael Hills, in present day Los Angeles County, California, given to Juan Ballesteros in 1831 by Governor Manuel Victoria.It included present day Rose Hills, Lincoln Heights, City Terrace, El Sereno and portions of South Pasadena, Alhambra, and Monterey Park. After California statehood, the land grant failed to receive confirmation from the U.S. Public Land Commission.
