Pittsburgh Field Club is a private country club, established in 1882, located six miles (10 km) northeast of downtown Pittsburgh in the suburb of Fox Chapel, Pennsylvania. It rounds out an impressive quartet of courses in the suburbs northeast of Pittsburgh, along with the Longue Vue Club and Golf Course, Oakmont Country Club and the Seth Raynor-designed Fox Chapel Golf Club. Known simply as The Field Club to Pittsburghers, it hosted the PGA Championship in 1937, where Denny Shute successfully defended his match play title. The club also hosted the Western Open in 1959 as part of Pittsburgh's bicentennial celebration. Before he won the U.S. Open in 1953 at nearby Oakmont, Ben Hogan had to qualify for the national championship at the Pittsburgh Field Club, even though he had won three of the previous five. The course was designed by Alexander H. Findlay in August 1914. At the time, Findlay was the premier golf course architect in the country, having perfected his design skills for decades in every corner of the country. The current layout is an amalgam that includes the efforts of Donald Ross, A.W. Tillinghast, Emil "Dutch" Loeffler, Arthur Hills, Craig Schreiner and Keith Foster in 2012. The first tee next to the clubhouse sits high above the fairway; many members suggest aiming for the white steeple of Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church when you tee off there. Of note is a unique feature to the course layout: An elevator from the 17th green to the 18th tee box. Amenities at the club include: a skeet range, swimming pool, tennis and paddleball courts, privately stocked fishing lake, driving range, practice area, an 18-hole golf course and a full-service restaurant. David Martin has served as the club pro for more than thirty-seven years.

Shady Side Academy is an independent preparatory school located in the Borough of Fox Chapel (suburban Pittsburgh), and in the Point Breeze neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1883 as an all-male night school in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, the academy now offers a secular coeducational PK–12 program on four campuses in the city and its suburbs, including a boarding program in the Croft and Morewood Houses of its Senior School Campus.Formed to provide for the education of the sons of newly moneyed industrialists of Pittsburgh's East End, the academy counts the Frick and Mellon families among its early patrons. The Hillman Center for Performing Arts is a multi-stage performing arts venue on the campus of Shady Side Academy's Senior School in Fox Chapel, a northern suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Featuring dedicated music and vocal practice spaces, the Richard E. Rauh proscenium theater, and the Peter J. Kountz black box theater, the Hillman Center serves as Shady Side Academy's primary performing arts classroom.

Fox Chapel Country Day School became Shady Side Academy's second elementary campus in 2017 after a merger between the two institutions. Previously known as Fox Chapel Country Day School, the school was renamed Shady Side Academy Country Day School in Fox Chapel beginning with the 2017–2018 school year. Founded in 1948 as Fox Chapel Country Day School (FCCDS), the school began with 18 children in a nursery school class, housed on the third floor of Fox Chapel Community Church (now Christ Church Fox Chapel). In the 1950s, the search began for a permanent location for the school, and a grade level was added each year to grow the school through fifth grade. In 1960, Richard K. Whiteman was appointed head of school, a tenure that would last for 40 years. In 1970, FCCDS became accredited by the Pennsylvania Association of Private Academic Schools (PAPAS). While continuing to share space with the church, the school reconfigured the facilities to suit its needs. In 1999, a major addition to join two buildings and create a new space for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classrooms was completed. The playground was replaced in 2011. Country Day's campus is less than a mile down the road from SSA Middle School, and it overlooks the SSA Senior School athletic complex across the road. Merger between Fox Chapel Country Day School and Shady Side Academy occurred in 2017.

The 2024 U.S. Senior Women's Open took place August 1–4 at Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and was the sixth U.S. Senior Women's Open. It was a professional golf tournament organized by the United States Golf Association (USGA), open to women over 50 years of age and one of two yearly senior women's major golf championships.

O'Hara Township is a township with home rule status in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania in the United States six miles northeast of Downtown Pittsburgh. The community was long organized as a township, and retains "Township" in its official name, but adopted a home rule charter in 1973 (taking effect on January 5, 1976) and is no longer subject to the Pennsylvania Township Code. The population was 8,407 at the 2010 census.It is named for James O'Hara, an early American industrialist in western Pennsylvania, and a revolutionary war general.

The 32nd Curtis Cup Match was played on August 3 and 4, 2002 at Fox Chapel Golf Club near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The United States won 11 to 7. Carol Semple Thompson made her 12th and final appearance, having first played in 1974.

Fox Chapel Area School District is a public school district located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. It serves the boroughs of Aspinwall, Blawnox, Fox Chapel, and Sharpsburg, along with Indiana and O'Hara Townships. It is located approximately 12 miles from downtown Pittsburgh. The district has four elementary sites, a middle school, and high school. There are approximately 4,600 students enrolled in the school district.

Fox Chapel Area High School (Established in 1961) is a public school located in the Pittsburgh suburb of O'Hara Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. It was recognized and honored as a National Blue Ribbon School twice. The Fox Chapel Area High School serves the municipalities of Fox Chapel, Aspinwall, Blawnox, Indiana, O'Hara and Sharpsburg.

Sauer Buildings Historic District, located between 607 and 717 Center Avenue in Aspinwall, Pennsylvania, consists of a group of buildings designed and built by Frederick C. Sauer from 1898 until his death in 1942. This historic district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 11, 1985.

Inventionland is a Pittsburgh-based immersive work environment and idea incubator where creative projects are brought to life. Inventionland was conceived by George Davison. Nathan Field served as the executive creative coach, and Joey Warren acted as senior concept designer. According to George Davison, his intention in building Inventionland was to provide a creative work environment in which artists, graphic designers, industrial designers and others could design, develop and create prototypes.
