Orcines

The canton of Orcines is an administrative division of the Puy-de-Dôme department, central France. It was created at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Orcines.It consists of the following communes:

The Arboretum de Royat (41 hectares) is an arboretum located in the forêt domaniale southwest of Royat, Puy-de-Dôme, Auvergne, France. Royat is a spa town at the foot of the Parc des Volcans d'Auvergne and the Puy-de-Dôme, developed from 1850 onwards. The arboretum was established in 1931, and currently contains walking paths through over 40 types of trees, including conifers from North America and Europe such as Douglas fir, larch, and Lawson cypress. It is managed by the Office National des Forêts.

Royat (French pronunciation: ​[ʁwaja]; Occitan: Roiat) is a commune in the Puy-de-Dôme department in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in central France. As of 2019, its population was 4,359.Since Roman times, its thermal springs have made it a spa town, and the remains of the Roman baths are still visible.

The Circuit de Charade, also known as Circuit Louis Rosier and Circuit Clermont-Ferrand, is a motorsport race track in Saint-Genès-Champanelle near Clermont-Ferrand in the Puy-de-Dôme department in Auvergne in central France. The circuit, built around the base of an extinct volcano, was known for its challenging layout which favored the most skillful drivers and motorcyclists. It hosted the French Grand Prix four times and the French motorcycle Grand Prix ten times.

The Puy de Pariou, also known as Puy Pariou or Le Pariou, is a volcano located in the Chaîne des Puys, in the Massif Central region. It is formed by the overlay of two strombolian cones and a tuff ring; it produced three lava flows during its eruptive history.

The Panoramique des Dômes is a 5.2 km long rack railway that allows access to the top of the Puy de Dôme, in France, since mid-2012. The railway is owned by the Conseil général du Puy-de-Dôme. The train has a capacity of 1,200 persons an hour.

The Temple of Mercury at Puy de Dôme is a Gallo-Roman trachyte temple built in the 2nd century at the summit of the lava dome. It replaced a 1st-century arkose temple on the same site, which was apparently too small to accommodate the many pilgrims who visited. Its remains were revealed by excavation campaigns in 1875 and at the turn of the century.
