Angelus Oaks, California

The San Bernardino National Forest is a United States National Forest in Southern California encompassing 823,816 acres (3,333.87 km2) of which 677,982 acres (2,743.70 km2) are federal. The forest is made up of two main divisions, the eastern portion of the San Gabriel Mountains and the San Bernardino Mountains on the easternmost of the Transverse Ranges, and the San Jacinto and Santa Rosa Mountains on the northernmost of the Peninsular Ranges. Elevations range from 2,000 to 11,499 feet (600 to 3505 m). The forest includes seven wilderness areas: San Gorgonio, Cucamonga, San Jacinto, South Fork, Santa Rosa, Cahuilla Mountain and Bighorn Mountain. Forest headquarters are located in the city of San Bernardino. There are district offices in Lytle Creek, Idyllwild, and Fawnskin. This site was the filming location for Daniel Boone in 1936; part of the 1969 musical film Paint Your Wagon was shot here. Free camping is available at 47 different 'Yellow Post' campsites located throughout the forest.

Bear Creek is an approximately 17-mile (27 km) tributary of the Santa Ana River in the San Bernardino Mountains of the U.S. state of California.

Mountain Home Village is an unincorporated community in San Bernardino County, California, United States with a population of 170 full-time residents as of 2010. Mountain Home Village is located along California State Route 38 5.2 miles (8.4 km) north-northeast of Yucaipa. It is located less than a mile east from the Thurman Flats Picnic Area, and the Loch Leven- and Mill Creek Campgrounds are located in the village. It is also where Mill Creek and Mountain Home Creek (which starts in Lake Shadow by nearby Angelus Oaks in the north) meets, while other creeks in area includes Skinner Creek, East Fork Mountain Home Creek, and Frustration Creek. The Mentone Boulders is also located nearby, which is a well-known rock-climbing area. It is located in the San Bernardino Mountains, just at the edge of the San Andreas Fault and offers some extraordinary valley views, and on clear days, also views of the City of San Bernardino. There are also numerous hiking trails located by the village. It is located within the San Bernardino National Forest and is surrounded by pine forest. Its elevation is 3600 feet. In 1956, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) purchased a resort in Mountain Home Village and started the Loch Leven Camp & Retreat Center.

The Valley Fire was a wildfire that burned near the community of Forest Falls in San Bernardino National Forest, including the San Gorgonio Wilderness in California, United States. The fire was reported on July 6, one of a handful of brush fires that started in the area due to high temperatures and dry conditions. The Valley Fire burned 1,350 acres (5 km2) before it was fully contained on October 22. The fire impacted traffic on Highway 38 due to road closures and has caused evacuations of Forest Falls.

Bearpaw Reserve is a nature preserve on the north-facing slopes of the Yucaipa Ridge in the San Bernardino Mountains. Conifer and oak woodlands support wildlife such as flying squirrels and the southern spotted owl. Columbine Falls is a seasonal waterfall about 110 feet (34 m) high. The 600 acres (240 ha) property is owned and managed by The Wildlands Conservancy as part of its system of preserves.

The San Bernardino meridian, established in 1852, is one of three principal meridians in the state of California. Because of the state's shape, three meridian–baseline sets are required for surveys in all parts of the state. The San Bernardino meridian is used for Southern California, and some townships in Arizona are also referenced to it.The initial point (datum) is at the summit of Mount San Bernardino, in the San Bernardino Mountains, in San Bernardino County, California. It is at an elevation of over 10,000 feet (3,000 meters). The meridian runs north–south from the initial point 34°07′13″N 116°55′48″W.

The Henry Washington Survey Marker is a survey marker in San Bernardino National Forest in San Bernardino County, California. The marker served as the earliest initial points of the San Bernardino Baseline and Meridian, which in turn mark the starting points for the surveying and subdivision of land in Southern California. Colonel Henry Washington placed the marker in 1852 at the beginning of the U.S. Surveyor General's Office's land survey of Southern California, the first survey of the region. Later surveys in 1897 and 1907 set new initial points for the survey east and west of the marker; these points replaced Washington's marker as the official initial points in 1917. Washington's original marker nonetheless still serves as a point along the baseline.The marker was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 12, 1975.

Bluff Lake is a lake in the Big Bear Valley of the San Bernardino Mountains, in San Bernardino County, California. It is located southwest of Big Bear Lake reservoir and Big Bear City.

Seven Oaks is an unincorporated mountain community in the San Bernardino Mountains. It sits by the Santa Ana River, 7 miles northeast of Angelus Oaks. Seven Oaks Road leads to the neighboring community of Pinezanita, 3.5 miles west of Seven Oaks. It is located 4 miles off Highway 38. It is a resort community which was founded in 1845. Seven Oaks is situated in the Santa Ana River Canyon, roughly halfway between the confluence of Bear Creek and the Santa Ana to the west, and the headwaters of the Santa Ana below Sugarloaf Mountain to the east. It sits four miles from the Highway 38, and may be reached from Glass Road, Forest Road and Seven Oaks Road. It is located next to Santa Ana River, a river which is popular for Trout and German Brown fishing.It was named for the English town Sevenoaks, Kent by Charles M. Lewis in 1845. It was previously a sheep ranch, but developed into a resort community after the opening of Big Bear Lake, California. The community is now home to a lodge which dates back to 1876, and is also home to a bar, duck pond, restaurant and gift shop. It is also home to a swimming pool and numerous hiking trails to Barton Flats and nearby mountain destinations. It has been named the oldest resort town in Southern California.Films such as The Girl Who Ran Wild (1922) and The Savage (1917) have been filmed in Seven Oaks.A cabin burned down and a shootout took place here during the manhunt for officer Christopher Dorner in February 2013.

Forest Falls is an unincorporated community in San Bernardino County, California, 75 miles (121 km) due east of Los Angeles. The community has a population of 1,102 and contains 712 houses. Forest Falls is best known for the waterfalls on Vivian and Falls creeks and as a point of access for recreation in the San Bernardino National Forest, particularly the San Gorgonio Wilderness Area, which lies directly north of the community.

The El Dorado Fire burned 22,744 acres (9,204 ha; 35.538 sq mi; 92.04 km2) in San Bernardino and Riverside counties of California from September to November 2020. It was ignited on September 5 by a pyrotechnic device at a gender reveal party in El Dorado Ranch Park; it quickly spread to the San Gorgonio Wilderness Area of the San Bernardino National Forest. Burning over a 71-day period, the fire destroyed 20 structures and resulted in one firefighter fatality, for which the couple hosting the party were charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Anderson Peak is a mountain on the Mount San Gorgonio crestline in Southern California's San Gorgonio Wilderness, which is part of the San Bernardino National Forest. It is 3.2 miles (5.1 km) from Jepson Peak. Although not above the tree line, snow tends to cover the crest from the northern hemisphere early winter until late spring.
