The Salisbury Plain River is a 4.7-mile-long (7.6 km) river in Plymouth County, Massachusetts that flows from the city of Brockton into the towns of West Bridgewater and East Bridgewater where it joins the Matfield River, a major tributary of the Taunton River.The Salisbury Plain River flows through the heart of Brockton, Massachusetts, once a major shoe manufacturing center. The river is formed by several smaller streams, including Trout Brook, Cary Brook, and Salisbury Brook.

The Old Post Office Building is a historic building in Brockton, Massachusetts. The two story brick Colonial Revival-style post office was built in 1898 and expanded in 1932. It was designed under the auspices of the federal government's supervising architect, James Knox Taylor, as a copy of Independence Hall in Philadelphia. The building was renovated in 1977 and became home of the Brockton Public Schools central administration offices. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Brockton Edison Electric Illuminating Company Power Station or "Brockton Edison Company - Old Power Station" is a historic power plant at 70 School Street in Brockton, Massachusetts. It was one of the earliest power plants built by Thomas Edison. The plant opened on October 1, 1883. It contained three "H" dynamos capable of powering about 1600 lamps.The Brockton plant was soon followed by others in Lawrence and Fall River, Massachusetts, and Newburgh, New York. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

The city hall of Brockton, Massachusetts is located at 45 School Street. It is a predominantly brick 2+1⁄2-story building sited on an entire city block bounded by School Street, East Elm Street, and City Hall Square. The Romanesque Revival structure was designed by local architect Wesley Lyng Minor, and built in 1892–94. It has entrances on three sides, each under a round Richardsonian arch with carved voussoirs. Its most prominent feature is a five-story tower, decorated with terra cotta panels and topped by a steeply-pitched Gothic style hip roof. The east elevation also has a three-story circular tower topped by a battlement. It was the first purpose-built building for housing the city's offices. The grand hall of the interior features murals depicting scenes of the American Civil War, painted by Richard Holland and Mortimer Lamb in 1893.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

The Grover Shoe Factory disaster was an industrial explosion, building collapse and fire that killed 58 people and injured 150 when it leveled the R. B. Grover shoe factory in Brockton, Massachusetts on March 20, 1905. Following a boiler explosion, the four-story wooden building collapsed and the ruins burst into flames, incinerating workers trapped in the wreckage. The Grover disaster brought new attention to industrial safety and led to stringent safety laws and a national code governing the safe operation of steam boilers.

The Centre and Montello Streets Historic District encompasses an area of well-preserved commercial buildings in Brockton, Massachusetts. The district extends west along Centre Street from the junction of Centre and Montello Streets in downtown Brockton, and includes a few buildings on Montello south of that intersection. The district was selected for historic status because it was thought to preserve Brockton's past as the "Shoe City". In the early 20th century Brockton was the largest manufacturer of shoes in the United States of America.

W.B. Mason has over 60 distribution centers and leases over 1,000 delivery trucks from Ryder servicing more than 300,000 businesses across the United States.

Brockton station is an MBTA Commuter Rail station in Brockton, Massachusetts. It serves the MBTA Middleborough/Lakeville Line and is a stop on the seasonal CapeFLYER service. The station has a single accessible full-length high-level platform that serves the line's two tracks. It is located adjacent to the BAT Centre, the primary hub for Brockton Area Transit Authority local bus service. The first station in the town (then called North Bridgewater) opened in 1846 on the Fall River Railroad. It was rebuilt in 1873–74 and renamed Brockton in 1874. The railroad helped Brockton grow into a major manufacturing center. In the 1890s, Brockton was the site of the state's first major grade crossing elimination program, which included the construction of a massive stone viaduct and a pair of station buildings designed by Bradford Gilbert. Passenger service ended in 1959, and the station was demolished during an urban renewal program in the 1960s. After two decades of planning, the modern station was opened for commuter rail service by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in 1997. The BAT Centre was opened in 1999.
