Fort Hunter, Pennsylvania

Fort Hunter was a military fort located in present-day Fort Hunter, Pennsylvania. It was initially a stockaded gristmill fortified by Samuel Hunter in 1755 and later enlarged and maintained by the Province of Pennsylvania during the French and Indian War. Fort Hunter was part of a defensive line of forts built in Pennsylvania during 1755 and 1756, at the start of hostilities with the French and their allied Native Americans. It was briefly used during Pontiac's War, then abandoned in 1763.

Archibald McAllister House, now officially known as Fort Hunter Mansion, is a historic home located on the Susquehanna River approximately 6 miles north of downtown Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. It consists of a 2-story, 2-room stone "cabin' built in 1787, to which was added in 1814 a 2 1/2-story, five-bay wide stone dwelling in the Federal style. The mansion has an overall "T"-floorplan, with the 2+1⁄2-story 1814 addition in front and the original 1787 cabin and an attached, woodframe summer kitchen built in the mid- to late-19th century to the rear. The mansion features a front portico with Tuscan order columns above which is a Palladian window on the second floor. The entry door has a semi-circular fanlight and sidelights with thin wooden ribbing.The house is open as a 19th-century historic house museum and 40 acre park. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. It is located in the Fort Hunter Historic District.

Fort Hunter Historic District is a national historic district located at Fort Hunter, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. The district includes six contributing buildings, four contributing sites, and one contributing structure. The area has seen continuous settlement since the early 1700s and once was the site of an early supply fort and garrison. Also in the district are the remains of a section of the Pennsylvania Canal. Notable buildings include the separately listed Archibald McAllister House, a spring house, Everhart Covered Bridge, large frame barn (1876), corn crib, farm house, blacksmith shop, stone stable barn, Hunter's House or Old Hotel, ice house, and archaeological sites for Fort Hunter, the garrison, Hunter's Mill, and the Pennsylvania Canal.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Rockville is an unincorporated community in Susquehanna Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, United States. The community is home to the Rockville Bridge. Rockville is part of the Harrisburg–Carlisle Metropolitan Statistical Area. Originally settled in 1774 and referred to as Bushy Rock, the town of Rockville was laid out in 1834 to 1838 as Roberts Valley, by Mrs. Matilda Cox.

The Rockville Bridge is the longest stone masonry arch railroad viaduct ever built, at 3,820 feet (1,160 m). It has 48 70-foot spans.The bridge crosses the Susquehanna River about 5 miles (8 km) north of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The eastern end is located in Rockville and the western end is just south of Marysville. Completed in 1902 by the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR), it remains in use today by the Norfolk Southern Railway and Amtrak's Pennsylvanian route. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 and was designated as a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark in 1979.

The Marysville Bridge was a covered bridge railroad crossing of the Susquehanna River between Marysville, Pennsylvania and Dauphin, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1858 and demolished in 1903. Several of its piers still remain in the river; one of them bears a small-scale replica of the Statue of Liberty.
