Rietvlei Nature Reserve

The Rietvlei River is a small river in central Gauteng Province, South Africa. It feeds the wetlands of the Rietvlei Nature Reserve, before it flows into Rietvlei Dam, which is one of the main sources of water for Pretoria. The river downstream of the dam is known as Sesmylspruit, which is a tributary of the Hennops River and part of the Crocodile River (Limpopo) basin.

The Rietvlei dam is an earth-fill type dam and is one of a number of dams supplying water to the Pretoria region of South Africa. It supplies around 41 million liters of drinking water daily, about 5.9% of the water requirement of Pretoria. The dam mainly serves for municipal and industrial use. Its hazard potential has been ranked high (3). Constructed as an earth-fill dam wall with a brick core in 1932/4, it was extended between 1988 and 1990 by raising the dam wall with the addition of a concrete wave wall and a reinforced earth barrier wall, as well as a surfaced roadway, on top of the original wall. The dam is fed by the Rietvlei, a river of the Crocodile River (Limpopo) basin, as well as by five fountains and five boreholes. The Rietvlei Nature Reserve occupies the area immediately surrounding the dam.

Cornwall Hill is a small suburb south of Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa, It borders the suburb of Irene. Cornwall Hill takes its name from the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry brigade that was stationed here during the Anglo-Boer war.

The Big House (Afrikaans: Groothuis), or Smuts House, is a historic house in Irene, Gauteng, which was inhabited by South African statesman Jan Smuts and his family. Today, it is part of the Smuts House Museum.

Moreleta Park (Afrikaans: Moreletapark) is a suburb of Pretoria, South Africa, situated 12 kilometres (7 mi) southeast of the city centre. According to the 2011 census, it has a population of 27,539.Moreleta Park is a suburban area with the majority of people commuting to work elsewhere; e.g. Johannesburg. It has a broad mixture of properties including office parks, retail shopping centers, hospitals, churches, upmarket single stand housing, gated security complexes, as well as typically smaller and higher density residential units built within an outer wall that forms a security barrier. There is also an informal settlement called "Plastic View" within the borders of the suburb. This poverty stricken settlement does not receive much noted support from the local council. Some local charities are reaching out to these residents from time to time. The Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve contains African wild life; zebras, springbok and other small antelope and ostriches may be observed. Entrance is free of charge and it is the best place for Sunday Morning Walk. Moreleta Park falls under the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality.

Pierre van Ryneveld Park is a suburb of Centurion in Gauteng Province, South Africa. It is named after Sir Pierre van Ryneveld. It is bisected by the N1 freeway and is bordered by Pretoria's South Eastern suburbs Waterkloof Ridge, Elardus Park and Monument Park.

The Irene Villagers Cricket Club Ground is a first-class cricket ground at the Irene Country Club in Irene, south of Pretoria, South Africa. The ground, on the bank of the Hennops River, has been the main home ground for the Irene Villagers Cricket Club since the club's inception in 1965. It has also been used for several non-first-class tournaments since 1998.The Bangladesh A team played four minor matches there on their tour of South Africa and Zimbabwe in 2015-16. A few weeks later the ground staged its first first-class and List A cricket matches, when Northerns played two home matches there against North West in December 2015. North West won both matches.

Southdowns College is a private, English medium co-educational primary and high school situated in Irene, Centurion, Gauteng, South Africa. The school is part of the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa and writes the Independent Examinations Board examinations. Southdowns College is part of the ADvTECH Group, which also includes Tyger Valley College and Pecanwood College in Hartebeespoort.
