4th Street Food Co-op

The Ypsilanti Food Co-op is a food cooperative located in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Located in historic Depot Town, it is Michigan's only solar-powered grocery store. Also owned by the co-op is the River Street Bakery, which features the only wood-fired brick oven in commercial use in Washtenaw County. The Ypsilanti Food Co-op, in turn, is owned by its membership and governed by its board of directors. The shared building also is home to two beehives that are part of the Local Honey Project, managed by members, and they live in the adjacent called "Honeybee Alley". The co-op is a member of the National Cooperative Grocers Association. It is Ypsilanti's primary host of events concerning sustainability, ecology, and food-related issues; in addition, it is a sponsor of and promotes external activities such as Ypsilanti's farmers' markets and other local-food initiatives. The co-op provides card-reader services for both Ypsilanti farmers' markets, allowing all vendors to accept payment by credit card, as well as EBT/Snap cards.

The Merchant's House Museum, known formerly as the Old Merchant's House and as the Seabury Tredwell House, is the only nineteenth-century family home in New York City preserved intact—both inside and out. Built "on speculation" in 1832 by Joseph Brewster, a hatter by trade, it is located at 29 East Fourth Street, between Lafayette Street and the Bowery in Manhattan. It became a museum in 1936, founded by George Chapman, a cousin of the family who once lived there. The House was among the first 20 buildings designated in 1965 under the City's new landmarks law. It is the only historic house museum in the Greenwich Village/Soho/NoHo neighborhoods.

The Samuel Tredwell Skidmore House is a house at 37 East Fourth Street in the NoHo neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City, New York, US. The three-and-a-half-story Greek Revival structure was built for the merchant Samuel Tredbury Skidmore. It has a facade divided vertically into three bays, accessed through a stoop. The interior has a gross floor area of 9,620 square feet (894 m2) and is divided into 10 apartments. The building is a New York City designated landmarks and on the National Register of Historic Places. The site was formerly part of the estate of German-American businessman John Jacob Astor. The house was developed by the firm of T. Thomas & Son and built between 1844 and 1845. Skidmore died in 1881, and his widow sold the property two years later. The interiors were split into apartments in the 20th century and later fell into disrepair, being renovated in 2010.

The De Vinne Press Building, located at 393-399 Lafayette Street at the corner of East 4th Street, in the NoHo district of lower Manhattan, New York City, is a brick structure, built in 1885-1886 and designed by the firm of Babb, Cook & Willard in Romanesque Revival style. An addition was made to the building in 1892.

Firehouse, Engine Company 33 and Ladder Company 9 is a New York City Fire Department firehouse at 42 Great Jones Street in NoHo, Manhattan. It is the home of Engine Company 33 and Ladder Company 9. The building is a Beaux Arts structure built in 1899 by Ernest Flagg and W.B. Chambers.

Great Jones Street is a street in New York City's NoHo district in Manhattan, essentially another name for 3rd Street between Broadway and the Bowery. The street was named for Samuel Jones, a lawyer who became known as "The Father of The New York Bar" due to his work on revising New York State's statutes in 1789 along with Richard Varick, who had a street in SoHo named after him. Jones was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1796 to 1799, and he also served as the state's first Comptroller.Jones deeded the site of the street to the city with the stipulation that any street that ran through the property had to be named for him. However, when the street was first created in 1789, the city already had a Jones Street in Greenwich Village, named for Dr. Gardner Jones, Samuel Jones's brother-in-law. The confusion between two streets with the same name was broken when Samuel Jones suggested that his street be called Great Jones Street. An alternative theory suggests that the street was called "Great" because it was the wider of the two Jones Streets.

57 Great Jones Street is a building in the NoHo historic district of Manhattan, New York City. It first gained attention as the clubhouse of the Five Points Gang, considered by a contemporary journalist as the "largest and best organized gang in New York" and the site of a bystander's murder during a wild gun fight in 1905. Eighty-three years later, then owned by Andy Warhol, it was Jean-Michel Basquiat's studio/apartment and the site of his overdose death. In 2023 Angelina Jolie rented it as a space for artistic collaboration. The building is a two-story brick structure on an "L"-shaped lot measuring about 25 feet wide and 75 feet deep. It possesses a facade that predominantly features arched windows in a Romanesque Revival style. Although residential tenants have sometimes lived there, most have been businesses. Often used as a saloon in early years, it has also been occupied by small manufacturers, retail outlets, auction houses, restaurants, and galleries.

Columbia Hall, commonly known as Paresis Hall, was a brothel and gay bar located in the Bowery, in New York City, in the 1890s. Located on the Bowery near Cooper Union, the Hall was owned by the gangster James T. Ellison.

The Fez under Time Cafe, known as the Fez, was a nightclub and restaurant on Lafayette Street and Great Jones Street in New York City's NoHo District. The club closed in February 2005. It hosted numerous musicians and comedians, including Rufus Wainwright, Stella, Richard Barone, Carly Simon and Jeff Buckley.

Other Music was a music retail store that sold CDs, records and cassettes online and at their brick-and-mortar location in the Noho neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. The store specialized in the sale of closely curated underground, rare and experimental music. The physical store was located at 15 E 4th St, New York, NY 10003 from 1995 to June 2016. In January 2007, Other Music announced that it planned to sell high-quality MP3 files for download without using any type of digital rights management. This announcement follows similar moves made by other small online music retailers, including United Kingdom-based Rough Trade, New York-based Insound and New York-based Anthology Recordings. The announcement also coincided with the closing of Tower Records' Lower Manhattan location. According to Other Music co-owner Josh Madell, this closing signifies the growing hardship of selling music out of a physical store, especially considering his store's location just across the street from Tower.In August 2012, Other Music launched the record label Other Music Recording Company in a partnership with the Oxford, Mississippi-based record label Fat Possum Records. Among the label's first releases was an album by Japanese musician Shintaro Sakamoto.In May 2016, Other Music announced its plans to close on June 25. Co-owner Josh Madell cited rising rents and the changing face of the music industry as the reasons for the closure.Writing about Other Music's closure for The New Yorker, Amanda Petrusich said, "In 1999, if you were the type of person who was looking for something a little different (more challenging, more sophisticated, more esoteric) from the schlock being peddled to the herds of dead-eyed automatons browsing the Tower Records up the block, then here was the store for you!"

The company, founded by Michael Lacey (editor) and Jim Larkin (publisher), was then known as New Times Inc. (NTI) and the publication was named New Times. The company was later renamed New Times Media.By 2001, the company (NTI) had grown to 13 newspapers in major cities across the United States. Most of these publications were acquired via purchase from then current owner/publishers.In 2006, with the acquisition of The Village Voice, the company took the name Village Voice Media Holdings. The company is often referred to in this article as NTI/VVM after that date.
