Mechanicsville is an unincorporated community located within Readington Township in Hunterdon County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is located along present day US Route 22, just east of Whitehouse near the intersection of Lamington Road. The hamlet once had a tavern, a store, numerous mechanic shops as well as a number of residences. As Whitehouse and Mechanicsville lost many of the businesses along the main road, the two hamlets eventually merged. The Whitehouse General Store, the East Whitehouse Fire Department and the Whitehouse United Methodist Church are in the section of Whitehouse that used to be Mechanicsville. The Ryland Inn was located in this section of Whitehouse. The Whitehouse–Mechanicsville Historic District, which includes historic places in both Whitehouse and Mechanicsville, was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 17, 2015.

The Ryland Inn is a restaurant in Readington Township, New Jersey, that won the James Beard Mid-Atlantic region top prize. It won several awards and was visited by then-president Ronald Reagan.

Whitehouse, also spelled White House, is an unincorporated community located within Readington Township in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The community lies along the former Jersey Turnpike (now U.S. Route 22), just west of Mechanicsville. The Whitehouse–Mechanicsville Historic District, which includes historic places in both Whitehouse and Mechanicsville, was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 17, 2015.

The New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning has been held annually at the Solberg Airport in Readington Township, New Jersey since 1983. Its lead sponsor is New Jersey Lottery. In 2012, the festival hosted around 125 special shape and sport hot air balloons. It also had music concerts, crafters and vendors, food, carnival rides and fireworks, which attracted more than 175,000 people. It had more than fifty corporate partners.

Midland School, located in North Branch (in Branchburg Township, New Jersey), in Somerset County, New Jersey, United States, is a non-profit special education school serving the individual social, emotional, academic and career needs of children with developmental disabilities. The school serves 245 students, ranging in age from 5 to 21 years old, from central and northern New Jersey. With 245 students and 36.9 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), the school has a student–teacher ratio of 6.6.The school was founded in 1960 to meet the educational needs of two “brain injured” children for whom no educational program could be found.Students are placed in Midland School by their home school districts, which pay tuition for their students to attend. Additional operating funds are provided through the fund-raising programs of the Midland Foundation.

Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) is a public community college in North Branch, New Jersey. RVCC offers Associate degree programs leading to an Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate of Science (A.S.), Associate of Fine Art (A.F.A), or an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.), as well as certificate programs and continuing education courses. The college was founded in late 1965 as Somerset County College and opened to its first class of students in the fall of 1968. It was given its present name in 1987, when it became the county college for Hunterdon County as well as its home of Somerset County. It was the first community college in New Jersey to be sponsored by two different counties. Raritan Valley's University Center offers degree completion programs from a number of schools and university partners including Rutgers University.

The Whitehouse–Mechanicsville Historic District is a historic district located along old New Jersey Route 28, Mill, Lamington and School Roads in Whitehouse and Mechanicsville, unincorporated communities in Readington Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 17, 2015 for its significance in architecture and community development. The district includes 140 contributing buildings.

The Branchburg Township School District is a community public school district serving students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade from Branchburg, in Somerset County, New Jersey, United States.As of the 2020–21 school year, the district, comprised of three schools, had an enrollment of 1,325 students and 152.7 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 8.7:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "I", the second-highest of eight groupings. Fiddler's Elbow Country Club is a private country club located in Bedminster, New Jersey, United States. Fiddler's Elbow is the only private club in New Jersey with three 18-hole championship golf courses.

The Readington Reformed Church is a historic church located at 124 Readington Road, Readington Village, an unincorporated community located within Readington Township in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. It was known in colonial times as the Dutch Reformed Church of North Branch. It is the oldest Dutch Reformed Church in the county. The current building was built in 1865. The churchyard is known as the Readington Reformed Church Cemetery. The church was added as a contributing property of the Readington Village Historic District by the National Register of Historic Places on June 24, 1991.
