Calvert Cliffs State Park is a public recreation area in Lusby, Calvert County, Maryland, that protects a portion of the cliffs that extend for 24 miles along the eastern flank of the Calvert Peninsula on the west side of Chesapeake Bay from Chesapeake Beach southward to Drum Point. The state park is known for the abundance of mainly Middle Miocene sub-epoch fossils that can be found on the shoreline.

Cove Point LNG Terminal is an offshore liquid natural gas shipping terminal operated by BHE GT&S, a Berkshire Hathaway Energy company. It is located near Lusby, Maryland, United States, on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay, and exports liquefied natural gas (LNG) and also stores gas. LNG is exported on specially designed ships known as LNG carriers. The shipping dock (38.402°N 76.384°W / 38.402; -76.384 (Dominion Cove Point LNG shipping dock)) is located about 2.3 kilometres (1.4 mi) from the plant's storage tanks (38.389°N 76.408°W / 38.389; -76.408) and is connected by pipes in an underwater tunnel. The site also contains a liquefaction plant. BHE GT&S has full operational control of the facility, sharing its 25% ownership with Dominion Energy (50%) and Brookfield Infrastructure Partners (25%), investing through its Super Core-infrastructure fund. In July 2023, Berkshire Hathaway Energy agreed to acquire a further 50% stake in the venture for $3.3 billion in cash. After that, Buffett's company will own 75%. 25% stay with Brookfield.By August 2022, Cove Point had safely loaded 300 commercial cargo for export since exporting began in Spring 2018, reaching 28 countries. The Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant (CCNPP) is a nuclear power plant located on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay near Lusby, Calvert County, Maryland in the Mid-Atlantic United States. It is the only nuclear power plant in the state of Maryland.

Morgan Hill Farm, also known as Morgan's Fresh or Hill Farm, is a historic home located at Lusby, Calvert County, Maryland. It is a 1+1⁄2-story gable-roofed frame house of a T-shaped plan, with single exterior chimneys on each of the three exposed ends. The original building appears to have been built about 1700, with extensively remodeled in the early 19th century. In 1952 a large rear wing was added to the house. Outbuildings include a one-story log servants' quarter, a log smokehouse, and a large tobacco barn. Phillip Morgan received the original land grant in 1651, under the name Morgan's Fresh. Morgan, a captain in the Puritan Militia and a locally prominent man, and sold the property in 1670 to Robert Day. In 1836 the property was sold by Day's descendants to Richard Breeden, who was probably responsible for the extensive renovations made to the house in the early 19th century and renamed the property Hill Farm.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Patuxent High School (pronounced- Pa-tucks-ent) is a comprehensive, four-year public high school in Lusby, Calvert County, Maryland, United States. The school draws from the communities of Cove Point, the Chesapeake Ranch Estates, Drum Point and Solomons. Patuxent has 69 certified teachers, four full time counselors and a full time registrar who serve 1073 total students and 257 seniors (in 2019–20).

Lusby is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Calvert County, Maryland, United States. The population of the CDP was 1,835 at the 2010 census. Residents of the Chesapeake Ranch Estates and Drum Point communities also use the Lusby ZIP code designation.

Chesapeake Ranch Estates-Drum Point was a census-designated place in Calvert County, Maryland, for the 2000 United States Census, when it had a population of 11,503. For the 2010 census the area was split into the CDPs of Chesapeake Ranch Estates and Drum Point. The communities are only a few minutes from the popular weekend resort town Solomons as well as the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, Calvert Cliffs State Park and fossil grounds, and the Dominion Cove Point liquefied natural gas terminal.

Flag Ponds Nature Park is a nature preserve located in Lusby, Maryland along the Chesapeake Bay in Calvert County, Maryland. It is operated by the Calvert County Department of Natural Resources. The park includes nature trails and a beach for swimmers. Fossil shark's teeth eroded from the Calvert Cliffs formation may be collected on the beach. The area included in the park was once a center for pound net fishing from the early 1900s through 1955. One fishing shanty remained until October 2012 when it burned down. It has since been rebuilt.

Dowell was a small, rural unincorporated community in Calvert County, Maryland, United States, located immediately north of Solomons. The city once had its own zip code, that being 20629, but it was changed to 20688, shared with Solomons. Solomons now encompasses the entirety of the Dowell peninsula.

Preston-on-the-Patuxent is a historic home located at Johnstown, Calvert County, Maryland, United States. It is a modest 1+1⁄2-story brick house which has had several later additions made to it. While the home has a traditional construction date of about 1651, there is no structural evidence to indicate a date earlier than about 1725. It has been reported by Puritan knowledge that the original Preston home burned down in 1672, to be replaced by the present structure at a later date. Preston-on-the-Patuxent is popularly, if erroneously, known as the seat of the government of Maryland from 1654 to 1657, during the Puritan regime. The belief that the property was the "capital" comes from evidence that the Council, the Assembly, and the Provincial Court met "at Patuxent" in the 1650s. Richard Preston, a participant in each of the three bodies, most probably hosted their meetings in his dwelling located near the Patuxent River.Preston-on-the-Patuxent was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
